Oky Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 It was probably me hoping more so I could utilize it for a TRON creation. I see. Black Widow has the wrong belt buckle, but she looks great really like Scarlett! Hawkeye is missing his quiver but it is probably printed on his back, as the quiver strap is on the front! What's the big deal with that belt buckle anyway? Excuse my ignorance, but who cares what shape it is (besides you)? You do have a good point about HE's quiver. I wonder why they didn't include an actual one for him. Quote
The Penguin Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Like what I previously mentioned in my Superman set review, those damned cheek bones really make minifig characters unnaturally "old" (add to that they resemble the unpopular CW faces ). I really wish TLG could've just left these unwanted prints out, I mean it worked well with the Indys, the Hans, and the Leias before so why introduce this small but annoying face print detail? A very good point, actually! in most cases I don't mind seeing those on minifigs, but sometimes it simply makes the minifig look ugly. Like with the current Joker minifig. I do understand that they're supposed to show that he has a thin long face, but for me it just looks weird. Observe! and Compare! Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
Vindicare Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Ironman is looking better. Still seems a bit large though, but once I get him in my hands I'm sure I'll love him. That flip up feature is just awesome! Good looking out, LEGO. Quote

It has always been part of her costume and a symbol of the "black widow". There has been two black widows and both had the symbol. Quote
Oky Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Oh, okay, thanks. I didn't know that. Well, she has it in the movie, so I don't know why the minifig doesn't have it. Quote
thefyfe Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Belt buckle is a major flaw but does she have a comic accurate costume in the trailer?cant remember . :-/ hair is so wrong on hawkeye too even if going with movie only.should be sleepy kid from collectabl minifigs hair in that tan colour! Iron man kicks megablocks tho now! Quote
Vindice Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Why does talk about the upcoming game have to be relegated to the culture and multimedia section but not the DK book? Don't see why we can't discuss the game when it could reveal some interesting new set or character designs. Quote

I think without them he looks almost TOO young...more like an ordinary clown than an insane, homicidal, criminal clown! Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Why does talk about the upcoming game have to be relegated to the culture and multimedia section but not the DK book? Don't see why we can't discuss the game when it could reveal some interesting new set or character designs. The book is borderline because it comes with an actual Lego Minifig. Because it's not a physical LEGO set. All discussion of the game belongs in one thread and it's not this one. Don't sass me. Quote
Delta 38 Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 Hmm, interesting. I agree the cheek lines on Black Widow are a bit much, but Hawkeye looks like he could use some. The blue highlights on Black Widow are also a little odd. They're probably reflections of the black suit, but they don't really match the rest of the colours. Quote

For Black Widow, only one word: Brasso! Hawkeye won't be as easy, though. Quote

The only thing that keeps me from switching out the new Bruce Wayne face with the old one is that I don't have an old, cheek bone-less Batman face to go with it. Agreed, on both points. For Black Widow, only one word: Brasso! Agreed Quote

purpleparadox Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 But the old one looks more like Lego, which I think is more important. In my opinion, any character in minifig form is good enough for Lego. To each his own! Quote
Masked Builder Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 The designer of some of the sets has posted some fairly large images of them here. Quote
purpleparadox Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 I really can't say I like Loki's helmet. I just don't like it! I know it's accurate but there's just SOMETHING about it that I can't like. It seems a bit too...rubbery. There are some pieces that I can handle in rubber, but that's not one of them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they make it in ABS plastic and that it looks better in real life than it does in the pictures. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 In that high-res picture, the Quinjet actually looks pretty good to me. I just don't like the windshield, but I don't care about accuracy as I've never seen the real one before. I'm still not getting it though. But the old one looks more like Lego, which I think is more important. The old one was more charming, but the newer one is more detailed and represents just what licensed LEGO minifigures are becoming. I woulnd't really say that the old one looks more LEGO, I'd just say that it's a slightly older style and therefore the one we are more used to. But really, it's an opinion. Quote
Brickity Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 (edited) Question is, why isn't their black widow face design based on Scarlet? This line is based on the movie (unlike DC) so they missed the boat. Edited March 8, 2012 by Otherworld Quote
Vindice Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Because it's not a physical LEGO set. All discussion of the game belongs in one thread and it's not this one. Don't sass me. My apologies, no sass was intended! Quote
Wardancer Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Loki might work well as a gray elf, with the leg printing and torso. A different head and hair, maybe green arms... Quote
______ Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 The final design for the Quinjet is marvelous! I was on the fence about this set, but now I'm sure I'll pick it up! I like how the chairs themselves are brick-built, not just blue LEGO chair pieces, also the SNOT work is subtle, but works greatly! Quote
ETAV8R Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 ... I like how the chairs themselves are brick-built, not just blue LEGO chair pieces, also the SNOT work is subtle, but works greatly! Where is a pic of the chairs in the jet? Would like to see them. Thanks. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Like JurassicBrick said, TLG promised us a Nick Fury fig, so where the heck is he! After all, he is the one who creates the Avengers. I'm just terrified he'll be a comiccon exclusive or something evil like that Quote
Masked Builder Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 Question is, why isn't their black widow face design based on Scarlet? This line is based on the movie (unlike DC) so they missed the boat. *snip* What? You confused me there. Quote
Fives Posted March 9, 2012 Posted March 9, 2012 I noticed that the alternate angle pic of the Quinjet was posted, but I found this website with some more pics, and a close up of Loki. Thought it would be welcome here! http://www.blogomatic3000.com/2012/03/07/an-even-closer-look-at-the-lego-avengers/ I must say, I need that Iron Man and Hawkeye! Quote
