MetroiD Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 So, pushing Yasu a bit more privately actually sounds like a good idea. Good idea for what? At that point, Yasu had already single-handedly sealed her fate. Her claim couldn't save her, why should anyone's suggestions as to whether she's loyal or not save her? She is obviously incapable of being useful, even if she does in fact have an important role to play, which is why the entire Family seemed unanimous that this was a calculated risk. After her conduct throughout the Day, for myself I know that nothing Norio could "fish out of her" would change my point of view regarding her sheer incapability to be of use to this Family.

After her conduct throughout the Day, for myself I know that nothing Norio could "fish out of her" would change my point of view regarding her sheer incapability to be of use to this Family. I think we all agree she wouldn't have been very helpful. But knowing whether she was telling the truth about her role, especially when she turns out to be a mutineer, can be valuable later on. If she's a mutineer, it means that she doesn't need to have the "role cop" ability herself, because she would know about the results her scum mates would get and could "verify" herself that way. It may well be that the mutineers picked one of the abilities they actually have and use that as a claim in case one of them would be heavily accused. So, if she turns out to be a mutineer tomorrow morning, we know we may still be up against a scum role cop. And if she turns up town and we would have somehow been more confident that she actually was our "role cop", it's unlikely that there is another one among us. So, no townie could claim that role anymore. It's not a lot of information that was to be learned and it remains to be seen whether it would have been useful to know later on, but in situations like these, isn't all information valuable?
XimenaPaulina Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Oh Okasan Yasu, why? Why did you have to put the name of our famiry to shame with how you acted in this famiry gathering. It pains me to see that my own mother is being unanimousry suspected as a traitor of our proud Yakuza famiry. Even more painfur is I have to put my vote on you too, seeing as Otosan Minoru has done the same thing. I'd hate to see you go Okasan, but hopefurry this wirr urtimatery be for the good of our famiry. Vote: Yasu (TheBoyWonder)
MetroiD Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Solid reasoning, Kin; good job, young one. That kind of explanation was what I was looking forward to hearing from Norio in the first place, to be honest, especially considering his vast experience with such dealings. And before he jumps on me again - no, I do not need him to hold my senile old blind and misguided hand, nor would I ever want him to do so considering the amount of disrespect he's shown; but what I do need is proper argumentation. Everybody is looking for some information to grab on to right now, but how you go about it and validate it before the rest of the Family is what counts. Shaky nerves will get us nowhere.
Fred Daniel Yam Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Good job, my son. You are learnin' this quickly. The accused is your mother, but remember, in a family like ours, you never know who's out to get you.

I'm sorry that when I spelled it out for you in private you couldn't have given me the benefit of the doubt. I blame you for that, and not my choice of words. The others I had to explain the exact same thing to got it on the first try.

I believe Norio translated exactly what he wanted to say. I'm not sure why you didn't understand it esteemed Senpai. Also, I would like to add, if Yasu-chan had indeed revealed some useful information, or even bothered to put up a defense near the end. She may have been spared her fate, which is why Norio probed her like he did. So, I imagine that many would have retracted their earlier statements if this were the case. I know I would have. However that didn't happen, which is why Norio revealed his findings. If their legitimate that is...
XimenaPaulina Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I know I am one of the youngest members of this huge cran and I may not have spoken much today but from what I've ristened I didn't see anything particurarry wrong with Norio-sama reserving his right not to divurge what he rearned (then) privatery with my Okasan. I certainry trust his judgement in these situations and I wouldn't even question why he doesn't want to divurge anything this early. On the other hand our great grandfather Nobuo-sama has been one of the most outspoken among arr of us today and from what I've been seeing he is rearry working doubry hard to find significant info that wirr herp us weed out the Mutineers amongst us. I highry respect both Norio-sama and Nobuo-sama, as they're essentiarry pirrars of our great clan, and I hate seeing this petty bickering between them. For arr we know, both of our esteemed erders could be royar Yakuzas afterarr, so continuing this pointress tirades against each definitery won't herp our cause. I appeal to both to prease carm down and ret coorer heads prevair. If you can't work with each other then at reast stop fighting in front of us, especiarry to an innocent (but admittedry naughty) kid rike me. Arigatou.

MetroiD Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I'm not going to hold my breath for an apology though Apparently, neither should I. And yes, I have said all that I had to say on this matter. Lloyd Jr., I must commend your tact and coolness, as well as your desire to be reary usefur to our Famiry. Thank you for keeping a cool head, unlike some of us. A lot has been said today and only time will tell what part of it will prove to be useful and what will be forgotten as ramblings of deluded men.

MetroiD Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I'm sorry I wronged you by not blabbing every detail to you on day one I'm sorry I disturbed your peace of mind by asking that you conduct yourself with a bit less aggression and a bit more cooperation. Tabula rasa.

So you missed the PMs that I sent where I was cooperating with you? Where I explained what I was doing with you? I showed them all here, haven't you read them? Lots of cooperation from me with lots of people. The main aggression has been you coming after me for 24 hours now. It's amazing that you can't see that whatsoever. Tabula rasa indeed
Peanuts Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I'm glad Norio-sama and our Kumicho have been making peace. So much arguing about a point which seems rather trivial to me certainly isn't going to help the Yakuza at all. And talking as much as Maniko without making any point but following what others said before isn't the spirit a true Yakuza should aspire either. I think, it's important that we talk efficiently, without wasting both our time and the time of everyone who listens (which, as I hope, should be everyone assembled here).

Well said, Lloyd Jr. Norio-sama has been dealing with these sorts of situations for a long time now (in the secret service, of course), and if he doesn't feel ready to share info he has yet, then I completely understand. No one can blame Father for being curious, but he was definitely mistaken if he thought he could just 'say the word' and receive any info he wanted. Very often in these sorts of situations, the top two 'towniest townies' end up bickering at one another very early on, and I'm inclined to believe that's what's going on here. Both Norio-sama and Father have been outspoken and hardworking for our cause so far, and I doubt that the Mutineers would risk putting their necks on the line in such a way this early.

Scubacarrot Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 When is Yasu-chan going to vote ??? What is the point, you want to achieve with that, if I may ask?
Tamamono Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 When is Yasu-chan going to vote ??? It doesn't matter if she votes or not - the day's already almost over.
Professor Flitwick Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 When is Yasu-chan going to vote ??? *sniff* I'm fairly certain she's thrown in the towel. I'd be surprised if she speaks up at all in the remainder of the day, let alone vote.
def Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I think Yasu-chan's disappearance is pretty much an admission of guilt. She has had plenty of time to explain herself. I can't think of any other reason to entirely give up

I can't think of any other reason to entirely give up I agree. I was pretty quick to believe her roleclaim, but no true Yakuza would simply throw in the towel and walk away when something like this happens. I certainly hope we've caught our first Mutineer in Yasu-chan!

I can't think of any other reason to entirely give up If she never really tried in the first place. She already acted like she'd given up a while ago: I make one statment, not even in the day thread, and I am lynched.
def Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 If she never really tried in the first place. She already acted like she'd given up a while ago: It's true, but true Town tend to maintain their innocence until the very end. The only other interpretation I can make is a matter of dishonoring the spirit of the family. A true Yakuza is いつも頑張っている... Always trying their best. Feeling that they are hopeless is not a reason to abandon the family. If one is going to take that approach, they may as well commit 切腹 before we've even began
CMP Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 It's true, but true Town tend to maintain their innocence until the very end. Hell, even a true scum will do that. Lazy scum or lazy town, unless she wasn't lying about her role, she doesn't seem like she would've been much help anyway. Let's just hope it's the former.
