True, well piggy backed onto the Joker(as per).

I don't think that's enough publicity. She has appeared in the two most recent Batman cartoons, but only in an episode of each. Yet, in 2008 she had her own set (without Joker, Riddler, Poison Ivy, or any other supervillain). So did Killer Croc in 2008. And from what I understand (not that I follow Marvel characters), Deadpool hasn't had too much publicity either. I really wouldn't know about him though.

Thank you very much! :sweet: Sounds like an exclusive Batman suit, I wounder what it is. :look: Maybe that Dark Knight Batman?

i'm not knocking the villains in Superman and Flash etc but when i think of supervillains I think of The Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Magneto, Venom, Doc Oc, Dr Doom, Sabretooth, Juggernaut, Apocalypse, Sandman, Carnage, Green Goblin, etc

The only Superman villain that springs to mind quickly is Lex Luthor and he is pretty bland in terms of visuals.

That's pretty much my list too, except I don't know who Juggernaut is.

I think TLG will establish this range with eye catching and well known characters first and then if this is successful you can delve deeper into the other characters.

If there is enough time. I don't have any idea how long this theme will last. But maybe if they branch out into the Justice League or comic-based Avengers we'll see more elusive villains as there will be plenty of big-name heroes together to sell those sets to more casual fans.

Both Deadpool (X-men Origens: Wolverine) and Juggernaut (X3: the Last Stand) were featured in recent movies. There has even been talk of a Deadpool movie off and on the last few years. I wouldn't be surprised if any of the villains from recent movies make it into future sets.

That fig is beautiful! IMO, I don't even care about the wings and I don't see what the big deal is. I can't wait for April!

Maybe because they're iconic and would have looked cool. However as I said before I still think TLG did a good job and made a great fig.

In other news, I guess the appearance of that Captain America fig being sold on ebay from Mexico tells us that the figs are at least being made their, and not in China etc.

True, I thought that was good as well. I pretty much gave up wanting LEGO sets made only in Denmark/Europe awhile ago.

EDIT Just reading about the Lego Batman Visual Dictionary via Brickset. That too should be the source of an exclusive minifigure :sweet:

Sounds tasty.

I thought of that too maybe.

The release date for the Marvel sets is April correct (US)?

I agree with you on Darkseid but to be fair they don't really have the same panache as say The Joker, Penguin, Poison Ivy, Scarecrow etc. Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking your choice here but just don't think they are strong enough to sell sets :sweet:

I don't think the Superman villains are better than the Batman ones. I just think they're worthy of figures :sweet:

It sounds like your thoughts of supervillains are mainly based on characters that have appeared in movies and cartoon shows.

As for the Flash, he's pretty famous in comics for his rogues gallery, which I think would be pretty comparable to Spider-Man's in size, but he just has never had a starring cartoon show to build up his reputation. Hopefully, since he's in the Justice League main team, he will appear. I kind of doubt he'll get solo sets though. His famous villains are the Mirror Master and Captain Cold, who predates Mr. Freeze (in his modern form).

I do like his Rogues gallery, and you know, Han Solos new hood in the Echo base set would definitely suit Captain Cold. :sweet:

Though I do love Flash, I do agree that it would be very hopeful to get some solo sets. Technically though, there is one villain that wouldn't take much work, Professor Zoom/Reverse Flash! Just a quick colour change, hehe.

To a certain degree yes, that's what i'm basing my list on. Personally, having been a massive comics fan since the 80's I'd love to see many more but I'm thinking of what the majority of people would perceive as being recognisable.

After I wrote my last post, I asked my wife to name 5 super villains. Her answers in this order were:-

Joker

Green Goblin

Penguin

Doc Oc

Lex Luthor

Her answers were based up on recent movies and smallville. Penguin obviously was vividly portrayed in batman returns and i think that is still pretty fresh in peoples minds.

How could she not remember 'Nuclear Man' from Superman 4..? That was an Oscar winning performance

Sure.

That's totally fine, and the way to market successfully. I've written more than once that the market for these is not 30-something comic nerds, like myself.

Personally, I will never be excited about the movie and TV versions of characters, since those aren't the ones I grew up loving, and that's totally fine too.

I agree with you. It's a fine line isn't it in that TLG have to try and balance between the purists who grey up with the original comics and those who are familiar with the movies and the over use of leather jump suits.! Still I bet you're happy then with the trad' yellow Wolverine.?

I think that TLG is actually trying to combine the two to some extent this time. In terms of characters they are portraying perhaps not, but at least they are going for a campy-ish style with the figures and sets (campier than the first Batman wave). I find it a cool and interesting idea to cater to what people will know from films but make it in a comic style.

So, who thinks that Wolverine and Magneto will have double-sided heads? I kind of doubt it for Wolverine since you could probably see his sideburns peek out from under his hair if that was the case, but It's definitely possible for Magneto. It would be nice to have a more angry face for him, as well as a non-snarling face for Wolverine, but it wouldn't be too bad if they don't have them, just a bit disappointing.

wolverine has a double ehad its been in images, I image magneto does aswell

Oh, that's good to hear! I didn't see them. Mind posting one? :sweet:

Found this on Brickipedia:

The sideburns may show through, but that doesn't seem like something LEGO would care about very much. When Joker is smirking, you can see his lower lip and some teeth on the otherside beneath the hair.

Great, thanks! That's just the kind of face I was hoping for! Let's hope we're right about Magneto as well! :sweet:

I don't see why not, everyone in DC who was capable of (somewhat) hiding it had one, except for Two-Face and Bruce Wayne. :sceptic:

Just got my Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape, and now I have a question for you all...

How wrong would it be to swap the arms & legs on my Red Robin? I have plenty of green from my Forestmen harvest during Bricktober, and could easily swap out Robin's red arms to give him the more iconic look. But then the figure is no longer as it was out of the box.

If I had a second Robin, say from the Batcave, then I'd have already done it... but both in terms of collecting and sheer principle, do I have to keep this guy as is?

What is sheer principle? It's up to you. LEGO is customizable. Customize it if you want. If you like collecting the figures and keeping them as they are for whatever reason, do that. Nobody can answer that question for you.

Is the Green Lantern featured in any upcoming sets? I know the minifig was released at Comic Con, (I think.) but why? As just excitement?

Propably cause Green lantern was the most recent Dc movie.

The Green Lantern and Batman were released as exclusive giveaway figs, TLG does it all the time. Others include, Iron Man, Captain America, White Boba Fett, Shadow ARF, Chrome Vader, Chrome C-3PO and so on.
