Hello everybody! I don't really like this situation. What if we lynch the wrong person?? :cry_sad:

Yasu's statement was a bit strange, but it could be nothing. We'll have to think a bit more, although I doubt we will get any concrete evidence now.

I believe that's a risk we have to take, as someone is going to vote anyway, so we will get a conviction, no matter what, and since all "evidence" we could get would be circumstantial at best, all we really can do is to make sure that we won't convict a person who's outspoken and proactive. So no matter who we kill, we can't get too wrong, if we use our heads. I'd prefer to kill a Mutineer rather than a useless Templie, but if we are wrong and whoever we kill was no Mutineer after all, we still won't have lost too much.

And Yasu's statement certainly wasn't "nothing", Shiro. I still don't really think she's scum, but together with her deficient "defense" it's a testimony of stupidity, if you ask me.

It pains me to say it, but let's try to get through day one without calling people stupid. Let's start off on the right foot :sweet:

On my part, I am even trying out a new catch phrase...

Scum or not paying attention...

No, that has no rhythm.

Scum or naive...

No, that has no zazz.

Scum or confused...

No, that won't work :cry_sad: I'm going to go off in the corner for a little bit and work on my sloganeering. When I get back, I'm inclined to vote for anybody who has made only a single statement in the time leading up to this statement. I'm not going to count now, but the record is there. Now, with voting on the verge of opening, those who have elected not to take part up to this point will likely be one of the ones worth removing :sadnew:

That's a risk we have to take every day, and you are experienced enough to know this. That is the way we make progress. Even if we lynch a fellow townie we may be able to gain information by analysing who votes and when.

I've been reading through what everyone has said so far, and there is little to help us at this stage; but then there rarely is. Your statement stood out as being odd for someone who knows how these games work. Then there's Yasu, whose response to the accusation hasn't exactly helped to exonerate her, but it's hardly concrete.

We have to lynch today. Yes, there's a risk we'll vote off a townie, but not voting only helps the scum.

I can see why you are doubting me, but it is not exactly the best logic. True people have died for less, but it is unprofound, pushing a lynch on something that has happened outside of the day thread.

This response just reeks of scum. You see our logic in suspecting you for your slip-up, and you're trying to shoot it down by saying that it's unfair since it happened before we had all arrived.

I can't stay awake all night to play mafia.

Nor can I. As a matter of fact, I just woke up from a good night's day's sleep. Was I worried that people would say I'm 'inactive' and try to point the FoS at me because of that? No, I wasn't, because I'm innocent and I have nothing to hide.

I said I would be gone, because I can't be there for the start. I have seen people lynched for quietness.

Yes, plenty of people have been lynched for quietness in the past, but please keep in mind, there are 72 hours many hours in the Day, and inactivity is unlikely to get you any attention until the waning hours of the Day.

Plus, we all understand that not everyone is on the same timezone that not everyone's body clock is adjusted to the current time yet. If we had been looking for inactive family members and someone had mentioned you, I or someone else would have looked at your profile to see when you were last on gone to your room to see if you were awake and seen that there was no way you could have participated because you were sleeping. Lynching someone because they are on the other side of the world sleep at different times than you do would be incredibly stupid.

And why do you think people would try to get you especially? I think what's going on here is that Yasu-chan is scum, and she was scared that people would find her out. The scum all know something we don't, and one of the best ways to catch scum is to catch someone who seems to know more than everyone else even though they shouldn't. At this point, all the scum know is who is on their team and who isn't (unless they have some sort of secret weapon this game), but this is still very valuable info, and something that they are pretty likely to accidentally give away. The scum (especially noobish scum like Yasu-chan) know that we're going after them, and they think that it only makes sense for us to be accusing them. Because they know who they are, the scum automatically think that there is something different about their behavior - even if they're playing pretty well. In reality, it's very unlikely that anyone would have gone after her for inactivity - even if she had kept her head down most of the Day.

I am very confident that Yasu-chan is scum, and I will certainly be voting for her when the time comes (unless something else comes up, but that's pretty unlikely).

I'd be happy to stick with the 3:1 ratio, meaning that, all together, we'd have about eight enemies to get, and more if there were two factions. I don't know that there are two factions, but with so many of us here, it's a definite possibility. On the other hand, if there were more than one faction, there is a solid chance that it's even easier for the hontonoyakuza (real Yakuza) to prevail, since the factions would have to take out each other too (unless they were to end up combining :sceptic: )

Anyway, until we find out there is more than one faction, I'm sticking with that 3:1 ratio :sweet:

I have to agree with Norio-sama here. Multiple factions and converting cults aren't the most common things around, so it's pretty likely that there are seven-eight scummos here for us to catch.

It seems pretty clear that Yasu has made a significant mistake regardless of whether or not she is a mutineer. That said, I'm not surprised by an overly paranoid reaction given the original statement was already overly paranoid. Perhaps this is a good lesson for all of us. As I remind my students, a calm and clear mind can overcome a stronger foe who lacks clarity of thought.

My guess is that if Yasu is not a mutineer, the mutineers are cheering at their good fortune. If Yasu is, they're probably scrambling. At this point, I'm still very much on the fence on Yasu, but I'm fascinated by the discussion surrounding her behavior.

On the matter of the 5 genies, I'm not prepared to read too much into it until we have more to go on.

Maybe a little harsh to judge the quite ones so quickly, but I tend to agree with you anyway. If they don't contribute it's better to get rid of them. I bet we will get at least some scum that way. Those innocent ones who haven't spoke should try to do so and voice their opinions even if it doesn't bring up anything new, it will be helpful for further investigations I think.

5, 7, 8? Any more bets? The more scum there is the chance of voting off one of them is higher too, right? :sweet::thumbup:

Uhm, wait a minute... :look:

Bah, whippersnappers...

I have been observing all the discussion about Yasu's statement, and I refer to what I said earlier, I think it may very well have been said because of experience, and eagerness to live (without dying first) OR it was a bad move by a Mutineer, I am leaning towards the second option, since her defense was not very convincing, for me, then again, let's see what else comes up.

Posted

I'm only defendin' her because she's my wife...

We've got to root them out quickly and efficiently. Float as a butterfly, sting like a bee.

You do realize that doesn't justify anything, right? Relations are of no importance in this situation and we shouldn't let roleplaying emotional attachment interfere with how we handle the situation. And the second part of your statement is utterly useless.

Hello everybody! I don't really like this situation. What if we lynch the wrong person?? :cry_sad:

That's a risk that's always there. Always. There can be no certainty in these situations. The only 'confirmed Templies' are dead Tempiles, and on Day 1 especially, there's usually never anything close to concrete evidence. If we're always afraid to lynch the wrong person, we might as well never vote.

Okay, looking back, my statement was not thought through. At the time I thought it was a fair comment. It seems it was not.

That explains nothing. Whether you thought through your statement or not, the fact remains that you said it. god has told me in private that I shouldn't use information from the time we were gathering together against you, so I won't mention again why that statement aroused my suspicion (besides, I'm tired of explaining it over and over again), so I'm going to base my suspicion on your reactions Today instead. Your statement that I have responded to here is really an admission of guilt. Your previous statements never directly addressed the accusations, you tried to get around them by saying they were technically invalid, and you acted as if your lynch was set in stone. That tells me that you really can't think of anything to disprove my theory and you're defending yourself with, as Ichirou says, whiny comments calling my accusations unfair. I know where my vote is going.

Do you think the silent people are inactive or lurking?

And why is my husband, Daisuke obsessed with Elvis ???

Because I'm the King!

A-movin' on to more important matters...

Yasu's initial statement strange due to the concept, a-brought forward by Emi, that Yasu seems to worried about a-recievin' suspicion. Why a-she so worried about her specificly getting suspected, surely seein' there are thirty-two of us there would be other suspects before her not havin' woken up. Made even more suspicious by her reaction and constant misunderstanding that she was being accused of being inactive. I doubt a-many people can stay up all night to a-play mafia, so we combat this by trying to use our time helpfully.

And her response to a-the allegations is rather suspicious as well. Yasu used the all-to-common bad-tell of saying 'your logic is bad/you have no evidence' rather than explaining why she isn't bad. If you are really one of us, a-please show that. It is far too easy to say someone's argument is flawed when faced with suspicion, but if one wants to really prove their worth, they should say why.

A-referin' to the number of us loyals to them, a-usin' experience from previous books, a common amount would be about five or six. But a-since our group is far larger than a average group in books similar to our predicament, maybe around the 6-9 area, possibly with a few oppotunists.

Hmmm. The attitude I've observed today by some members of the family leads me to believe that Father is very much right, even if his clairvoyant dreams might have seemed a bit strange at first. There have definitely been a few people trying extra hard to lead the Family to misjudge the circumstances, and that has definitely aroused my suspicion, especially considering their vast experience and knowledge of such situations.

As to Yasu - I have said all that I had to say about you, girl, and the fact that you're letting precious time pass while just watching from the sidelines and not actively trying to build a strong case against these accusations, as any true Yakuza would (should and could), just shows that my initial fears will probably be proven right.

I was a bit sleepy, and forget most lunches due to silence happen late day 1. I know I am innocent and was making sure The town did not make a wrong lynch?

My defences were lame, as I am not experienced, I have never been a major lynch target before. I got a bit frustrated, lost my cool and came out with some crappy defences.

Hello everyone, Im here don't worry, you can all eat me out drop your kids in class now. Oh wait, it seems we have a problem *oh2* Hmm, well Im gonna avoid the typical I don't know shit and move on to some more important things. Like finding a little black book and making a page for each of you.

So, for day one lynch candidates, I'm leaning toward someone whose behavior isn't helping :sceptic:

I agree, for me unless something serious comes up (which I know it won't) I am gonna try and vote for someone inactive, well we will see how that goes as the day processes. For now just watching and preparing is the best idea.

Anyway, until we find out there is more than one faction, I'm sticking with that 3:1 ratio :sweet:

I agree, some how in all my years of teaching, I haven't heard of the 3:1 ratio but it makes perfect sense to me and I can stick with that as a rough figure of 10ish. Lets adjust that slightly, I can guess its about 8/9 mutineers.

You. Are. Not. Suspected. For. Inactivity. There was no reason you couldn't just tell us you'd be offline asleep.

But I can't elaborate on that because, according to you, it's 'unfair', and because god has asked me not to.

My defences were lame, as I am not experienced, I have never been a major lynch target before. I got a bit frustrated, lost my cool and came out with some crappy defences.

Then why don't you give us some good defenses? Stop trying to justify your statements by telling us how you thought the wrong thing. You just admitted that you made a suspicious statement and failed to make any sort of defense.
Posted

You said it, Yasu! Now we have to see whether your admittedly lousy defense will save you. On Day One, with nothing else able to be confirmed, it's not looking good for you when voting opens.

And this-a proves your innocence?

This-a makes me even more sure you ain't good, once again instead of a-respondin' to our allegations, ya bypass them. Why ya do that? Admittin' your defence was-a bad don't make you seem no less bad, in fact your reluctence to address them is a-rather fishy. Experience is-a one thing, but lack of it ain't no excuse to anythin', ya might wanna try tellin' us why you ain't guilty, instead of goin' past the questions.

I got suspected before even posting. You would be surprised. And when I did post, I was defensive. It is human nature.

:hmpf:Again, you fail to actually present a good defense.

We know you made a MegaBloky defense. You admitted it yourself. Justifying it doesn't change anything. Okay, so you were surprised and defensive. Fine, I accept that. You still haven't presented any actual defense.

Do you think the silent people are inactive or lurking?

*sniff* Need I remind you, Tamiko, that 24 hours a third of the day has yet to pass. *sniff* In a day or two we could see inactivity, but it's hard to see now, what with time zones people being busy.

I was a bit sleepy, and forget most lunches due to silence happen late day 1. I know I am innocent and was making sure The town did not make a wrong lynch?

*sniff* If you were so worried of being lynched for 'inactivity' why couldn't you of just waited until you woke up could join in, and help us, as opposed to trying to save your own skin?

My defences were lame, as I am not experienced, I have never been a major lynch target before. I got a bit frustrated, lost my cool and came out with some crappy defences.

*sniff* We all started somewhere in these games this family, and many hit the ground running. You shouldn't give up just because you relatively new to the life of crime.

I got suspected before even posting. You would be surprised. And when I did post, I was defensive. It is human nature.

*sniff* Lets not confuse the issue, you were suspected for posting something that you shouldn't of, related to these events, when we were all gathering for this family reunion.

Honestly, you're really trying hard to make me re-think my earlier apprasial. While I didn't rank your initial statement (which apparently shall be disregarded right now) as scumtell, right now you act more and more suspiciously. You "forgot most lynches due to silence happen on late day 1"? That's nonsence. You either are aware of the fact or you are not, but you can't forget it. And your defenses were not only lame, they didn't even reply to the accusation, and you still haven't done so. And, while you initially told us not to suspect you for inactivity since you were sleeping, right now you have been talking to us several times and yet you haven't said anything but these "defenses" of yours. Not quite what I call activity, either. :hmpf:

Given the large amount of people in this family, 8 or 9 scummy traitors seems quite reasonable. But also more difficult for us in that they can manipulate votes and hide behind the scenes easily.

I would also not be surprised if there was a third faction, however it was not seen in Senpai's vision. :sceptic:

Defensive, yes. But you could have addressed the accusation, as we have told you a hundret times now. Honestly, in the Yakuza we have no need for people who panic and brain-freeze at the first sign of suspicion. Not at all.

Oh and I just made some fresh Tempura Shrimp, anybody want some?? :classic:

Yes, thank you very much. It's not healthy to catch scum on empty stomach, is it?

Thats not really much of an excuse is it? At least you could defend your poor defence better :sceptic:

I don't really think Yasu is scum, although one day 1 we must follow the weakest of leads.

Wait, what? Have I missed something? When was there a mention of specific factions in the vision? :look: I thought the vision showed there was only one Yakuza left. Also, in most similar situations I've read about, we're not supposed to try to find clues in pictures infer too much from what is retold to us.
