Masked Builder Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 He actually has Purple in the comics and movies. Oh. I've only seen the movie and it looked black to me. Quote
def Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Yeah, i don't like Wolverine not having his mask either. Maybe LEGO thought we'd be happy with the suit being yellow/blue(although, that's not the way I remember it looking). Im not fond of the claws either...CMF boxer type claws would've been AWESOME! Wolverine has a lot of costume variations, but this one seems to be his Astonishing X-Men one. It's the first wave, and Wolverine is the Batman of Marvel, so it's safe to assume there will be others. I'd personally like to see the 1980's costume, but it's been retired too long, I fear. And Brickdoctor, here's some classic Magneto! Lovely purple! I'm pretty happy with the Magneto figure. Deadpool is well done too, but I'm not so attached to that character. Quote
djmangunz Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Some better images of the Marvel sets on FBTB's front page. I declined to look at them but the rest of you heathens can enjoy. http://www.fbtb.net/2012/02/13/more-marvel-set-images/ On a completely different vein, I am a little surprised that Eurobricks doesn't have a greater presence at the European toy fairs with the size of the following on this website. ScaryScarecrow Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I just wanna say this: We need Anti-Monitor and Solomon grundy. It would be pretty awesome. Quote

Oky Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I don't really get all the complaints about these sets at all. I think they all look great, except maybe the X-Men set, but what it lacks in set design it most certainly makes up for in minifigs! Deadpool is freaking perfect! Even Iron Man's helmet is growing on me, even though I still wish they would have gone with a printed minifig head like on the exclusive fig, but oh well. I can't wait to get all of these! It is indeed disappointing, though, that we didn't even get a peek at Spidey and Doc Ock. Looking at the Hobbit boardgame, I can't help but wonder if there will be a Super Heroes boardgame down the line. Quote
deskp Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 But for me the real issue is the figure itself. It needs more gold to hit spot on with the iconic Iron Man image-- I'd be much more impressed if they gave him gold arms and maybe a little print on the legs to break up all that red. It just looks off to me. Both hes minifig suits will have a rather large chunk of gold printed on hes legs. Quote
phanstasm Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 (edited) Looking at the Hobbit boardgame, I can't help but wonder if there will be a Super Heroes boardgame down the line. That's a great idea !! I'd buy both a DC and Marvel one up for 3 reasons: 1. If we get mini-scale vehicles or buildings for the microfigures (like in the Hoth game), those could be fun quick builds - maybe even a mini-scale SHIELD helicarrier or Daily Planet! 2. Any printed parts, like extra SHIELD logos or Luthor Corp logos, would be great for MOCs 3. If they make Antman (Marvel) or the Atom (DC) in microfigure form, they'd work with regular minifigures! The microfigures are a good way to display both of the characters' shrinking power. Edited February 14, 2012 by phanstasm Quote

DJ Bricks Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 We need Nick Fury! :D I know!! I'm betting he's coming in the Quinjet, Marvel said there are more minifigures and I really think he'll come in that!!! Quote
Poison Ivy Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Both hes minifig suits will have a rather large chunk of gold printed on hes legs. @everyone complaining about the oversized Iron Man mask: This is preliminary, obviously. Like deskp said, there will probably be gold on the legs, not to mention that it still needs a red 'chin' and the gold just might be chrome in the final version. Which would make me a happy Super Heroes fan. Quote

Mr. Elijah Timms Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 We need Nick Fury! :D Yeah, but it won't be the Marvel Nick Fury-- it'll be Lego Mace Windu with an eye patch. Hrrmmph. Quote
Vindicare Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Yeah, but it won't be the Marvel Nick Fury-- it'll be Lego Mace Windu with an eye patch. Hrrmmph. Ack! I had not thought of that... I HOPE we get comic Fury. We did get comic Deadpool, so there's still hope. I'm still not a fan of Ironmans helmet, except for the opening front. I don't get why they made it so huge, it just doesn't look good. I can't see it changing either(unless, of course this helmet is still preliminary) when I get it in my hands. Quote

If people want "proof" of the gold being printe don the legs: The comic con version had it, the large brick buildt version had it and the CG "available april" teaser had it. I really hope Loki has leg printing, he looks rather primitive as he is now. I think black might have been a better color for him, or gold arms. After initialy finding Lokis helmet to be kinda bad I now think it will look really good in finished plastic. Quote
CF Mitch Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I think I was starting to like Iron Man's helmet but after that FBTB video of it opening. Which video was that? And where can I find it? Or was that the vid that was mentioned a long while ago? Also, Samuel L. Jackson-Fury is also a comic version. The Ultimate Fury is african american, his appearance is actually based on Samuel L. Jackson. So it's not surprising he portrays the character in the movies Regards, Mitch Quote
surrideo Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I'm hoping the reason the Iron man helmet is larger like the batman cowl is so that the opening mechanism is quite sturdy and not like say the droid arms and prone to breaking. If it is as sturdy as say a normal helmet and visor then I believe it to be a great design feature on a product as small as a minifigure. Quote
lightningtiger Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I guess another reason for Ironman's helmet being so large, is to save money....one minifig head for two bodies of the same character in/out of the suit and add a play feature to the Ironman costume. Quote

Yeah, putting a jake raines type hairpiece on Iron man when in costume, Alien conquest businessman from the tripod set, or Lex luthor suit for Lab/civilian scenes. I hope the exclusive fig does get a wider release too Quote
Lyichir Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I think I was starting to like Iron Man's helmet but after that FBTB video of it opening. I really don't think it's a good solution. Not too sure about that Magneto coloring either... Purple?! Come on LEGO! Personally, I blame the fact that it is designed to open up for its ridiculous size. If it were a helmet that just went on and off like most helmets, you'd still get the Tony Stark face and probably cut down on the size a bit as well. Which video was that? And where can I find it? Or was that the vid that was mentioned a long while ago? Also, Samuel L. Jackson-Fury is also a comic version. The Ultimate Fury is african american, his appearance is actually based on Samuel L. Jackson if they could use his likeness for the comics, and Jackson agreed on the condition that he'd get to play the movie version. Quote

I'm not really sure which version I'd rather have as a LEGO figure, though I guess it's safe to say that it will be the movie-version. I am also actually disliking the Iron Man helmet, as well. I liked it first, but now I like it less and less everyday. I know they want it to actually open up to reveal Tony's face, but I'd rather have to seperate heads (or, rather, two seperate minifigs than this. I'm usually not this, euh... picky/whiny about things, but for some reason I couldn't let this issue go Regards, Mitch Quote
Walter Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I think the thing that irks me out about the Iron Man helmet is the visor. Something about the visor's size and shape turns me off, even if it is rather accurate in shape. Quote
AndyC Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Wolverine without his mask is, for lack of a better term, Hollywood. It sucks. I'm sorry if anyone disagrees. Wolverine without his mask may as well just be naked... And he used to have a hairy back before he was in the movies, so I doubt the figures will have that. Nope, that's someone else's Wolverine. It may be sacreligious to comic fans, but Wolverine's mask never made much sense to me. For most comic book heroes, the mask was their to hide their secret identity which makes sense (well Clark Kent did it the other way round, but the principle is the same). The X-Men didn't go in for that whole secret identity thing though, so wearing a mask just seems like some wierd fetish thing. Logically it makes so much more sense without it. Not sure how you'd convey a hairy back in Lego either, especially given that he's wearing a skin tight latex suit. Quote

The costume makes about as much sense as the mask. Back when Wolverine was an agent working for the Canadian government, there was no reason for the blue and yellow get up, other than that he was a Marvel superhero As for the hairy back, it won't come up in LEGO, no It was the standard in Marvel comics, part of the manliness that is Wolverine, up until around the time Hugh Jackman took over. I know that my wishes are going to be a minority thing. X-Men was a minor comic until the late 70's/mid 80's, when it became #1, and that was when I got into it. A lot more younger people loved it from the Fox cartoon show in the 90's, and even more from the 00's movies, and I realize they are a lot more of the target audience. So when they do manage to get the comic stuff in there, I'm happy, but not expecting much. Quote
