rangermatt Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 I asked LEGO on twitter when the fire brigade will be discontinued and they said end of 2013 Quote
Lainey Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 This may be relevant. I have a Fire Brigade with the faulty instructions (some numbers missing) so I asked Lego to send me out replacement instruction books last month. This morning I received book 2, but no book 1, so I gave them a call. The lady on the phone initially said they were out of stock and would be back in stock on the 11th March, so she would ship them to me as soon as they came back instock. After hanging up, she called back a minute later and said that when she was reviewing my order, she'd realised the Fire Brigade had been discontinued so there would be no more instruction booklets made, and I would have to do without. She is emailing me the instructions as that is all she can offer me. Quote
nesquik Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Fire Brigade will be discontinued by July this year. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I know this is an old thread, but wanted to say that I just ordered the FB as of October 2013. After getting the Palace Cinema, I would really like to try more modulars. FB was ordered on the assumption that it would be the first to be retired mainly because it is the oldest one for sale at the moment. With the Parisian Restaurant coming soon, it would seem like at least one modular is going to be retired. Now may be a good time to get one if you do not already have it. Quote
paostmo Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 It's pretty incredible how long the Fire Brigade has been available. Quote
lego_ff Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I was at the King Of Prussia LEGO store on Sunday and Fire Brigade was out of stock of stock there with no more coming in. So I went online and ordered one right away since I need it for parts to mod my first that is already together. Quote

The Calgary Lego Store has no more stock and they don't expect to get any more in. Can still order online at lego.ca Looks like they will sell remaining stock and will probably be done by xmas. Still have 2 MISB sitting in storage :) Quote
alois Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I think there are by now thousands of people (including me) having one or more MISB FB's lying on a shelf, waiting for it to be retired. After a couple of years, we'll discover that we better use the bricks than let them stay in the box. Quote
Stefano Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 ow sh*t ow sh*t i need to order one (or two) asap, not to sell them again, well maybe i want to but i guess it will be flooded with FB's soon xD Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I heard from somewhere on here (unless I misread) that Fire Brigade AND Grand Emporium will be gone this year since they liked to keep 3 on rotation at a time. And since the FB was available for so long, it ended up throwing their discontinuation off a bit. Granted, with that mindset, the Pet Shop would be disappearing soon too with the release of the Parisian Restaurant and I haven't heard anything regarding that. So definitely get the FB if you can. I'd recommend getting the GE as soon as you can also. Quote
kermit Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Yes most likely the FB and GE will be discontinued together. They have been around the longest. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted October 9, 2013 Posted October 9, 2013 In the press release for the Parisian restaurant, it only mentions the town hall and palace cinemas as available modulars Quote
Andy D Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 It is amazing to me how many of this set I still see on store shelves. A couple of weeks ago they were still plentiful on shelves at my local LEGO store, and yesterday at Legoland CA they still had stock on the shelves along with al the other current modulars. Maybe it is discontinued, but not out of stock yet. Note to all of you saving the FB until it is old out and then waiting to jump in here with high prices... Good luck with that! I believe you may have to sit on it for years to get the kind of prices the CC and GG commanded, just too many of the FB and GE produced and sold and probably too many people sitting on it. I guess they could be sold out, not o be restocked in some areas, so... On the flip side, those of you wanting these two sets should get them so you don't have to wait years for those holding them to finally sell. Andy D Quote
Darth Dino Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Hi Discontinued is not being sold out. That can happen and it will, but it is no must. So the FB IS discontinued but still available. But if it is once gone, its gone. Every Brand Store i asked they said they do not get more sets if they are sold out. Dino Quote
Stefano Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 well discontinued or not, and maybe profitable or not, i just ordered my 2nd fire brigade, maybe if i have enough money at the end of the month i will buy grand emporium and/or another fire brigade just for parts... maybe if i don't touch it it will sit MISB in my bedroom, and i'll have to control myself and than hoping in 5 years i will get more for it than i paid for it, but hey: if you can't beat them, join them i have been frustrated about the fact that the cafe corner is now 600+ euro and the green grocer is going that way also, i'm not wanting to be here in a few years saying: ah hell why didn't i buy just a second set of that ? like i feel now for the green grocer, and dont get me started on the cafe corner, the one that got away.... Quote
KringlesBricks Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I know...I am thinking maybe I'll buy 2 of everything - build one, and let the 2nd sit for a few years...then sell to make a little profit. I mentioned it to TLG over the phone when I wanted to exchange a 2nd Haunted House for the Town Hall - I mentioned people re-selling sets at a higher price...she fawned on it. She said LEGO doesn't like it... Quote
fhomess Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 She said LEGO doesn't like it... It's called capitalism. If they want to keep the prices at retail, keep producing the sets. I'd love to get Cafe Corner and Green Grocer for the original prices. Quote
AFOLguy1970 Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Well, my FB arrived earlier this week. It was a nice build, but there was quite a surprise after finishing. Lego always provides some extra parts, but this is what was left over: DSC_0240 by stevesheriw, on Flickr Has anyone had a similar experience? From reading the forum, it appears some people are hoping the set retires soon so they can get a premium for thier extra sets. As someone who just recently discovered modulars, I am grateful for the chance to get it from Lego. There is just no way I could pay double the original retail value or more for one of these. Now the goal is to get Pet Shop around Black Friday. If Grand Emporium is still around, then i will try and get that before going after others. Quote
Darth Dino Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Hi i dont think it makes sense to keep an extra FB for future profit. The FB lasts too long on the shelves. The GG is not only popular because its great design, its also have been for a long long time the (only) big source for sandgreen (i dont count the Yoda). Now that is why the Haunted House will be a famous collector item. Not many have it (MF is a kids theme but the HH is an AFOL set) plus the loooots of sandgreen. I have my FB to open it ;) Dino Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 I think you will make a profit on the FB because people will always want the older modular that they missed out on. However, they probably won't pay as much for it like the CC and GG simply because there isn't anything that rare in the FB, plus the first two weren't available as long as FB. As far as that many extra pieces, you are incredibly lucky. I haven't heard of that. I 'lucked'out and received one of the sets that was missing a lot of pieces instead. Quote

You are very lucky. Quote
Blakstone Posted October 18, 2013 Posted October 18, 2013 My Holiday Catalog arrived today and the Grand Emporium is still listed. I guess it is not being discontinued as fast as the Fire Brigade. FB is not listed. My FB will arrive tomorrow. Quote
