Burf2000 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Just doing my daily (ish) forum read, Eurobricks has become my main posting ground really (this section only). We need more people to build kick big behind robots and crazy stuff. Don't get me wrong I enjoy the technic vehicles as much as the next person, and the skills people use to build them are out of this world. However! there just seems to be soooooo much of it. Is it only me who wants to take over the world? I do love KEvron clocks though, so he is not included Please feel free to destroy me, pull my hair and call me bad names :) Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I don't build robots..........but if i did i would be one of the best. Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 I like your style! 'Style, control, damage and aggression' thats what the judges are/were looking for on Robot wars. Quote
timslegos Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 well the limiting factor for me is parts. i dont have anywhere near enough parts to build a large scale robot. tim Quote

Ramacco Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 (edited) I think every builder has his own category of building stuff. Someone like building supercars ( e g Paul 'crowkillers' Boratko) others like buidling Trial Trucks, others construction equipment. But there also are people who like building all this types of vehicle. (e g Sariel, Nico71, jorgeopesi, Efferman, Guiliug ...) Since I build mainly robots and TrTr vehicles I know that the amount of people building this stuff is very small. It's very cool to see new robot projects posted here, but I think all builders should build the things they like to build. I read almost every topic here, and every one has his own coolness. So, Burf2000, I'm currently starting a new robot project (pretty big). Stay tuned, when it is finished I will surely publish pictures right here. (robot should be finished within 8 months - Lego World Zwolle) Keep on building! Edited February 23, 2012 by Ramacco Quote

Being mentioned between this tree big builders honored me, Ramacco don´t forget to give me your adress in order to send you a spanish ham , anyway I wanted to say when I read the post that I like very much the heavy machinery and the rest of things I do are only practice for more heavy machinery . When I was young 20 years ago... I used to do transformers with lego but actually robots seem to me very complicated but it is also true that two years ago I don´t know how to do even a gearbox, who knows if I see many robots as encouraged me to make another. Ramacco Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I want to say that I only mentioned a few builders who I admire and like following on EB. I know that there are thousands of good builders around here! I also want that say that you don't need a NXT to build robots. A very good example is GRUMPY Quote
jorgeopesi Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 GRUMPY nice head movement and funny . I know what you say there are a lot of good builders around here and I hope that we will be many more to build more things and to see and learn much more. Quote
Burf2000 Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 So, Burf2000, I'm currently starting a new robot project (pretty big). Stay tuned, when it is finished I will surely publish pictures right here. (robot should be finished within 8 months - Lego World Zwolle) Keep on building! OOO are you, I might have a secret project that I might take to Zwolle, but still under discussion. Love the little robot Quote
Rodeown Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I have an NXT system on order atm, I am interested in Robotics and automation as well as messing around in a mechanical way, hope to make some robots soon but am creating for the Competition at present, considering it was just over a month ago that i got into lego Technic I am Hooked already :-) Quote
Brickthus Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I see how the NXT system is dedicated to robotics but my personal preference for Robot MOCs is Power Functions or pneumatics without the software. I would not be averse to including NXTs if they solved the problem best, perhaps controlling PF with the IR Link sensor. I find that position detection is tricky to get right and I would not want to spend too much time on it compared to the design time of the robot. A few PF robots: Walking Robot, 2x XL motors, can turn like a tank and buck like a horse. Rover robot that can travel over uneven surfaces, tip and pick up objects (2x XL for drive + 2x M for tilt and grab). I used this to test the prototype PF parts. Automated machines concept with PF devices talking to each other. Pneumatics: Pick and Place robot (6 Large + 2 Small cylinders, 9 valve switches providing 4 functions with 10 movements per cycle) that moves bricks from a chute to a bucket. Continuously Variable Pneumatics including Stewart Platform WIP Other building blocks and concepts If I were to build another robot, it would all depend on the problem I had to solve. So many have been done a few times. Mark Quote

goldsun Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 (edited) Brickshelf - recent updates - technic Hi ! This is my WIP http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=506093 I hope ending this in two weeks, from 7th July we have exhibition in Museum in Krakow But maybe he will only looks fun, but not all working still. I'm steering it with 4 Ir-pilots, and I'm building demultiplekser for moving arms because of only 8 canals He has, - 4 XL for two independent caterpillars (left and right) - 2 Medium for rotating body - 2 Medium for pull-up/pull-down body - 3 Medium for addressing 8 outputs for arms (on both sides: shoulder, elbow, wrist and fist/fingers) - 1 xl for transmission this - and at least 2 lights :-) It's: 95cm height 65cm width 50cm length and about 8kg weight It's 6th version (first I'm building 3 years ago), and I think last without NXT Yet I'm fighting with changing centre of gravity after rotating/pulling body I'm building big turntable and it is unfortunately not stable And of course he is well inspired by Number Five/Johnny Five from "Short circuit" P.S. Sorry for my bad English :-) -- Łączę różne wyrazy i pozdrawiam Grzegorz "goldsun" Ludwiczek Edited June 23, 2012 by goldsun Quote

I know your fight with the center of gravity after moving the body, had the same issues on BOB in my profile picture.
