Porty Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 And here we have a video to show what that little yellow couplet was all about. http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Porty/Aquasimulator/dscn5192.avi
Porty Posted March 18, 2012 Author Posted March 18, 2012 Has anyone checked to make sure the video works? I can't tell on my computer because I do not yet have the latest version of Quicktime.
Thelonious monk Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 can't play the video, it says the player does not support this video (I'm using WMP)
Porty Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 can't play the video, it says the player does not support this video (I'm using WMP) Ok, sorry. I'll get to working on it soon. I don't know what the difference between this one and my first one is, but I'll try to find out.
Siegfried Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 Ok, sorry. I'll get to working on it soon. I don't know what the difference between this one and my first one is, but I'll try to find out. It seems corrupted to me; too small. I get one frame.
Porty Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 Ok, another try on the video. I used a different camera with possibly even different settings last try, so I am retaking it now with a better camera. Waiting on it to upload to brickshelf
Porty Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 Wow, tons of progress today! I see the body coming together now.
Lipko Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 I want to build a personal watercraft for the contest too. Would it be unfair to look at your pictures? The idea came independently from your entry, and I would do things differently (I guess my conception in different). But the scale would be about the same, and the colors too, since I also have those pieces.

We already have two boats with that color scheme, wouldn't you want to do like blue and yellow or something? Other than that, I guess it would be fine. But remember, anything you do the same way as mine, since I posted it first, could be considered as plagiarism of my work. No copying the startup idea!

I only have red panels and some yellow beams... Anyway, I didn't know the "jet ski" is really a brand name and I didn't know the term "personal watercraft". I wanted to make a jet ski then I saw someone is just making the same thing already. So the moral of the story is... there's no moral to this story

I am still improving mine, it still has a little ways to go before it's finished. BTW, a functions list for so far: -Motorized drive -Motorized engine -When you turn the steering wheel, it turns the switch to turn on the steering motor whichever direction it needs to go -Throttle to go forward, reverse, or turn off -Opening hood -Working headlights to brighten that sea up -Trailer with working winch and easy-attach pin ready to hook up to any truck with a hitch Edited March 23, 2012 by Porty

Porty Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 3, 2, 1.... Yes, your video works now! Great! Looks like I won't have to make a Youtube account anyways. How do you like the startup idea?
Thelonious monk Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 progess looking good! is that rubber band an official lego piece?
Porty Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 progess looking good! is that rubber band an official lego piece? Thanks. Of course: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x71 I also used one of these: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=x89
Lipko Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Curse my slow connection. I cannot wait to watch the video. So many features stuffed into that small place and the shape came together quite well too. What do those yellow wheels do on the front? Are the colors intentional? Or do you only have those pieces? Some consistent coloring would help a lot to see how many functions there are. Now, if we haven't seen the progress and the video, it would be very hard to guess what that model can do.

Video coming soon. It was definitely a challenge to fit all those features into the internal of the jetski. The wheels are really just for show, but the M for the first letter of my name dangles from them. Sorry, I'll take a video right away. As I only have red 8261 Rally Truck, red 8051 Motorbike, and yellow 8067 Mini Mobile Crane, I did not always have the colors I wanted. I only had a few dollars to buy some panels off of BL.

Sorry, I meant my connection is too slow to watch the video you already made. Yeah, I have a similar problem but luckily (and a intentionally) I have a more consistent color palette to work with. The 9394 was a very good purchase, I almost have every red piece I need to finish the body (only almost, of course...). I'm using 9394 (I only bought that for its inventory), 8052 and 8265 for building (and some studeless pieces and pins from 8880). Anyway, mine is almost complete, as I have tons of time since my current job gets totally screwed... I wish I have had money to buy 8070 (which was planned before the job shit), because I could have built a full featured red quad to tow the jet-ski. It would have made a perfect "coastal rescue lifeguard whatever unit" entry. Edited March 23, 2012 by Lipko

It seems you have a decent collection of blue, but as I take it we both already had our's to far into the build to change. BTW, no cussin' on my topic.
Porty Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 The fact is that I probably won't try making it float, for fear of this: SINK, motors fried Should this make me disqualified?
captainmib Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 No, why should it? It's not a rule on this contest...
Porty Posted March 27, 2012 Author Posted March 27, 2012 No, why should it? It's not a rule on this contest... But does it hurt your chances of winning?
