Where is justice in that either?

"Cronk, ya're talkin' to a criminal whose next trip out of jail will lead him to a noose. Stayin' alive seems like 'is mission.

Personally? I'd'nt hesitate to gut this damn fool...but look at who's left. A simple drunk, a ship's captain in for a bit of gambling, a provoked orc, a pickpocket, an' a pair a' paladins whose biggest crime is bein' annoying as hell. And they're up for execution just 'cuz there ain't space for 'em.

As long as we don't get found out, and some of these guys help out with the guards? I ain't got a problem."

Cronk agree that these are not exactly hardened criminals. Cronk would like to see some prisoners go free. But Cronk not like idea of killing guards only doing job.

Cronk ask pickpocket: How guards treating prisoners?

Posted

"Other gangs know better than to try and compete with us, they stay nice and safe in their own areas."

"Could I just ask, which gangs have the area of the 'Harbour district'? I just wonder, as a lot of this mystery seems to centre on the harbour district, especially considering the Paladins' ship."

Nyx turns aside to her companions and whispers out of earshot of the Wolfgang member

"I tend to agree with Cronk here, that killing the guards is no kind of justice. Plus, we're kinda here to help the guards, even though they've been a bit rude. Aaand the Wolfgang are notorious criminals, so I'm also not sure setting one of them free is such a good idea. I do feel a bit sorry for Grandogsh, though.... but killing the guards we've come to help just doesn't feel right, no matter how much fun it would be."

"They treat us better than I would have expected, to be honest. Two meals a day, which could be a lot worse. Also twice a day they let us use the bucket, for errm, you know. And they don't torture us, or anything, as long as you didn't count having to listen to that skeleton's rambling."

"The Harbour district is pretty large, so there multiple contestants. The three main players are us, the Wolfgang, the Metasimian gang, of which I can not pronounce the name. And this new gang, The Blood Fist or something. Obviously the Wolfgang is the most powerful, but I can tell from experience the others pack a punch, as well. You can bet all three jumped at the opportunity to get more turf when the Watch started moving out. Hear it gets bloody at night, fights between the gangs. Almost makes me happy I am here right now, I could have a Blood Fist spear in my stomach or a Metasimian arrow through my knee, would need another career."

"Not really, the Metasimians have been around longer than we have, and the Blood Fist is a combined effort of multiple small gangs, that were threatened to be wiped out."

"And no, not that I know of."

"What's with all the questions... But anyway, I don't know of any change in leadership, and I'm sure we would have heard of it. And Orc, you don't really know the city that well, do you? A better question would be: Who doesn't want the guards out? For now, I'm done answering questions, unless you help me escape."

"Well, it seems most of us are opposed to freein' the prisoners. Judging by our questioning so far, the town watch is corrupt (but that ain't much of a secret), and there's a few more gangs around the harbor."

The prison warden can be seen through the bars, looking impatiently upon the heroes.

"Right, well it would seem we've interrogated what we can out of these prisoners, at least as much as we can with out our weapons.... even though we've also managed to kill quite a few of them. By accident, obviously.

So, the general consensus is that we're not going to be helping the Wolfpack guy try to escape because he's inherently bad ('cos he's Wolfpack) and that it would also probably mean having to kill some guards, who may or may not be inherently bad too, but are kinda the people who hired us and that would just be a bit... rude. Sorted."

Nyx nods definitively with an unusual expression of seriousness on her face

Cronk thinks maybe ask guard why skeleton locked up here. Maybe Skeleton was involved in disappearance?

Cronk also think maybe we plead for the release of some prisoners? Worth shot.

"The skellie said he left his horse in a no-parking zone, but yeah, he could have been lying, after all Necromancers aren't exactly renowned for their truth-telling. :sceptic: I'm not completely comfortable with pleading for the release of a prisoner; I mean, I like Grandogsh and everything, probably the most out of all the prisoners, but he might also be lying and we don't know the full facts of his case.

The unfortunate side effect of our fight with Necro-pants does mean there's more room in the cell, so we could plead against execution, as, frankly, execution is sooooo last year. And messy; unless you burn them of course, in which case you can also toast some marshmallows, but I digress.... Cronk, if you feel in your heart that you wish to plead for a prisoner (or prisoners) then please do so, and I will respect that, but I don't really agree with you, sorry."

Right, I'm not sure we should be letting any of these guys out. We don't know if we can trust any of them really, and we might just be letting ourselves in for more trouble if we do.

If party is done then party should go. Cronk feel bad for prisoners but friend Nyx is right that party does not know how trustworthy prisoners are. Perhaps if party can succeed at quest, party can use influence to suggest guards make better justice system maybe with courts.

Party should not forget the helmet that Grandogsh wanted party to have as party leave.

Nyx waves at the impatient looking guard

"Coo-ee, hello! Errm, we've finished talking to your prisoners, and we'd like to be let out now please. It's getting a little smelly in here, and we seem to have extracted all the information we can. May we come out now please? :sweet: "

The prison-warden opens the door for the heroes, while the two guards on the sides of the door once again keep their weapons at the ready. The party walk on through to the other side of the metal bars.

"Well, the anti-magic spell we bought is working... Do ya know how much paperwork I am going to have to fill out now, I have four dead prisoners here! But then again, they would not live to see the next week, hehe."

The man opens the chest the heroes weapons were stored in, and gives them back to the heroes. The heroes strap on/sheath/pick up their weapons.

What does the party want to do?

What does the party want to do?

"The Party would very much like the shiny helmet promised to us by that nice Mr Grandogsh, please. :sweet: "

Nyx smiles sweetly whilst twirling her newly regained Dawnstar in her fingers. What little dim light there is glints off the pointy corners of its star. She then looks pointedly towards the chest, and back at the guard again, all the while smiling and twirling. She considers that if the guards have indeed said goodbye and have walked away, then there is no harm in very carefully (all the while checking for traps and alarms) checking the chest to retrieve the helmet promised to them by Grandogsh.

"Once we're done here, perhaps we should check in with Acting Captain Patricia, and if she's not got any new information, then we could head out to the Harbour district. I'd certainly like to investigate the Paladins' ship, and that's where this mystery seems to centre. Any thoughts, guys?"

Nyx realizes that the warden has walked off, and that the chest the heroes weapons were in is empty. The heroes remember an Evidence Chest, further down the hallway.

Atramor heads off down the hall, and opens up the Evidence Chest to examine its contents.

Atramor heads off down the hall, and opens up the Evidence Chest to examine its contents.

Man, you give me no space to introduce a new scene .

The party walks down the hallway, with the intention of quickly opening the chest, and get out, but they decide against that. The reason is that there is a guard, sitting against the chest. The heroes can not tell whether or not he is awake.

"Well, if the QM mentions out of the blue we don't know if he's awake or asleep, he's probably asleep if he's awake, I suggest Rufindel seals 'im and Cronk knocks him out. But somethin' tells me nobody's gonna agree to that...," Atramor whispers, punctuating the idea with a mumble, fingers wrapped around the newly-retrieved Leechfeather.
