Alasdair Ryan Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 (edited) Yes the steering part is finished. (i hope ) I did not do any gearing on the steering so i hope it works ok. ( i am sure it will ) Edited February 18, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
jorgeopesi Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Big turntables on wheels... maybe you use the 8448 wheel with the 8297 tire?. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 18, 2012 Author Posted February 18, 2012 No i plan to use a set off the off roader wheels (balloon tires) if that does not work i have also ordered unimog tires. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) Quick update, i made a new gearbox for some of the functions, the last one was not wide enough for the shafts to merge with the inside of the turntable.(driving rings) Two gearboxes down one to go but that goes on the upper part. allanp Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Looks great so far! It's hard to see in the pics, have you included the planetary gear reduction in the turntables/wheel hubs? Quote

allanp Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Hang on an i will take a pic. Edit: I have tested it and it does turn. Yes but do you have any gear reduction? You are supposed to have a 1:4 gear reduction. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) I am puting a reduction on when it goes to the diff (xl - 6th - 24 (diff) then the the axles. Edited February 19, 2012 by Alasdair Ryan Quote

dhc6twinotter Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Alasdair, your project is looking good! Nice and complex! Your planetary hub design is very compact. And, yes, the turntable is pointed in the correct direction for gear reduction (I just double-checked the planetary gears on my backhoe and forwarder). Nice work so far! Ah thanks very much i think my project will be a lot harder than ether of your moc's. Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Well I thought you may want a small update,I have redesigned the whole model. There is two separate gearboxes on the lower part one for the drive, legs, power to the steering as well as to power the boom functions. The other gearbox is to select the steering functions. In the picture below you can see the general layout. I dare say it while be a while again to the next update.... Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Looking good! Thank you Daniel. Quote
Junpei Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 What kind of steering modes does it have? Awesome model so far! Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Yes it is,but that is one of the main reasons why I prefer building machinery over something like a car or a 4x4. But this model is nowhere near as complex as what my other moc up the road. Quote
