I think that Superman could have a large set, Daily Planet could work. Flash could also work in a small set, if they can come up with a vehicle for his nemisis (Captain Cold, right?). Green Lantern is a little more difficult for me to come up with something, but I guess he could always guest star. Better than not having him at all.

Like Wonder Woman.

Possibly bad news, one of the Captain America figs has found its way onto ebay.

No wing printing sadly.

But the rest of the fig I think is great.

That fig is beautiful! IMO, I don't even care about the wings and I don't see what the big deal is. I can't wait for April!

I have a feeling that Iron Man's helmet wil be prone to printing errors.

I just thought of something, but what if the Green Lantern minifig was a pre-order bonus with LEGO Batman 2?

That fig was exclusive if you went to th SDCC like Cap and IM. It would be nice if that happened though!!

I am mainly a lurker but felt I had to post. I am both a Lego fan and a comic book subscriber.

My opinion is that Green Lantern should be the primary character Lego should focus on.

Lego is a brand that encourages creativity and expression. Green Lanterns power is that he can create anything with pure will power.

I think the best set for GL would be a set comprised entirely of trans green bricks similar to a creative set with instructions for 3-5 different constructs.

If you need a good vs bad scenario add Sinestro and trans yellow bricks.

This could be a fantastic set that can be advertised from both a super hero and educational perspective. You could have pieces to make a jet, giant hand, scissors, car anything your imagination can construct.

What does the world think?

The film bombed, so they may choose to wait for the air to clear before releasing sets based on a lesser known (to the wider world) hero, I iamgine that's why they stuck with the tried and tested batman sets, and only given us two other heroes in the superman set.

In other news, I guess the appearance of that Captain America fig being sold on ebay from Mexico tells us that the figs are at least being made their, and not in China etc.

Is that a good thing? Wouldn't you rather the figure come from a country that is used to producing low quality platics than a country who only produces Tequila??

I'm personally from the camp that doesnt't care where the figures are made.Even if the bulk of figure parts come from Mexico or wherever I put my mortgage on Iron Mans helmet coming in a separate bag from china. Didn't do Wonder Woman and Superman's hair any harm.

I really like the idea of The Green Lantern fig coming with a preorder for Lego Batman 2 or A N Other exclusive fig like the young Han Solo that came with Padawan Menace or Voodoo Jack with PoTC. However Lego HP 4-7 came with the lab set so perhaps one of the polybags already revealed may be included with the game?

As for Flash etc I wonder if the Superheroes line will ever take inspiration from current or recent cartoons and characters like Flash,Green Arrow get released in Brave & The Bold sets(for example). Yes I know The Brave and The Bold was/maybe still is a comic title that ran for years.

EDIT Just reading about the Lego Batman Visual Dictionary via Brickset. That too should be the source of an exclusive minifigure :sweet:

When I think of major comic book characters the Green Lantern is not one that immediately comes to mind. I doubt that TLG would pour all that resource into a film which as already stated bombed. I think he'll come in a small set or as an additional figure. I can see Flash turing up with Batman in some way seeing as he's already appeared in the 'New 52' Dark Knight comic.

Would like to see a Daily Planet or Fortress of Solitude set for Supes though.

That would be real nice. Something gritty based on the Arkham games would be great but doubtful.

Let's not make jokes like these.

While I would love to see a line of Green Lantern sets, I think that Lego will make the safer bet and continue to focus on Batman, unfortunately. There is supposed to be a Green Lantern cartoon that if popular with kids could give Lego a reason to shift some attention to Green Lantern, though.

There are so many DC/Marvel cartoons recent, current and in development that if this theme does last say 3 years or more that sets could become like Star Wars and be based on the comics, current/past movies and cartoons. The style for these could move in the direction that the Clone Wars sets have done. As controversial as they can sometimes be seen to be.

Sorry about the poor taste in my humour, i've been feeling controversial today.

i agree that TLG will focus on Batman. It's because of the amount of colourful personalities you have and the number of villians. From a comic book standpoint only Spiderman and the X-Men can really compete with that.

Huh? At DC, Superman has a pretty good set of villains, and the Flash has an amazing group. At Marvel, lots of series do. The Fantastic Four have amazing ones, and the Avengers are pretty solid too.

Ultimately, they will be based on TV shows and movies, and then comics later. Probably video game appearances will count for more than comics :sceptic: Hopefully that means a lot of DC heroes appear, since so many were featured in the Justice League show.

I would love to see Red Tornado, the Creeper, Green Arrow... There are a lot of great characters, but most don't have the high profile of Batman/X-Men/Spider-Man etc.

Really..? I can only think of Lex Luthor, Doomsday and Zod for Superman (not really that decent to be honest with exception of Doomsday). No idea what villains Flash has.

Geez  Well, I'm not a fan of Doomsday, he was one of the characters that got me out of comics back in the 90's. He's like, well, Bane for Superman. Anyway, Mr. Mxyzptlk is great, and Brainiac is interesting. Darkseid is awesome, and I think he will appear as he is DC's ultimate big bad at the moment. Not as many 'greats' after that, but still interesting... Oh yeah, and Bizarro, me love him!

As for the Flash, he's pretty famous in comics for his rogues gallery, which I think would be pretty comparable to Spider-Man's in size, but he just has never had a starring cartoon show to build up his reputation. Hopefully, since he's in the Justice League main team, he will appear. I kind of doubt he'll get solo sets though. His famous villains are the Mirror Master and Captain Cold, who predates Mr. Freeze (in his modern form).

Rogues_1.jpg

There is such a dense amount of comics out there to pull from, but they're just being exploited now. That Justice League cartoon show was pretty awesome, and the Marvel Ultimate Alliance games had tons of characters. The more LEGO makes, the better :sweet:

I think Mxyzptlk is great but I'm not sure if he is big enough even though they randomly brought him into Smallville. I liked the idea of Doomsday and the part to where Superman was killed. It was the resurrection(Like the Batman travelling through time arc) that got to me. I think he would make a great minifig but I suppose he would have to be built sort of like the Hulk. I think next years "fabled" big set with Superman is likely to be a Daily Planet facade(hopefully with telephone box )

I think Justice league sets are going to be the way the "lesser" lights are brought into it and may be an opportunity to introduce the lesser known villains that don't always make tv/movies/cartoons but feature heavily in the comic canon. Could almost make a green arrow fig from existing lego parts except that none of the eye masked faces have a beard.

I agree with you on Darkseid but to be fair they don't really have the same panache as say The Joker, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow etc. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking your choice here but just don't think they are strong enough to sell sets :sweet:

We did get Harley Quinn who hasn't had too much publicity in recent years.

True, well piggy backed onto the Joker(as per). Still not sure why the riddler was in there apart from it made the set very, very desirable. She was in the Dark Knight ableit in civilian guise and for about two minutes

This would be nice, especially if the telephone box was built into the wall of the Daily Planet (the front half outside on the sidewalk and the back half extending into the building - with both halves being divided). Then you would open the door to the telephone box, put Clark Kent inside, turn a wheel/lever and when you open the door again there is Superman.

As far as villains go, Supes has a pretty good rogues gallery to draw on.

1. Metallo

2. Parasite

3. Bizarro

4. Toyman (just give him some brick-built toys turned into weapons)

5. General Zod

6. Brainiac

7. Live Wire (lesser known, but a female villain)

8. Cyborg Superman

9. Lobo (with his space bike please)

10.Mongul

11.Doomsday (a Hulk sized fig)

12.Darkseid (another Hulk sized fig)

13.Parademons

There is also a new 3D GL cartoon series that just started That seems pretty cool. Most kids know who he is... Well here in Australia any way

Regardless of that no love for the trans green brick set with instructions for multipul constructs idea?

i'm not knocking the villains in Superman and Flash etc but when i think of supervillains I think of The Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Magneto, Venom, Doc Oc, Dr Doom, Sabretooth, Juggernaut, Apocalypse, Sandman, Carnage, Green Goblin, etc

The only Superman villain that springs to mind quickly is Lex Luthor and he is pretty bland in terms of visuals.

I think TLG will establish this range with eye catching and well known characters first and then if this is successful you can delve deeper into the other characters.
