SpiderSpaceman Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 I think that the spiderman set will be based on this episode. Looks great I really hope the set is not based in a theme park, and I might just skip it if it is. I want some kinda science fictitious lab. already have enough carnival feel with the joker's funhouse. Quote
Iron-Man Posted May 20, 2012 Posted May 20, 2012 Completely agree! A nice lab would be so much better, plus it could be used to create Banner's actual lab on the helicarrier! Quote

tafkatb Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 Don't know if this is terribly important, but I just noticed there are now two separate themes on S@H - Marvel Super Heroes and DC Universe Super Heroes. Quote

SpiderSpaceman Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 So I don't know how I hadn't known this, but the Arkham Asylum character design process was all by Bionicle comic artist Carlos D'anda? Socks-rockin'! (Googled for the AA Scarecrow design. Want that in LEGO.) Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 The blue hips are excusable since those are actually more accurate, but it's the blue torso that bugs me. Spidey having blue shoulders just seems wrong. And it's too bad that they couldn't spring for some leg printing for him. If they would have given him red boots he would look much better, and they could use those legs for Superman as well. Oh well. Precisely how I feel. I guess that at least the black suit Spider-man, when they get to do it (because they SHOULD), will be well done. Quote
Iron-Man Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Blue pants with red boots would be useful for so many characters! Spiderman, Superman, and Cap would all greatly benefit from these! Why won't TLG make them Quote

Justice League HQ and Legion of Doom HQ with a TON of minifigs, those designs are perfect... It will depend on what you are thinking of as those two buildings? The problem is the two most well know "classic" versions of them. The justice league with the bluish white arched building with sculpture fountain thingy, and the LoD's black creepy dome on a pedestal in a swamp look may not be part of the license. They were actually created by Hanna Barbera for the Super Friends cartoon series. I don't believe that the Hanna Barbera stuff is typically included in the licenses, or it caries its own? TLG could create interior sets of the bases. Just so long as they don't look like the classic 70's HB cartoons. ( the Halls of Justice one is really the only one it would be an issue for, as it was a very recognizable room / reused animation cell in the show. The LoD was just a round table, so no real problem.) Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Blue pants with red boots would be useful for so many characters! Spiderman, Superman, and Cap would all greatly benefit from these! Why won't TLG make them I think the reason Wonder Woman was an exception was because she wears so little clothing already (compared to other female minifigures at least), and giving her the full treatment would keep her from being barefoot. I'd think the tights would of just been to cover up more of the flesh. It will depend on what you are thinking of as those two buildings? I think that both structures have been used in the comics at some point though (that was from a Wikipedia search of course) and this license covers all 70+ years of DC's comics, so I think it could work out. Hanna Barbera was once owned by James Hardie Industries in the 1970's when the Super Friend's were made, but now part of TimeWarner so anything from the Super Friends might be a possibility in the future....well maybe. Though this is straying a little off-topic. Quote

Cammo Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 (edited) Now I wonder... They give Flash a proper 'mask/helmet/disguise thingy' but they didn't do the same with Cpt. America. That way they could have given him the wings. Edited May 22, 2012 by Cammo Quote

I know they used the buildings as a retro homage in the "Kingdom Come" miniseries, but that does not make them part of the licensed materials per se. I forget exactly why, but this subject did come up at some point regarding licensing recently. The take away was that Super Friends had some sort of licensing wall between it and the regular WB / DC Comics stuff, because of the specific stuff created for the show. ( it was to avoid similar issues that Marvel quickly created She Hulk, SpiderWoman and Ms Marvel in 1979-80, in order to prevent then in production tv shows from gaining separate licenses to related costumed characters). That way they could have given him the wings. That's because it isn't exactly an official minifigure, the same thing goes for the black lines which were mentioned. This minifigure has (most likely) been designed by TT Games for LEGO Batman 2 (the real giveaway are the boots, it's pretty obvious that LEGO isn't doing those except in special circumstances, like with Wonder Woman). LEGO didn't design this figure like they did for Captain America. If we do get Flash in a set (and I hope we do), chances are he won't look like this. I know they used the buildings as a retro homage in the "Kingdom Come" miniseries, but that does not make them part of the licensed materials per se.
