Captain Grog Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I just moved to a bigger apartment where I have room to finally unpack my Lego. I want to set up Lego table but I need ideas. Something space efficient would be great. What kind of tables do you guys use? Post pictures if you can. Quote
Captain Blackmoor Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 The ground and my desk, but in most cases there's only space available for building on the ground as I've got the laptop on there playing music and to search for references (pictures, wiki's etc.) Such a bad feeling when you enter your room at night and you want to hit the bed, but you have to fight your way through the heaps of LEGO first. I'll post a picture sometime soon. And I've moved this to the Community forum. Quote

Something space efficient would be great. What kind of tables do you guys use? Post pictures if you can. I'd recommend one of those 90 degree desks you normally put in the corner. Mainly because you have a back wall to keep run away pieces from falling. Also, you have a lot of space on either side of you. This should be a fun thread to keep track of. I'd like to see everyones workstation as well. Quote

Ok then some pictures of my building table (link) http://www.flickr.co...57629161709064/ (I know that the pictures can be better, but the camera is broken during moving. So I can only use my mobile camera). Quote
Jargo Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I use an IKEA desk very similar to this minus the pull-out section. Mine is also deeper. It's quite large but does have plenty of room underneath and a decent building area. The plastic drawer units I store my lego in have a lipped top so I can use those areas for building too. This one seems quite good and not too expensive. a building area and a place to put stuff. Quote
Captain Grog Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 It's funny you mention Ikea, I found This last night. Quote
Rook Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 (edited) I use a drawing table on flat mode and a drop cloth laid over it so that pieces don't roll away. Edited March 6, 2012 by Rook Quote
Kerntechniker Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 (edited) Hi, I have a 1.5 x 3 meter table surroundes by shelfs for enjoying my bricks. one side: other side: Edited March 11, 2012 by Kerntechniker Quote
Palathadric Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I use my bedroom floor. Always the floor. And Captain Blackmoor, I totally understand the feeling of wanting to head straight to bed, but having to dodge though the Lego. Quote
caughron01 Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Me and the Family use our Kitchen table, perfect height, plenty of space, enough chairs for everyone to gather around, and don't get the back aches from working in a low space. Quote
Etzel Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Here is my LEGO corner: Work quite well, but anything larger then 48x48 studs is difficult to work with. Quote
Marckeyh Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I use the floor in the loft. There's real nice soft carpet, so it's great, but not ideal for my back. A proper workstation would be better, but at least now I have more room to store my collection. Quote

Something like this is what I'm looking for to help with my mild OCD. I suppose my next question would be what is the best way to organize your Lego? Quote
Si-MOCs Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Here is my LEGO corner: Work quite well, but anything larger then 48x48 studs is difficult to work with. Nice! great organization. I use a drawing table on flat mode and a drop cloth laid over it so that pieces don't roll away. haha I have the *EXACT* same drafting table... It was actually suppose to be my extra table for photography/large builds... but it's become my defacto building talbe because my kitchen table is over run Good idea about the cloth though... I don't know how many times things bounce and fall on the floor... Quote
Vindicare Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Hi, I have a 1.5 x 3 meter table surroundes by shelfs for enjoying my bricks. That...is...awesome! What a great set up you all. All that space. And that table. I'm turning green with envy! (just imagine his facial expression is this ) Quote
brickmack Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I have a 6 feet by about 1.5 feet wood table (which is in constant danger of falling over and need to be replaced...) which is against a wall (not ideal for building, but I have no room to put it in the middle because of my bed...) On the corner of the table is the Tower Bridge, and the rest is normally covered in random parts and drawings. Next to it is a few sorting drawer sets nailed to a wall. I'll post pictures if I manage to clear it off (currently covered by a large unfinished project that I dont intend to share yet). Quote
Darkdragon Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I use the plastic folding tables. This way I can rearrange things as my needs change. I have total of 3 6x2.5 foot tables (currently only two are set up), two 4x2 foot tables, and one 5x2 foot. The walls of my room are lined with shelves for parts, closet has unopened sets and boxes of unsorted parts. Since this photo, I removed one of the tables in the right side of the picture and replaced it with 3 shelf units. I like to use all plastic stuff (tables and shelves and bins) so i can dismantle/move/arrange whenever i want or need to. My LEGO Room Quote
LEGOman273 Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 I use the floor, but I may use a table once I finish sorting. Or not. Quote

Maybe you can post a picture, than we can think of a solution against falling over. This is indeed an unacceptable risk for a LEGO table. Quote

This is indeed an unacceptable risk for a LEGO table. I already know of a solution, it needs one of the legs screwed on (currently it's just sitting on one of the legs, but I've been too lazy to fix it... UPDATE: Finally fixed it, so hopefully it won't collapse and spray 80+ pounds of plastic all over. Edited March 12, 2012 by brickmack Quote
ACPin Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I've got a 4' x 8' work table where all my creations take shape in the basement. Here's a pic of all the MOCs that I brought to the show over the weekend. Fortunately there wasn't much damage in transit and some minor rebuilds done. AC PS. How does your own work area look like? Quote
Sam892 Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Until yesterday i only had my bedroom floor to build MOCs on however i have a small room which is about 4metres by 1.5metres. So I've cleaned it out cleared the dust and its now ready for some great creations. Theres already a table the whole length of the room for me to use in there. Your MOC area looks great. I would love to see some more pics of it. Quote
Siegfried Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Very nice... but this belongs in "General"... and probably merged too. Quote
