Zane Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Here. Could take a while to adjust to. Looks good though. Discuss.
Holly Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I saw the changes earlier today - I know what you mean about taking a while to adjust to it - I spent ages trying to get any of the pages to open for me until I realised that you have to click in a very specific spot to get them to open at all! Holly
xenologer Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 GAH! it's all Flash and ActiveX controls. Seriously, webpages that sell stuff should be about Easy of Use, not how many cool tricks you can add. The old one worked and looked perfectly fine and didn't alienate people with low powered browsers.(or people with security settings) This one... can potentially hurt sales for some people... Their graphic designer is just trying to make work for himself so they don't realize he's overpaid...
phoinix Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 i think it has a nice clean look to it it will take some getting used to but its not that hard to use... the pictures also look better and bigger... *sweet*
Holly Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 I've just been browsing the site (and adding some stuff to my wish list!) and I noticed the sandcrawler, clone turbo tank and droid tri-fighter have all disappeared since I last looked. I suppose I'm quite lucky in that I got the CTT for my birthday in September and have the sandcrawler stashed away for my son for Christmas. It's quite annoying not knowing when items are going to be discontinued though - I had both in my basket for ages before buying them (dithering about whehther I had enough cash or not) and could have easily missed out. Holly
gylman Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Hmm... still exploringt this new look. One thing I don't like is that I can look at ALL recently added products on the "What's new" page. In general it seems a bit harder to navigate, but of course that could just be a matter of getting used to it.
Hobbes Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Why, why, why is everybody changing their websites... and evertime it's for the worse... :-| >:-(
Starwars4J Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Why, why, why is everybody changing their websites... and evertime it's for the worse... :-| >:-( That's progress for ya :-P
xenologer Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Why, why, why is everybody changing their websites... and evertime it's for the worse... :-| >:-( to quote myself... Their graphic designer is just trying to make work for himself so they don't realize he's overpaid...
Lost Viking Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Is there anyway just to look at different sections or do you need to do a search for every set? Edit: Nevermind, I figured it out...
Cabby Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Good thing is it now autodetect browser language. *y* It was a bit of a pain to display it in the desired language every time i visited. :-|
snefroe Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 what i don't understand is their 'top 25 hit list' . 'it's updated daily', they say, so was there a starting point, like august the first or something, or do they just create a new list every day? What's the point in giving us a hit list if we don't get the right info to analise the statistics for ourselves... :-|
Mr. Lego-builder Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I think it is more streamlined actually. For example, all of the Themes are listed under one place, not like the previous version where it was seperated into subcatagories. My one problem with this is that the new version tends to look out of place compared to the rest of LEGO.com, but I have a feeling that this might get updated in a short time as well...We'll see... P.S. Has anybody noticed these under CITY Town Essentials? I have never noticed them there before...
Scouty Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I like the new look. But it looks like alot of other selling sites. I liked the uniqness of the old style.
gylman Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Having used it for a few days now, I have decided that i hate the new look. The worst thing is that I can't get a quick look at "what's new". I have to click each category in turn, and then it shows me all of the sets in the entire category, not really the new ones. Also, it clearly requires more clicks and longer loading time to get to what I want. Definitely this is not a improvement. >:-(

Definitely this is not a improvement. >:-( I totally agree with you Gyl ;-) and I have visited it twice only :-D Since I rarelly order from S@H and I usually looked sets, I will stick to Amazon.de !! Technology is not always an improvement, and TLC showed us exactly how true this last stament is !! They should stick to please fans in TOYS and not satisfy some Technology crazed nerd in TLC's HQ >:-( S@H really lost its kid friendly atmosphere and at least one lurker - me !! *yoda*
KimT Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Sadly it's has become more difficult to navigate the shop. Why did they do this to a well-functioning webpage. KimT *n* *n*
gylman Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 It really bothers me, because unlike you Yoda, I browse the shop several times a day, just to relax for a minute before I return to my work. Although this year I have bought much less set because I am unhappy with the Canadian dollar pricing, in the past I have done MOST of my buying from Shop@Home, and I still buy accessories, sales, and miscellaneous bricks, from S@H. Because of this incessant browsing, a couple of times (you guys may remember this), I caught the shop when they made mistake, pricing stuff in US dollar amounts for Canadians. They fixed the mistake in 1-2 hours, but I ordered before they fixed it, and I got HUGE bargains on choice sets. Oh well.... I sent them an email expressing my unhappiness. Maybe they will at least improve the ability to scan for really new items.
Holly Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 Oh well.... I sent them an email expressing my unhappiness. Perhaps everyone here who is unhappy with the new layout should also email them? It might at least get them thinking..... Holly
