One of the Kingdoms sets "Escape from the Dragon's Prison" http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7187-1 released last year had the helmet with movable visor in the dark grey pearl color. I just ordered a second set of that one mainly because I like the Dragon Knight horse barding and the helmet.

The visors are my favorite castle item too! Wish LEGO would bring them out more. They seemed to pop up every year for kingdoms, but now kingdoms is gone so not sure when we will see them again. Cant think of any LOTR characters that use them...

That's false. That visor appeared quite regularly in Fantasy Era sets and also once in the Kingdoms line.

Edit: actually twice in the Kingdoms theme as the Advent Calendar also had one.

We have actually had a decent run with those. The theme before Kingdoms that was called 'Castle', presented lots of opportunitys to get them. We even had a nice Gold one. The 'Castle' tic tac toe set that sold for £9.99 here in the uk, had 5 fully armed knights with visors. This was the best knight builder set there has ever been IMO. I made sure I bought 10 of these sets, wish I had bought more now, as they are pretty expensive now.

They will always appear every now and then, Lego know its their most popular castle helm. I was quite surprised that they didn't give one to the knew Falcon knight in the joust set.

I miss those too. I think the feathers in the helmets looks a bit corny. (Off-topic, but still...)

Helmets with moveable visors came out in 70s. They were present as far back as the yellow castle. Those visors were probably the best parts of that set.

I also like these helmets a lot, but the new ones (Kingdoms sets) are great too!

The real helme that's gone out of production is the 'bullet head' one.

I don't think they appeared since lego castle went 'Modern' with bley bricks and such.

The type you mention is probably my favorite helm for a Knight thus produced by TLG. The other ones like the "Bucket" helm and "Globe" helm add a nice diversity to our range of Knight minifigures we can create. I am always hoping for them to be produced in new/unusual colors.

I certainly understand frustrations if you just started collecting LEGO castle. However, for those of us that have been collecting for many years, the new bucket helms are wonderful. I did grab 10 of those Dragon prison sets for both the great barding and the visored helm in the new dark pearl color.

Derfel I totally agree. I grabbed 4 of the tic tac toe sets and wish I got more as well.

Luckily over the last 25 years I have obtained over a thousand of the visored helms. I've only collected approximately a hundred of the new bucket helms. I only have 2 of the new black bucket helms from the joust set. That will be a very rare helmet indeed if it doesn't make it into a cheaper set someday! I should have LUGbulked that item now that I come to think about it! (Just checked bricklink) Wow those black helms are going for $4 USD.
