Skrytsson Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 2012 is the year when an Apocalypse will take place on Earth. If it doesn't happen throught attacking Aliens or throught a Zombie epidemic, it will perhaps happen as a cause of natural disasters - in this case an Earthquake. This is part 3 of my Apocalypse-serie. Recap: Part 1: Part 2: Imagine what it would be like to wake up to the day the world would end. Bad timing, uh? As long as I have liquor I'm fine! (I wasn't completely sure in what Theme-forum I should post this in; TOWN because it takes place in a house in a town/city - or Sci-Fi because it illustrates the future?). Hope you like it! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 This is great and I think it does belong in the town forum. Quote
TheKingOfBuilding Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Wow, the cracks and other damage details make this creation really realistic! You've captured the feeling of the scene brilliantly, and the flesh minifigs and use of textured bricks make it look so much more life like. Once again, you've done a excellent job! Quote
Lorentzen Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Amazing work - very realistic, beautiful and with great techniques all over the place Quote
eurotrash Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 I'm really digging all the architectural destruction detail - the cracks, the holes, the loose tiles, etc. It really does look natural and that it had just happened (minor quibble: Wouldn't there be more rubble in the street? and perhaps a burst water main?) Quote
Ash Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Fantastic! Love everything about it. The new brick pieces look really nice used this way. Quote
caperberry Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 As long as I have liquor I'm fine! it's like those '70s disaster movies where there's always a drunk character, and when the disaster happens, he is astonished, looks at his bottle, and throws it away convinced he's hallucinating Awesome MOC full of humour and great design. SeanM Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 This is a very cool MOC. I love the way you did the cracks in the street. Quote
Dakar A Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 As I said on Flickr, my favourite part is the knocked over trash can. I ALWAYS seem to knock them over when I'm adjusting my town layout! The colour blocking on this is great, and the visible minifigs give it a dash of flavour. Great work! Dakar Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Excellent structure, even more fantastic damage to it....great use of minifigs showing shock and awe at what has happened. Brick On ' Skrytsson' ! Quote
happymark Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 very "nice" for the build! really bad earth quake! love the pictures and details Quote
Redhead1982 Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 More than the earthquake, I admire your building's style. The colour combination looks great - dark tan and tan and dark medium flash (Is it correct?) together with the 'brick' bricks create a distinct texture that looks very impressive. Also, the plain roof with offset slopes adds a great touch to the building. The best part of this MOC is the effect of the earthquake - leaving all the tiny and some not so tiny cracks in the facade. It's done really well and has achieved a realistic effect. I'm liking this a lot. Quote
L@go Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 More than the earthquake, I admire your building's style. I agree! The scene is wonderful, but the building is absolutely stunning. The new 'brick bricks' work really well when used this way, between tan plates. It's a great design. I'd love to see it without the damage, too :) Quote
Xyver Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Your disaster pieces are truly amazing, keep them coming. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Great job on this disaster scene 'Skrytsson'! Talk about a rude awakening. Did the booze hound notice what was going on? The damage is very realistic and I really like the roofing technique used. Finally nice job on the other two scenes. The alien is awesome! Keep up the great work Quote
robuko Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 This is a great build but the timing of the post is dreadful, on the first anniversary of the Japan disaster. Quote
Vindicare Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Ooh! I'm glad you posted this. I saw this over on The Brothers Brick, and I was hoping you'd post it here. I love this house, the 'brick' brick walls. The roof is great. I love the cracked roads. Oh heck! I love everything. Great job on this. Quote
Farnheim Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 This is an awesome creation. The cracks and the level of detail are both amazing and realistic. Love that sense of humor you've put to the scene. Quote
LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 WOW! Superb work ...I just love this MOC! Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Great moc, you managed to give it a eartquake feeling so well. Definitely with the little scenes in the house Quote
Johan the Yellowhead Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Wow, fantastic! Love seeing those new 1x2 bricks in action. Besides the build, your photography is awesome! Quote
