Cecilie Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 With that, Maniko excuses herself from the room, retreating to her quarters for the evening to meditate and reflect upon what had transpired. She grimly looked towards the morning, when she would return to the gathering, her luck permitting. Thanks for gracing us with your presence. Tell me, is showing up once a day to vote and then hide in your room the entire time going to be your mantra? And I see I forgot to actually cast my vote earlier. As I've said, Yasu seems to either be a threat to us as scum, or as an unreliable townie, so I will Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder)
Peanuts Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I didn't think Yasu was scum, but she's working hard to make us believe she is. While role cop is not really effective for actual investigation, it might be useful in order to check claims once we get ourselves organized. Only trouble is, at this point we can't even be sure if she actually is what she claims even if she's Yakuza. She has been acting so paranoid and erratically today, I would not even put her past claiming a role though being actionless. And even if not, she has been harmful to the town with exactly that crazy behavior. I'm slightly suprised by Norio-sama, who has been changing his mind rather quick, from advocating not to lynch her to voting for Yasu. Apparently there's some private talk going on between the two of them, but I'll keep it in mind, tough. Anyway, it appears by lynching Yasu we won't risk much. I'd rather have kept the role she claimed, but it comes at a very high price since it means keeping her as well. She's been annoyingly useless today and I doubt that will change over the next few days. Role cop can be a horrible role in the wrong hands, it's a role that's more useful for the scum than for the town, and she has not shown competent handling of information today when she claimed to Ichirou as response to his accusation. Therefore I'll vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder). vote:

Etzel Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 The defend Yasu is putting up is really not the best. I don't really see the advantages of letting her live through the night just because she claims a role. Judging from her action before she made the claim I think it was just a desperate try to turn the tide. Just look at these poor defences: I got a bit over excited and thought I would be gone for longer. I can see why you are doubting me, but it is not exactly the best logic. True people have died for less, but it is unprofound, pushing a lynch on something that has happened outside of the day thread. I can't stay awake all night to play mafia. I said I would be gone, because I can't be there for the start. I have seen people lynched for quietness. But l am not experienced in these matters. I make one statment, not even in the day thread, and I am lynched. Just because I make a comment that is reasonable, as such people have been lynched before. Then comes the role claim and a lot of confusion all over. Some people seemed to accept Yasu's claim very fast and I'm a bit confused over that. I find it more likely that it was a scum move from someone who had failed in previous attempts to defend herself. What really makes me convinced to vote for Yasu is Emi's reasoning here: I realize what a big risk it is to lynch someone who claims a power role. However, Today, what I've seen from Yasu's defense is this: Oh no! I'm being accused! Let's see if I can get people to drop by repeating what Hanako said: technically this can't be used against me. It's not working! I know! I'll avoid the accusation and see if it goes away! I can't think of anything to say on my own! Uh, MegaBloks. Okay, let's see...I'll repeat something Norio said would be a plausible explanation. No! It's still not working! I'll roleclaim! Lots of people I've seen in past situations did that to avoid a lynch! She's done nothing but repeat what someone else has said, repeat what someone else has done in past situations, and avoid the questions. It seems a lot like she tried to get away by avoiding things, and then used a variant of acting like a Templie after being told what a Templie should act like. And again, the timing of the third thing listed above makes me think that she's just making up different reasons instead of coming out and saying them in the first place, so that makes me think that there's a good chance that she just made up the roleclaim. I think that seems like a very likely scenario and if it's wrong, well then I can just say that I think Yasu made some big mistakes that she will have to take lesson from in the next game life. Besides, I don't think the loss of a Yakuza role cop is that bad, that role isn't that important when we surely have a lot of other useful roles as well. Letting Yasu live and spend all our resources regarding night actions to verify/falsify her claim doesn't sound like the best option here. We should instead let the ones with night actions focus on others to let us get a wider knowledge about our family. So, I'm going to: Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder) Scum or not? Place your bets here!
Rumble Strike Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 It looks as though we may have a unanimous decision soon. Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder)
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 This plus her responses in private have told me that her story is implausible, and that even if she survives, I worry she may be a hindrance to town. I've sent you the details, so hopefully that is a satisfactory explanation Perhaps you could share what's implausible. I know role cop isn't a tremendously powerful role and that Yasu hasn't done herself any favors with her behavior or poor defense. I'd feel better about voting her off, though, if she actually slipped up and lied about something. So if she's done that please share.
MetroiD Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Perhaps you could share what's implausible. I second that notion. While Yasu has spent half the day letting us know that she's been in touch with other Family members and debating how smart these moves of hers have been, she never did share anything with me when I contacted her out of the goodness of my heart. If she couldn't trust the head of this Family, I am very curious who did she decide she could confide in instead, other than the Family members already noted - and what actually led her to that decision. It seems to me that quite a chunk of her behaviour today was orchestrated by people she's been in contact with, especially after our talk in private, so I would also be very eager to hear what my esteemed son-in-law, who claims his inbox head is always full of potatoes anyway, has to share with us on this issue. He is not the only one to have been "trusted" by Yasu though, and considering how brazenly outspoken she has been today, it is curious how little information we have received that could substantiate any of her claims, especially from Family members she stated she had contacted. This is in no way helping us form a circle of trust...
MetroiD Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 All in due time, folks. All in due time This is not helping our common cause, Norio. Or yours, for that matter; especially considering your behaviour throughout the day.
def Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 This is not helping our common cause, Norio. Or yours, for that matter; especially considering your behaviour throughout the day. Take this with a grain of salt, but, whatever You (all) were gung ho to lynch a claimed role, I cautioned against it. I took some time to interact with him, and made the decision that he had holes in his story. I realize that will be a damning pattern to some people here, but so be it. That's the way it goes. You've got your day one lynch selected. I have nothing to tell that will change your minds. So, nagging me for details right now is just silly.
Masked Builder Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Silly daughter in-law. Even if you are a townie, I'm really starting to seriously doubt that you are, I'm willing to risk the role to get rid of you. I will therefore: Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder)
MetroiD Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 You've got your day one lynch selected. I have nothing to tell that will change your minds. Hmmm, that is rather funny - why would you want to change our minds after having so eagerly jumped on board all of a sudden, Norio? We have got our day one "lynch" selected together - acting as though you want nothing to do with it now (even though you claim to have been convinced otherwise) is quite a curious way to show us that you're loyal to this Family. And, erm - since when is Yasu male... As to her claimed role part - I did put forward my reasons very early on, and I notice that other Family members seem to agree with me that there's very little to be really cautious of here, and much more would be lost by keeping Yasu among us, regardless of what she is potentially capable of doing. By the way - do I have to remind you that Yasu did contact you and Ichirou way before you actually decided to "take the time" and check up on her reasoning...? She also spilt the berice by openly stating that she's taking someone else's advice on what to do and what not to. If that does not constitute a solid enough reason to be doubtful of your little games ("mind games", anyone?), I don't know what does. Talking down to your elders in the manner in which you are is not condoned in this Family, you know. I guess this just goes to show that some people can easily forget the part they have to play in the big picture. Just remember that this is not one of your gung-ho missions, golf courses in the Scottish fields, or cocktail parties afterwards.

MetroiD Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Chill out! 横柄 !!! Mind your tongue, boy. Just a quick observation: First you insinuate that you have some information that will be shared "in due time", on a need to know basis - now you're stepping back. For a secret agent, you seem to be rather clumsy in your moves. They really haven't been too successful at teaching you how to dance, now have they.
def Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Yeah, it has been, what, two hours. And I haven't told you everything I know yet. Obviously you're a master detective, since no townie wouldn't spill their guts at the first sign of harassment. I'm done arguing with a brick wall for today. Feel free to start up your accusations tomorrow.
Alopex Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder) I believe this is the right thing to do.
Tamamono Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Well, I still don't believe that Yasu-chan is scum, but the least she could do would be to try to not get herself lynched. Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder)
Professor Flitwick Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Y'know, I bet if we let Yasu go for today, and tracked/watched/investigated her tonight, the scum wouldn't even touch her. They wouldn't risk being caught targeting her, so they'd choose someone else entirely. Not that there's much chance of her getting out of this vote now. She's acted too sloppily and I don't see a majority voting for an alternative that hasn't even presented itself. *sniff* Normally I'd agree with you; and that I find it uneasy to vote for someone claiming a role, but given that Norio (who at one point was arguing in Yasu's defence) has said there are holes in her story she told him in private, I am lead to believe she's lying. Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder) Thanks for gracing us with your presence. Tell me, is showing up once a day to vote and then hide in your room the entire time going to be your mantra? *sniff* Please, there's still one person who has yet to even speak (Lloyd Jr.).
Rick Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 On balance, I think Yasu is most likely scum. She probably is a role cop, or at least on a team with someone else who is. Her attempts at defense look sloppy to me; I think she was coached, but took it on herself to roleclaim too early. It's possible she is just a clueless townie, but I'd rather risk losing a clueless townie who isn't likely to put her role to effective use, than to keep a suspected scum around in the game for the extra days it will require to confirm her. I'm not convinced at all that Yasu is scum, but I agree, role cop is not the easiest, most straightforward claim to make, so we cannot ignore that she might actually be a role cop on the mutineers' side (or that the mutineers have a role cop on their side). Also, as many have already indicated, if she indeed is a townie, she has clearly demonstrated that she's not going to be of much use throughout this ordeal, so it won't be a huge loss in any case. Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder) It will give us at least some information, as almost everyone has given their opinion on her. I believe this is the right thing to do. Thanks for being so helpful yet again.

swils Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Thanks for gracing us with your presence. Tell me, is showing up once a day to vote and then hide in your room the entire time going to be your mantra? With Maniko well beyond earshot by this time, Yoshiko is left to ponder her question on her own. Eventually, she recalls that Chieko had been signed up for a dancing competition, and had been training fervently for months in preparation. Combined with the unsettling events unfolding in the building, the poor girl was under much stress. However, it may be best to give her til the morning to clear her head. It's not as though she signed up for this.
Eskallon Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Unvote: Yasu (Boy Wonder) Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder) Thanks Grandfather for not including me 10 votes back. Just a quick observation: First you insinuate that you have some information that will be shared "in due time", on a need to know basis - now you're stepping back. My thoughts exactly, great job Norio.
Brickdoctor Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Tired and exhausted from a long day of training with Chieko, Maniko follows her teacher into the main room. She continues to walk with Chieko, allowing herself to be informed of the mess Yasu seemed to have been causing today, among other events. "Chiekosama, all of this talk of roles and claims, and novels of old, it all seems so abstract! Can no one address the day's events as they are, rather than analyzing them as if we were in a history lesson? A great tragedy may yet befall us, but we are content to bicker and nitpick over ancient texts? Why, mistress? Despite being a woman of charity, Yasu-san has wedged herself firmly into the middle of this ugly mess. The unnecessary attention when tensions were high, inviting manipulation from those who seek to dismantle this family... I can not say that I am eager to see her go, but all of this confusion could have so easily been avoided, it seems such a pointless mess, especially if she truly had nothing to hide! Why, I have been busy with your tutelage all day, mistress, though neither of us managed to get ourselves in such trouble! We may be damning one of our own, but at this point, I fear that Yasu-san will only be a tool for those bent against us, whether she wishes to be or not. It is with a heavy heart that I..." Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder) With that, Maniko excuses herself from the room, retreating to her quarters for the evening to meditate and reflect upon what had transpired. She grimly looked towards the morning, when she would return to the gathering, her luck permitting. I'd just like to point out that the above two statements by Maniko are just a bunch of roleplaying acting, and while it looks like she's said a lot and might have thought about what she said, she really just voted for Yasu without providing any real reason. And I don't think the second statement has anything to do with the situation, other than that it includes the really MegaBloky excuse that she can't answer Yoshiko's question because she's too far away for Yoshiko to hear her.
fhomess Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Now that I have had some time to think things through and review all that has been said, it seems pretty clear to me that we cannot keep Yasu around. Either she is scum or she is a dividing force in our family. She cannot be trusted with what information she might learn would she become a part of a core group of us dedicated to rooting out the mutineers. The best case scenario appears to be one that merely adds confusion to our cause. I've taken some time to review all that's gone on today and there are some situations and statements that are jumping out at me as potential red flags, but nothing more than that. I had thought about voting for someone other than Yasu merely to get conversation going on them, but having had some time to think about it makes me feel like it may be better to wait and see how those suspicsions play out tomorrow. None of them are even close to the issues that Yasu causes us. As I sometimes tell my students, never punch a potential friend if a known enemy is present. Yasu, regardless of your affiliation with the mutineers, you are not a friend of the Family. Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder)
The Legonater Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I decided not to clutter this post up with your other quotes, but your defence is very limiting and everything you say screams out inexperience and stupidity. This seems logical to me, unfortunately. However, I have noted- as others have, it seems- that whether loyal or not, it would appear as Yasu's apparent inexperiance would be a virus to our searches. Thus... Ctrl-Alt-Delete Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder)
