Thanks DLuders for the welcome. Yes they are the Dick Cepek Giant Pullers from RC4WD. Though expensive, they are a good (and cheaper) alternative to Lego's power puller tires and at almost half the weight of the Lego Power Puller tires. The only drawbacks are the Dick Cepek tire is slightly smaller than the PP tire and the inner sleeve of each tire will need to be trimmed for two 44772 rims/wheels to fit (making sure to cut the correct sleeve for the thread pattern to always be oriented forward). I will take some comparison shots with the PPs when I can and post in the approriate thread.

@GDomino: That is awesome job on Zblj panther crawler. Nice work on using the Dick Cepek Giant Pullers tires. It looks bad to bone with'em on.

@Zblj: WOW! The panther is amazing and looks great too. I saw it the first day it was posted on youtube. I wanted to build it then but the only thing that was holding me back was the RC motors and the battery. I love the full axle frame design for the roll cage.

Hi guys,

Sorry to bump up an old thread. Newb at Technic after 20 years of my dark ages - but I've been lurking here for a while. I just wanted to show off my crawler (calling it Tarantula because of the tires) built around Zblj's Panther chassis. I may have went overboard with the roll cage but I like it. Thanks to Zblj for the awesome design - being light weight and extremely fast and having a good balance of weight and power! The way it is geared right now is that it is powerful enough for the Dick Cepek power puller tires (each having two 44772 rims). I just ordered the lighter Krazy crawler tires from RC4WD and will switch to using 12t/20t to see if it performs faster with decent torque.

You can also check out other pics at brickshelf: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=527946. I apologize before hand for the large image (if it shows)... Like I said, I'm new at posting here...

OMG! I totally love this!

NO you did not go overboard with the frame, its just soo Tim Cameron, (Showtime, I think its called)

Can't wait to see this new tire too.

Great job!

When I purchased the rock crusher xt's 1.9's I was looking for wheels which required two rims per tire. I'm glad you found me an answer, they look great. And yes power pullers do weigh a lot but are still good to own. For functionality yes tall skinny tires with tread will be best but I just love the look of wide monster truck tires. :)

Thanks Boxerlego. I'm looking forward to your monster truck also.

The inspiration for the frame were those rock bouncers and the formula offroaders, I'm glad you and Zblj noticed. I took pics of the new tires last night and just waiting for my folder to go public on brickshelf, kinda looks like a rock bouncer now. Thanks for the kind words.

Looks like the formula offroad with those wheels:

Sure does. Speed is almost on par also with the 12/20t in the portal hubs. Thanks again Zblj.

Glad I could help. I love monster trucks also and the main reason I got the Dick Cepek tires was originally for the 9398. Pics will come soon for the comparison with the PP tires and what the sleeve looks like (to trim).

Here's a pic of the lighter Crazy Krawler 1.9 tires along with the 12t/20t gears in the portal hubs. I like the speed this new set up is generating and also enjoy the new off roading capabilities, like kicking up dirt from the sudden burst of accelaration. Trully a perfect balance of torque and speed. This crawler really feels like a rock bouncer now...

Impressive!I liked the old tires better though, they looked bigger

Heh. These are my go to tires now for performance, but the Giant Pullers can still be used for display.

Awesome! Did you have to cut the rims to get them to fit?

The tire is the stadard 1.9 inside diameter that fits the 44772 rim, so no modifications to the rims or tire. I chose these tires for the weight, 67 g, and because they were on sale at RC4WD.

Here you go Tim. Just shot a quick vid so no fancy video editor stuff... Don't know if this will work:

Thanks for the video. I have always had trouble powering my buggy motors so I wanted to see how they drove with you.

The V2 IR receivers for each motor makes a world of difference.

Lol, now i need just 2nd battery to finish it

Then i will bash it

I use losi 1.9 rock bashers, they are great!

I think new my rc4wd 1.9 mud slingers are lost in the mail :cry_sad:

Are you powering one axle with one motor? If not I suggest you do as having the axles separate makes both motors use their max power

and you could set up the drive shafts to go diffrent directions to help with body roll caused by them.

Hope you like it!

I'm new to this site so sorry for being a noob lol ... I think this crawler is awesome! My question is, did you build this from your imagination or from following instructions ? Cheers
