CorneliusMurdock Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Does anyone know if TLG has a license for The Amazing Spider-Man? We know that they don't. That went to Megabloks. It doesn't stop Lego from making sets based on the cartoon or comics, but they won't have any movie tie-ins. Quote

Vindice Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Meanwhile, I'm not so confident with DC. Their movies haven't done as well (TDK being the exception) and as mentioned their characters seem to be from a bygone era of comics. I think it'c going to be a tough climb for DC to get even close to Marvel's level at the movies. I bet the next few DC Lego sets will be for a TDKR and some comic related themes. I agree totally with this. I think DC is a tougher sell. Batman will always be popular because it appeals to all age groups and has had superb films. The other DC stuff is not totally relevant to todays audience. How many kids are going to buy Green Lantern if he's gay? I'm not being homophobic, just stating the obvious. Marvel has 3 excellent brands to draw on, Avengers, Spiderman and X-Men. Quote
just2good Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Man of steel (new superman movie) lego confirmed http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118055153.html?cmpid=RSS#.T9C_coHedlk.twitter Woohoo! Hopefully we'll see a preview of the sets at SDCC! Also, in the article they talk about a licensing expo next week. I don't know much about it, but do you think they'll have a preview of sets there? Also, I'm sure plenty of kids bought Gandalf and Magneto in LEGO form. Both of which have been famously portrayed by gay actor, Ian McKellen. Edited June 8, 2012 by TheAviator Quote
King of Nynrah Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Good to see that Super Heroes will be continuing into next year. Seeing as LEGO have shown interest in producing sets for future films, we could be seeing Iron Man 3 sets next year too! Quote

He's not talking about the actor who played Dumbledore, but saying the actual character. I think.... Quote
Stormer13 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) I think we may see Characters such as the flash and merman appear in the superman and wonder woman films Not massive roles maybe just an appearance like how we seen hawkeye and black widow in Thor and Iron man 2. I would also like to say that people thinking we wont get a green lantern figure on closer inspection on the exclusive we see that is the movie version of Hal jordan/green lantern where as we might get a Comic/classic green lantern in the sets. CorneliusMurdock Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Back on topic, people. This thread is not about the sexual orientation of characters or the actors portraying them. It has no relevance on the profitability of producing a character in Lego form. Quote

And would a movie studio ever even have made Harry Potter or Indiana Jones or Batman films if any of the leading characters were gay? Like it or not it still has a massive influence on marketability. TheAviator Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 After seeing some of the spoiler pictures for Iron Man 3, I can't wait to get a certain villainous character in LEGO form. Quote

Regardless of what he does or doesn't believe, this topic is for discussion about possible new licensed sets, not about an actor's or character's sexual orientation, lets try to keep it LEGO related since we are on a LEGO forum. Sam892 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 After seeing some of the spoiler pictures for Iron Man 3, I can't wait to get a certain villainous character in LEGO form. Agreed one Gillian in perticular should be easy to do just a new paint job. Also I'm looking forward to some of the heroic characters like Happy Hogan and Warmachine. Hopefully if we do get Thor 2 and Iron-man 3 sets they backtrack a bit like Lego did with POTC. That way we can get one or sets from the previous films. Hopefully getting the Superman licence doesn't mean that the marvel sets next year are all non film sets. Quote

I would love a Pepper, Happy, or even a brick-built Iron Monger (or maybe a Hulk-sized mold). My mind is spinning with ideas for sets based on previous films. EDIT: I just found out that what we thought was a new villain is actually just War Machine. Bummer. Edited June 8, 2012 by TheAviator Quote

It's a shame his legs aren't posable but it's a sacrifice that has to be made to get such a great looking figure. I just hope that we see more figures his size like Juggernaut, The Blob,Bane and Solomon Grundy. They can even reuse the mould to make a Red hulk. I've said before but I really hope they increase the number sets per year for this theme. Increase from 6 each to 8 each and more frequently. It looks like there wont be another wave this year unless those rumours about 5 more DC sets are true. They need to come out every 3 months that way there's two waves for each company. Guess we will have to wait and see.... Edit: I just saw that as well. Oh well he can always be used as iron patriot in my MOCs. Hopefully we will still get a normal looking Warmachine. TheAviator Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 As much as it bothers my inner nerd, I actually kind of like normal-sized Bane. It makes it easy for me to have Superman holding him upside down in the Batcave. Quote
Oky Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 So, I guess we can expect minifigs of Zod, Lois Lane, and possibly the Kents next year. And yes, I too am hoping for sets based on Iron Man 3 and the previous two films. Don't care so much for Thor, especially now that we already have multiples of him and his brother, but I wont say no if the sets are good. Quote
TheAviator Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 If we do get Thor sets, they'll probably have Enchantress and Executioner in them. Maybe LEGO will give us a new Thor costume or a Thor helmet. Quote
hellopike Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 I'd love to see a Thor set with Beta Ray Bill in it. :) Or a continue the trend of Spider-Man sets with the addition of a B-list (or even A-list, I'm not picky) hero in minifig form. Quote

No. No. And no. it's hard enough as is getting the sets I want in a year, I couldn't handle two more waves of DC/Marvel in-between the other releases. Quote
Faefrost Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 (edited) Does anyone know how the license works regarding the pre Avengers Marvel movies? Is it all part and parcel? I know Lego has the Avengers movie license and the comic related license as they are all directly controlled by and released by Disney under the Disney brand. Whereas Iron Man through Captain America were all still under Marvels in house movie studio. Are there any legacy issues there that would separate that license from the one Lego has?
