"What? Who are you? And why does it feel like someone kicked me in the stomach?"

"Uhhm, drink will do that to you. :look: Ahem, as good Cronk here says, we're from Heroica. In addition to the questions he's asked, I'd also like to know if you recognise this amulet? Or what the markings on it mean?"

Nyx carefully shows the man the amulet, whist keeping hold of it.

Atramor nodded at his questmate's answers.

"Right. We're just tryin' to figure out what's going on with the guards, so we need ta' figure out what happened here last night."

"See anything? Barely! Ha! But in all seriousness, no, I did not see anything suspicious. Not that I don't know what is going on... The guards are disappearing in the district, I heard! It does not matter, us civilians just have to hang low for a bit, while the gangs fight over who gets to be the boss, and then everything goes back to normal. I bet the watch did not tell you that it charges 'protection fees' to the people here? Bah! They are no better than any gang... But my throat is running dry, makes it hard to keep talking..."

Cronk will offer Cronk's mead to the drunk for more information. Cronk would not have used mead anyway. Cronk does not use performance enhancing drugs for bashing.

Does drunk know which gangs are making guards disappear? Or is it all three? How angry are civilians to be charged fees by guards?

"Again, I suggest the Metasimian Ale...who cares if the old drunk gets poisoned? Better than us, eh?"

The man takes the mead Cronk holds out, and gulps it down in one go, he continues:

"Ah, that hits the spot, I heard they are making this stuff more expensive, shame. But where was I... Ah, yes, the Town Watch. I honestly can not remember ending up here, so I can not tell you what has been going on here. And I do not know who causes the guard to vanish, and I doubt people will tell you around here, no one is sorry to see them go. I can tell you, there have been no noticeable changes around here. The amulet, you say, lady? Eh, never seen symbols like it, could not tell what it is... But if you can give me a drink for the road, I could tell you who can!"

The man's eyes widen as he grabs the Ale Rufindel offers:

"Mercutio's sideburns... Is that? Metasimian Ale? I won't ask where you got it, it was declared illegal after people died from it. Hear it fetches over 300 gold a bottle, if you can find a buyer. But thanks! I'll be sure to enjoy that, later. Right, about this amulet, a few streets from here is an Antique Quarry... No that's not it, Anti Quarian... Well, a guy that knows his old stuff. You should go there. See you around, and thanks for the drinks, Hehe."

The man then walks off. Is there anything the party wants to do, or do they want to go on?

300 gold a bottle? :hmpf_bad: Why don't these things come with a price tag?

Shall we check out Auntie Quarry then?

Yes, if drunk man's aunt can tell friends something about the amulet, Cronk think that best place to start. Cronk think Cronk already find any clues to find here.

"....Well, what kind of idiot would pay 300 gold for a deadly bottle of monkey booze?!?"

Atramor grumbles heavily.

"Cronk's probably right, we've found everything of value...or, um, clues, here. I too think we go find this...Auntie Quarry person."

The party goes on to the place mentioned by the 'drunk'. It is only a short walk, but what they find there, is not what they expected:

The heroes can look upon them from a distance, from an alley. It does not look like they have seen the heroes yet. The party can tell that the Wolfgang members are discussing something, but they can not hear what is said. Perhaps a tactical approach would be best?

Atramor blinks at the large Wolfgang force, whipping his back into the alley. Leaning against one wall of the inside, checking the enemy's stats with his Cloak.

"We probably could openly reason with these fella's if we hadn't left their guy to rot in a jail cell...," he mutters to himself, which is getting rather repetitive. He quietly wishes Nur were back here, the Sorcerer had apparently had dealings with the gang before.

"Somethin' tells me their leader won't be sticking around for the fight...I think we can take 'em."

Posted

"Well they look a bit mean and nasty. And there's a lot of them. And they all have quite a bit of health.

If there is a more stealthy way to go about this then, frankly, I think we'd be better off. Atramor, don't you have any sneaky Rogue-ey characteristics that would allow you to eavesdrop without being seen? And if we must approach them, then I agree with Cronk that we should talk to them (nicely) and it might be best for Cronk to do the talking seeing as he's very diplomatic and friendly. If all else fails, perhaps we can draw a couple of them out at a time, so we wouldn't have to fight them all in one go? There would be a lot of free-hits we'd be taking; I don't share your confidence, Atramor, that we can take them all in one go.

I have a bad feeling about this, so just in case, I'm going to down another Tonic. If we do end up fighting it will be a long fight and I don't want to run out of Ether and have to risk breaking a nail. :cry_sad: "

"S'pose it wouldn't kill anyone to talk to them...though we would lose the element of surprise...."

Atramor attempts to eavesdrop on the Wolfgang. McCafferey remains motionless on his shoulder.

From his current position, Atramor can see the Wolfgang, but he can not hear them. Nyx remembers the wanted poster, and quickly sketches a map of the surrounding area on the back of it, with the green cross being the party, the red dot being the Wolfgang, and the blue cross being the antiquarian's shop.

Awesome paint skills.

Please describe where to go or what to do.

"I'm guessing that no matter how diplomatic and adorable Cronky is, it's probably better if we don't alert the Wolfgang to our presence.

So, we need to find a way to get past the Wolfgang, hopefully without getting our heads kicked in. I think we have time to throw a few ideas around.

Perhaps we could try to create a distraction? I could try to start a small fire in front of the warehouse to the left of the Antiquarian's place and we could then run round to the right while they go and watch the pretty flames? Is that too lame? Do you think they'd fall for that? Or shall we go the old-fashioned route of chucking something into the middle of them and watching them fight it out between themselves? It's a shame we can't use the crossbow Cronk has and just start picking them off one by one, but that's life I guess. Any other ideas? Hopefully better ones? "
