Aanchir Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 This theme sounds very interesting! A lot of potential in DC/Marvel, I should think. Just imagine a LEGO Sandman! The minifigs look very nice, especially Poison Ivy! I can't wait for 2012. (though my wallet wishes it would never come ) You mean Golden Age Sandman, or Neil Gaiman's Sandman? Both would be most excellent, but Golden Age Sandman is an extremely obscure character these days, and Neil Gaiman's is probably way too mature for kids. Not mature just in subject matter, but also from a philosophical standpoint. The dude is complex, and not even as lighthearted as some of the less mainstream DC and Marvel characters we're due to be getting (like Deadpool). There's supposedly a Sandman TV series in the works based on the comic series (if I'm remembering correctly). But it would probably swing towards an adult demographic rather than a family demographic. In the very least, I would expect something more on par with Smallville or other live-action superhero ventures than something at the same level as the various DC cartoon series. Our best chance of seeing Dream of the Endless as an official minifigure is probably as a bonus character in a LEGO Super Heroes video game, not as a physical minifigure. Which is a shame, but perhaps the Super Heroes theme will inspire customizers to give characters unlikely to appear in sets the LEGO treatment (I've seen a couple good Dream minifigures, including at least one purist one, and am sure that customizers could really do wonders with that series). Now, if you're talking the Marvel Sandman, as in the Spider-Man villain, the above wall of text is null and void, and the content of my post should be treated as follows: Yeah, that'd be pretty cool. Geki Brick Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 (edited) What's good to know is that we know exactly what hero/villain mini figures we will be getting next year for Lego Heroes. No more, no less. Edited October 2, 2011 by Geki Brick Quote

How come those hadn't been spotted before? Quote
brickswindler Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 @Superficial Username, thanks for that. The lack of pictures from this line is so frustrating. How long do we have to wait? Good to see at least something new. The back printing looks nice for those figs, although Wonder Woman needs some improvement. Her legs look weired from the back. Quote
Titan Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 ^^ Hmm, looks like that's just a mock-up Wonder Woman. I would think TLG would use the flesh-color plastic, and have the red boots be the painted/printed part. Quote

I would think TLG would use the flesh-color plastic, and have the red boots be the painted/printed part. The trouble with doing them that way would be that (to my knowledge) TLG has no way of printing the top surface of a minifigure's toes. She'd thus have a flesh-colored "stripe" between the front of the toe and the front of the leg. For a minifigure wearing sandals, that sort of solution might work, but not for a minifigure wearing boots. Quote

I actually prefer Wonder Woman like this because if the legs were, Flesh, in the back it would look as though she is wearing a thong , unless they made her the first minifigure with printing on the back of her legs, which I doubt. And anyway, I already think it's generous that the flesh is printed right up to the side of her hip, I don't have too many collectable minifigures, but I don't think I've see that before. Plus, I'd think red would be a cheaper color to produce than flesh. Edited October 3, 2011 by Superficial Username Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I think Aanchir's right about printing on the tops of minifigure 'shoes.' I've occasionally dreamed of TLG doing boots and the like by actually molding the legs in two colors, the way they occasionally blend colors in other pieces, and then using printing over the area where the two colors meet to finesse the details, but I imagine this would be unfeasible for reasons of cost, even if they had the capability to do it. Oky Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 I actually prefer Wonder Woman like this because if the legs were, Flesh, in the back it would look as though she is wearing a thong What's wrong with that? But yeah, while this looks strange, I guess it would look even worse with Flesh legs. Oh, and I think it was already confirmed that Batman has back printing. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Perhaps Lego can not print on the backs of the legs and having stud holes might be the reason ! Anyway, the back printing on the torso look great.....dam, my son will want every dam one ! Quote

Aanchir Posted October 3, 2011 Posted October 3, 2011 Uhm. -Derek Nice catch! I had totally forgotten about Woody. Of course, the fact that his legs are a different mold might allow a bit more liberty there, since squeezing a print onto regular minifigure toes would be more difficult given how close the rounded "thigh" is to the top of the toes. But if Woody was possible, then I guess I'd be jumping to conclusions to say that TLG will never have a machine that can do just that for regular minifigure legs. Quote

Oky Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Oh, my bad. I was thinking of the SDCC one. I don't know where I initially saw it, but this is the best picture I can find right now: The user who uploaded the photo swears that he was told by a Lego rep that this batman and GL wont be released in sets. EDIT: Here's another, darker, but less blurry one: Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Is that a batcycle that might become a set? Quote
Oky Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Nah, it's just a MOC by the one who took the picture. Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 The user who uploaded the photo swears that he was told by a Lego rep that this batman and GL wont be released in sets. Let's hope not. The Brickset info was rather confusing, as it seemed to imply that these are being released. Only time will tell. Quote
Oky Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Yeah, let's, although I'm not too hopeful. I think all that Brickset announcement meant was that they're ruling out the possibility of the figs being available before the theme starts being released, which would be kind of a redundant thing to say, but oh well. Piranha Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 wow that is some nice printing, the best Batman fig IMO just got better I hope that guy was wrong because it does contradict with the preview edition and brickset info and the first time I heard that, maybe it was just an employee and not a true rep. Indeed, it would be two excellent minifigs wasted. Does the GL figure have a back printing too? Quote
