CaptainCRO Posted February 16, 2012 Posted February 16, 2012 I was wondering if it is possible(and how hard) to make a custom White Boba Fett of parts from normal Boba Fett that will look identical to LEGO version? What technology would it take to print the torso? Quote

Printing is expensive, and with the time and money put into trying to replicate white Boba Fett, you can just buy him at a fairly cheap price on Bricklink. -Omi Quote
Solscud007 Posted February 17, 2012 Posted February 17, 2012 I concur. Just buy one or trade something to someone in the UK. The white helmet will be hard to get. I did buy an arealight custom white helmet and rocket pack, but it is just not the same. Quote
CaptainCRO Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 Actually, I just recently got a White Boba Fett. I asked this question because I was thinking and, what if this fig gets rare/expensive in years, like Chrome C-3PO and Vader? It's a very simple design and people will probably be doing their best to make a fake one that looks like original and sell it. I just wanted to find out if this is possible at all, to make a fig(even a simple one like this) that will be 100% identical to official version. Kinda stupid question, but I think it's an interesting point. Quote

It will take a long time for the fig to become rare because so many were made in circulation for the promotions (and the Chrome Vaders are worth just as much). And if you replicated it, the copy surely won't be worth as much, and hopefully that isn't your intentions. But people have replicated it. It is simple to get a torso printed, but the headgear you will have to buy separate online or paint it white. Quote
Brickmamba Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 It is not rare yet but as the years go on value will go up (unless another one is released) so best to get one early better than late Quote
Omicron Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 It is not rare yet but as the years go on value will go up (unless another one is released) so best to get one early better than late Value doesn't go up when the value drops substantially. This fig used to be worth over a $100 bucks, and Lego made more after that, dropping the value to $35. That's bad. -Omi Quote

CaptainCRO Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 30K Oh, that's a surprise. Slighty off topic: How is it that there are 10000 of both Darth Vader and C-3PO, but everyone has 10 Vaders and hardly anyone has C-3PO. Quote

AFAIK the Chrome Vader had various ways of distribution, in some cases buying a set at a certain price would get you one, that is in addition to them being found in 2009 sets. While the Chrome C-3PO was only distributed in sets that you had to randomly find (I did hear of a few cases where they were handed out at events). Plus it is a few years older than the Chrome Vader polybag. I am going to guess we will get a new promo fig on May the Fourth (Maybe even the Darth Maul Polybag from the NY Toy Fair). Quote
