Didn't he steal Green Lantern's ring in The Batman?

Yes, he did, but his role there was very small, close to a cameo. :hmpf:

I hate the voice, I hate this version! :hmpf:

He also appears in Superman animated in one episode, but again it's quite brief.

Penguin: Why should I tell you?

Superman: A man's life is in danger! Isn't that enough?!

Penguin: You're breaking my heart.....

Robin: Kick over the desk!

As far as I know in comic stories the situation is the same. He remains mostly in-Gotham villain. ) :classic:

Which is actually good.

Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) :classic:

Note to self, always stay on Penguins good side.

I'm looking forward to the DC ones more since I recently went to Six Flags Great America in Illinois. Now I'm really looking forward to Superman. :excited:

The Penguin was, however, retconned as a member of the original Injustice League as seen in the twelve one-shot comics The Silver Age (2000), which both tributed and gently parodied the comics of said era. So he has faced the Justice League, and while body-swapped with Batman no less! :classic:

Do I remember something about the list of sets we've seen being Spring releases, with more following later in the Summer? Which would explain the absense of Green Lantern, among others. Or have I made that up?

The DC line is coming out in the Winter, while the Marvel line is coming out in the spring. It looks like we will be getting some sets based on the Dark Knight Rises in the Summer but this has been a bit vague.

Regarding Green Lantern, aside from the Comic-Con Exclusive Movie Version, I don't think they actually confirmed he would be in the line. I imagine he will be at a later date, in a comic version.

Ah, there we go then. I remember something about Dark Knight Rises sets as well... It would makes sense, of course, the sets would ride the wave of popularity then.

I certainly hope so, although I imagine the amount of trans-green pieces needed to give him lots of accessories might make it a little difficult.

!!!!! This is going to be so EPIC!!!!

I think that's putting it mildly!

6865 Captain America, depending on if they base this set off the movie vs. the comics it could include the original Quin jet or the Captain's motorcycle.

6866 X-Men: I would say the Blackbird is a good bet here.

The X-Men set sounds good If it is the jet I hope it's not a bad looking set.

With the Captin America set a Red Skull figure might be nice.

The fig we've seen certainly looked more movie-oriented than comics-based, so I'd say a Red Skull is a good bet. How many other Cap baddies would the average movie-going fan who might happen to want a Lego Captain America know, after all?

But will the Red Skull be a new mold or just a regular minifig head?

I just can't see it being a normal head for some reason..

It could be a normal head with a head piece like some of the new Jedi figures.

A normal head has worked with skellies for years, and I guess this wouldn't be too different but for being red with a slightly tweaked print (so, completely different then?). Done right, it could work. That said, if a special mold looked decent, that's cool too.

Concerning the Red Skull, I don't think a dedicated head mould would be a good option. I think it would look ,dare I say, Megablokish. Spiderman, Killer Croc etc didn't need one but they still look fine.

Speaking of thinks looking fine, I finally received my Green Lantern in the post and it looks spectacular. It's not the Chinese plastic and I'm also convinced that this and the Batman figure are exclusive editions. Here is what the card it came with reads.

'You hold in your hand one of a very limited number of preview-edition LEGO SUPER HEROES minifigures.'

While it does say 'preview-edition' fans of toylines other than LEGO will know that preview figures usually refer to a small wave of sets/figures (Usually 2-4) that come before the bigger waves and are released at retail, or a special version of a figure that will be part of the main line, usually given out at conventions.

If we take the new Transformers Figure Prime Optimus Prime, it was released at the comic con, though it is a special 'preview-edition' that comes in a fancy package and has different paint applications. Sound familiar? I'd get these minifigures now before it's too late if you want them! Though I'm still trying to get some money together for the Batman myself...

I think that seeing what has happened with promotional figures before, such as the white Boba Fett, we should all be cautious. Of course, the only way to ensure you have one at the current prices is buying it right now. I am very tempted to buy these right now, but this wouldn't be the first time that Lego releases something in a seemingly limited way and then releases it in a more accessible way. We just plain don't know.

On the other hand, with all the Marvel and DC figures to come, I can't give myself the luxury of paying $50 for any single one of them.

When I made my fearless predictions about the Marvel sets, I based my guesses on the mini-figures that we know we are going to get per the released Lego reports. While I would love a Red Skull, I don't believe that we will see him in this wave. All the information I have heard indicates that the Marvel sets, with the exception of the X-Men one, will be based on the Avengers movie. It sounds like the Avengers will all face the same villain( unnamed by me due to a potential spoiler) at different times. So my guess is that we will get this villain in several of the sets including, at my best guess, the Captain America set. But who knows? I have been wrong before. Just ask my wife.

Theres a few small spoilers in this post, so I'll put them in italics. If you don't want them spoiled, continue reading after the italics. *spoiler

The main villian in The Avengers is going to be Loki, and The avengers are a team, so they won't all fight them at different times. They'll go together. Of course I have no clue how Marvel is gonna take this movie, so I could be wrong. But that's probably our best bet.

end of spoiler* And I wonder if the wolverine set will be for the new wolverine movie coming out.

I understand that the Avengers are a team, but at the SDCC, the cast was discussing how they will each fight this villain individually before coming together as a team to combat him. Hence why I think that the Captain America, Iron Man, and (the supposed) Helicarrier set will include said unmentioned character. The Thor vs. Hulk set will obviously feature the two characters mashing it out, similar to how it was portrayed in the Avengers #1 way back in September of 63.

Oh, and the Wolverine sequel has yet to have a start date for filming or a director attached to it, so my guess is that the X-Men set will feature the comic version of the clawed man.

The official information we've already been given does specifically note the (initial) Marvel sets will be derived from the Avengers movie (which may include material from the various movies that have led into it) and the X-Men and Spider-Man comics.

Nah I still have to disagree, all we can draw is that it is preview edition not limited or special edition. What you get is a little special card and the fig attached to it distributed at CC.

Then in the line next year or summer the same figs will appear in sets. Are they going to make another green lantern when they already designed one?? As for Batman that one will probably appear in the sets based off the "Dark Knight Rises" as I think he looks perfect for it. Just like the SW SDCC promos you get "special" packaging but pay a price for that and for a preview/early release.

Back to the sets though, any chance we see a new Bat Tumbler and/or/with Batpod? Possibly as the vehicle in the batcave?

The first picture we saw of Selina Kyle had her on the Batpod and according to wikipedia, there is a second Tumbler in the movie (and there was a photo), so I'd say it's a possibility that they will be sets. I don't know about in the Batcave set though, I am not expecting a vehicle larger than the batcycle (if there is one at all).

Oh, there's going to be a vehicle larger than the batcycle and perhaps even in LEGO. Here's

in the Dark Knight Rises. I think there's a possibility that a LEGO set will be made of this, after all: it's a vehicle, and it could look pretty nice. Edited by Matn

I have both of the ComicCon figures with card, and although I'd definitely like for them to be as exclusive as you think, I'm gonna have to go with Macoco's reasoning that they are nothing but previews, and that they will be released next year in these exact versions.

Although on the other hand, I'm not entirely sure about Green Lantern. The Green Lantern movie happened and didn't make much of an impression, so a sequel might not be forthcoming. And I don't think any specific Green Lantern sets have been announced. Lastly, GL is hardly a well known superhero in Europe, unlike Batman and Superman and Wonder Woman (even I initially though they were talking about a Green Hornet movie when it was first announced). So Green Lantern might get left off the roster...
