Zane Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 I saw the Batcave in a shop today and was surprised to see that the box was only slightly bigger than the Batwing box - really small. Are Lego planning to carry on putting the bigger sets into smaller boxes? I'm sure they'd sell more - I'd certainly buy big sets if I didn't have to store a huge box.... Quote
natelite Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 i dont notice any size difference during my weekly visits. :-/ Quote
Zane Posted October 27, 2006 Author Posted October 27, 2006 0_o You sure? Compared the Batcave box to the Sentai Fortress box? The more expensive one is in a smaller box.... Quote
Sir Dillon Posted October 27, 2006 Posted October 27, 2006 I don't know anything about making the boxes smaller, but if they did, I would think they would sell worse, not better. Because if the box is bigger, it may look like your getting more for your money... Quote

It should be illegal, not cos its fools idiots but cos it wastes resources *y* Quote
JINZONINGEN73 Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 I don't know about making it "illegal", but it certainly does suck somewhat. Like, they make boxes sometimes REALLY large to make it look worth your money, but then when you open it up and see a few toss-away sheets of stickers & promo papers and 3 baggies of bricks... then your emotion changes to "burned". I do wonder if it's an issue in the job of packaging though. Like, I'm unsure how much box area is needed for their machines to toss the right bags and the right amount of bags before wide-scale errors begin to appear. It could just be a matter of making things easier for the machines so that things go faster & more accurate... and that too = profit. Quote
Dino_Bot Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Boxes should be made smaller!!BY LAW!!!! Well, no...but...I certainly wasn't impressed with the Dino thingy thingamajig tank...The box was huge. And even though Im thoroughly satisfied with my tank-y thingy, I think it should have been bigger. Quote
ReZourceman Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 Geeus Flipping Cist, tell me about it. The boxes are absolutely RIDICULOUSLY over-largre. I mean, we know they do it to make the sets look bigger etc but its SO stupid. They are a fricking pain in the big behind to carry around. Etc. Quote
KimT Posted November 3, 2006 Posted November 3, 2006 So we're discussing box sizes again are we? Man this is another never-ending story like the ever fiery new grey versus old grey discussion. The only thing to say is; the boxes have the sizes they have and that's that. Do as I do: 1. Open the box 2. Remove LEGO and instruction 3. Throw away box (enviromentally correct) 4. Use LEGO and be merry KimT Quote
Zane Posted November 3, 2006 Author Posted November 3, 2006 But what about people who keep the boxes? Quote
