Posted February 28, 201212 yr Hollander’s Corellian Corvette. Hollander photo shopped these first two pictures. Hollander’s original LDD screenshot. Hollander was nice enough to share his LDD file of his Blockade Runner with me when I told him how much I liked it! I was able to build it with real bricks and a few changes. I changed the core of the hull and modified the engine block slightly to make the build sturdy. I also had to substitute a few bricks that I could not find in the right color on Lego or BL. I think I’ve maintained the beauty and elegance of his original design and I’m happy to add his creation to my collection. Thanks Hollander! All accolades to you my friend! A comparison photo.
February 28, 201212 yr Do you not have the fez pieces then Dapper? This design looks great in real bricks, and especialy next to the System version. Is that the mini Tan IV from the ISD set in the last pic?
February 28, 201212 yr Imo the changes you have made either due to lack of colour availability or to improve the strength of the model have not had any major negative effects on the aesthetic of the ship. One minor nit-pick from me would be that where you have used four 1 x 2 cheese slopes on the side you have lost the nice smooth transition of this to this. I appreciate that the white 2 x 4 double slope appears to be rare but I can't help but wonder how it would look in red or even if you used two of these? A minor gripe, and it's nice to see Hollander's design in real bricks - to you both.
February 28, 201212 yr Great MOC - and very swooshable! One nerdy comment though. Lego's blockade runners tend to use an engine design reminiscent of the corellian corvette seen in EP III. However if you want to mimic the Tantive IV engines, I would suggest using a slope brick that is one stud shorter on the outer engines reference.
February 28, 201212 yr It was you who took all the effort in building this with real bricks, Dapper-D2. I'm glad to see how much you like it to have another lego model to your collection. It's actually larger than I expected. I own the set 10198 too, which is a large set, and your midi-scale Tantive IV is about 2/5 of it's length, am I right? Anyway, it's great that you've build this thing for real. Thanks.
February 29, 201212 yr Looks good to me even the way you made it with the parts you had.. to you and Hollander for collaborating on this..

Is that the mini Tan IV from the ISD set in the last pic? What do you mean by fez pieces? That is a version of the mini tan IV I created based on the ISD set. I agree with you that the 2X4 slope would have been nice and that is how Hollander envisioned it, but I could not find them in white at the time and I will be placing them on my BL wanted list. That being said I think the addition of the red stripe in that area was a nice trade off. It was you who took all the effort in building this with real bricks, Dapper-D2. You’re right it is about 2/5 the size. Your version is also about half the size of the 10198 lengthwise. Envy is already hitting me up to make him one to add to his collection.

I agree, the red stripe is a nice compromise, that's what made me wonder if a red 2 x 4 double slope brick would also work (could be overkill on the red), there's currently only 1 white one available on the whole of bricklink . As I said, it was really just a small nit-pick - I really like this model and would actually like to build one myself - something similar to this would have been a nice addition to TLG's midi-line but alas they seem to have gone by the wayside
August 28, 201311 yr This might seem alittle late but, I really like both yours and Hollanders Blockade Runners. I've been messing with LDD for a little while now trying to recreate them. No luck so far. Is there anyway you could send me a copy of yours or his LDD files? I'd really appreciate it.

Let me know when you get 10 posts and I'll PM you the LDD link and pictures of the work I did on it?
August 29, 201311 yr Just as an observation, because I can't force either of you to do or not do anything in this situation, but it's generally bad form to join and have one of your first posts be a bump to ask for instructions or a CAD file. Additionally, this is Hollander's model, (Though I don't know how much Dapper has modified or what Hollander's conditions were upon giving him the LXF.) so I think it would be courteous to check with him first. Although he's not really active nowadays...

Let me know when you get 10 posts and I'll PM you the LDD link and pictures of the work I did on it? I was wondering how messaging worked. I thought maybe I broke something haha. I can recieve messages now and I also message Hollander asking about his. I'll have you know I built a blockade runner similar to yours but sadly I can't get the front to look nearly as well. That's mostly why I was asking about your model. Once I get the front fixed I plan on uploading it. I've been lurking on here checking out the creations people post for awhile but just never made an account. In all honesty I don't really need either file, just tips on how to create the front cockpit area. I was wondering if there was some trick to it haha. So again, I'm sorry for coming across as rude. And thank you for the advice. Edited August 29, 201311 yr by Jimosaurus
