I have never been so excited for a set to be honest. Do we have confirmation that this will in fact come out?

Yeah. They told to ambassadors that It is going to be an exclusive set.

wow i think the house looks cool enough to fit into my collection of historic (mostly) collection..

The only problem with the idea of yearly Halloween sets is that they've already covered a lot of that ground with the 'Monster Fighters' sets. What other Halloween ideas are there? Mad scientist with laboratory? Done. Vampire with castle? Done. Ghost train? Done.

On the other hand, a yearly Halloween theme will last a lot longer than Monster Fighters, so after a few years that will have been discontinued... also a lot of the new pieces and prints from MF can be used for the Halloween theme.

Personally, I think the way the ghosts are displayed in front of the house points to it being something you put on display, rather than something you play with... which would fit in with a yearly Halloween theme, but not MF.

I also think it's extraordinarily large for a D2C set for a 1-2 year theme. Especially a theme that doesn't exactly look like it's for older builders...

I disagree with this.

I think there is alot of sets they can cover. Youve got the haunted pumpkin patch. You've got any trick or treat scenarios. Youve got scary carnivals with weird creatures. Gosh take all the scary movies and pick and choose scary scenes. The house on the haunted hill. Cemetaries... they can realease differnt houses decked out in halloween decorations, jack olanterns, scarecrows... the list goes on for about 3 years

Excellent point Nate... I'd love to see an exclusive during halloween each year like they do at christmas... Cemetery, tombs, would be great.

I can't wait for this! I can see this being in any town layout. The typical "haunted" house. Big ornate iron gates/fence. Just sitting in the thick of a neighborhood. All the punk kids daring each other to go knock on the door.

The fact that it is spooky doesn't mean it is halloween set. I strongly believe that it has nothing to do with halloween, it is exclusive of Monster Fighters or a stand-alone set.

The house does seem to have some inspiration from the "Psycho" house, doesn't it?

They were all basically the same house. It was a standard creepy haunted type house on the Universal Studios backlots. Exterior shots of it were used for a number of movies and shows, the most famous being Psycho. I think it was also the Munsters 1313 Mockingbird Lane house, or the Aadams Family house.

The Phantom Manor at Disneyland Paris is in this same style, as well.

I wasn't aware of that. Thanks you two for the info. :classic:

I'm uncomfortably eager for information on this set. The "soft reveal" of R2-D2 was officially confirmed so soon after, but this one has remained a mystery for so long, it's makin' me crazy. Crazy!!

It's curious, because there's a recent rumor that says that the Hollywood Pictures store will soon be replaced by a Lego store in the Disney Village in Disneyland Paris... Strange coincidence, isn't it ?

hmm...I hope that there are more than two ghosts included. What else can there be? I would expect a detailed interior. Perhaps a really messed up interior, but still detailed. I wouldn't be surprised if Lego coincides the release date with Halloween.

Monster Fighter Series surely fits a haunted house idea, but I doubt if TLC dares to release an Exclusive set for Monster Fighter series. It seems to me pretty risky for a short-life and non-licenced series to have an Exclusive set in terms of sales...

"The Zombies" is...

If you really love ghosts why don't you go for 30201 ?

There's a difference between a store-exclusive sets and "exclusive" (as in direct-to-consumer) sets. I think Alywin was talking about the latter as opposed to the former.

Then again, keep in mind that the Imperial Flagship was released after a single wave of Pirates sets, and no other non-licensed Pirates sets followed it. Sure, that's a slightly different situation because Pirates is (supposedly) an evergreen theme, but I think it really shows that it doesn't matter whether the brand attached to a Direct-to-Consumer set is supposed to be continued within the immediate future.

In the case of this haunted house, just like with the Imperial Flagship, the design quality seems to make it stand out by its own merits no matter what theme it's "officially" attached to. So sticking the Monster Fighters branding on it surely wouldn't do it any harm as far as I can tell.

I can't imagine this'll be officially branded as a Monster Fighters set.

It just doesn't (seem to) fit into the overall story of the other sets. That's a big difference from Pirates and the Imperial Flagship too since Pirates has no overarching storyline like the one-off action themes do. The Imperial Flagship didn't have to match the other Pirates sets because there was no plotline. Any Monster Fighters-themed set should somehow fit in with the others, and unless this Haunted House turns out to be the Monster Fighters' headquarters or something like that, I just don't see how they would tie it together with the theme.

So, it might be hard to tell from the photos, and I don't know if this has been verified yet, but does it look like the Haunted House will be mostly sand green colored bricks?

If so then that's awesome, because I like that color. :classic:

I interpreted it as Medium Stone Grey (light bluish gray). A sand green haunted house would be good for parts, but I think it would lose a lot of the iconic haunted house look by being so colorful, so I'm hoping I'm correct.

To me the main dilemma in attaching the Haunted House to the Monster Fighters theme is that as an exclusive it will probably be sold at least a year or two after the theme itself has disappeared from the shelves. That in itself would not be a problem, as Medieval Market Village greatly outlived Fantasy Era Castle and Imperial Flagship the Pirates (though the latter appears not to be associated in any way with the Pirates theme in packaging, at least not in the front). But if what we have seen of the Haunted House is representative, it does not really carry the subject matter of the Monster Fighters in it - it doesn't seem to include any of the fighters themselves, and in my opinion they wouldn't fit in that well either, even if the set could matter-of-factly be a nice addition to the monster land of the theme if you happen to have also other sets from the theme. Thus the name could appear rather strange after the regular theme bites the dust: as a standalone it is "a Halloween set" or "a Haunted House set", but not "a Monster Fighters set". Thus I predict it will not have Monster Fighters logo in the package, but it will be sold among the Monster Fighters as long as the theme lasts.

Of course, all my babbling is in vain if they choose to include a monster fighter or two in the set and really tie it into the Monster Fighters theme.

I don't really care what theme it's attached to, I just hope they include a couple zombies in addition to the ghosts. But either way it'll be an awesome set.

They should use the dark bluish grey like the one I made:

With all due respect I'm keeping my fingers crossed for sand green. While it's more colorful, I can still see a spooky looking haunted house working well in that color... And I just want the sand green for parts.

Well I agree with Walter, sand green will be super-awesome for parts.

BUT

in my opinion sand green looks just fine with the building, nothing wrong or off with the colour scheme.
