Can someone explain to me the quinjet concept and what the quinjet in the avengers movie was inspired by? Also, are the avengers in the avengers movie (Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, and the Black Widow) considered to be the standard six members of the Avengers team?

not sure if anyone in the UK has seen this but for today and Tuesday there is 20% of all items in Disneystore both online and in stores. There are various Lego Marvel sets and Disney Car sets. The promo code is MAJESTY20

So the hulk set would be £40, the jet would be £56 (hope my maths is right)

I so wish i had some money at the moment

There is also the Disney Princess range

The typical Avengers team is different. Many people are members of the team but the first team was Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, and Wasp. They then expanded and recruited Cap, Hawkeye, the Scarlet Witch, Black Panter, and many more. So the answer to your original questions is that there is not a real standard 6 man team. It gets changed up in the comics, tv shows, and now the movies.

Then how come I came across an Avengers comic which I don't think was all that new and I don't think was trying to promote the movies that had the exact cast I described (that being said I think Hawkeye was in his movie-costume)? And, also, what about my quinjet question?

I don't know this comic you speak of, but the guy who responded to you is right. The Avengers is an ever-rotating cast and many many different heroes have been part of it.

As I said they mix and match, so it is entirely possible that you saw the same cast in a comic. I think in some episodes of that new tv show they appear together as well, and that has no affiliation with the movie besides being Marvel. :classic:

As for your Quinjet question that was aked before and answered one or two pages back so that is an easy find if you want longer and more detailed information

Long story short the Quinjet is the Avengers version of the Blackbird used by the X-Men. It is a popular jet and the movies version, I'm sure, was inspired by comic renditions of it.

So does that mean the quinjet in the movie was fairly accurate to one of the versions in the comics?

If it had Hawkeye in his movie costume, then it probably was a movie based comic book. I've never seen him in that costume in comics or video games or anything else. I haven't followed the Avengers in a while though, so maybe he has recently.

The costume hawkeye uses in the movie is based off his look in the ultimates or marvels ultimate universe line of comics of which sam l jackson version of nick fury comes from as well.

I just saw a NEW TV commercial for the LEGO Avengers. It was kinda wierd and long but it had the Nick Fury minifig in it as well as Bruce Banner each for a split second before Bruce turned into Hulk and Fury got into a ship I think. Banner had short messy black hair, I couldnt see his face but he had a bare chest and tan legs. Fury looked like the one in the poster.

I looked all over YouTube and couldn't find the commercial you speak of. Has anyone found it I'm curious to see it? Thanks

Yep. This comic you saw was most likely from the Ultimates series from the Ultimate Marvel universe. The Avengers movie seems most heavily based on this series. I would have to go back and check, but I can't say I've ever seen the quinjet designed as the movie has it. I believe they just use military transports in the Ultimates such as Blackhawks and Ospreys. The quinjet is a decades old creation for the Avengers in the normal Marvel universe of characters called 616. I'm not positive who created it or why it's named the 'quinjet'. I would have to research the wiki. I believe they just melded bits from all aspects of the comic lore to create the story. Thus, we have a SHIELD created quinjet.

Great. Now I'm going to be spending my downtime at work tomorrow reading up on this very topic.

The movie was mostly a very well done blending of the standard Marvel lore and Universe and their Ultimate line. Hawkeye, Nick Fury and the Chitauri were pure Ultimates. Cap, Iron Man, Thor, and much of the rest of SHIELD are formed more from the traditional. ( to be fair Hawkeyes original backstory just would not work well today. See; Robin in the Shumacher Batman movies). Black Widow and Hulk sort of fall between the two. Keeping the more simplified back stories from the Ultimates but cutting out all of the horrific baggage that those versions had ( ie. Hulk eating people).

As far as the Quinjet. It once again sort of splits the difference. In the comics the Quinjets were the Avengers unique planes built by Tony Stark. In Ultimates they used standard Shield military craft. In the movie the Quinjet became a special Shield military craft. It works. And the design while updated does have some nice call backs to the lines of he original.

So, am I supposed to understand that the version of the costume that hawkeye used in the movie was related to the character Ronin (as it says here) in some way? If so, could someone explain how, because I don't exactly understand what it says on Wikipedia.

As for the quinjet, I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding people here, is the design for it in the Avengers movie a design that they made up purely for the movie, and, also, have there been many different designs for this ship in the comics over the decades?

The Quinjet from the movie is completely different to the comic versions, there has been fluctuating designs I think for the Quinjet within the comics, but the most popular one is the round shaped one, here:

I personally hoped the movie version would look like this.

No. Ronin is just the regular marvel universe(universe 616) hawk eye with a new identity. Ronin has nothing to do with the ultimates or ultimate universe. The ultimate universe of which the movie hawk eye is based, is a line of comics marvel started to bring in new readers with a new starting point with streamlined back stories for their more popular characters. 616 and ultimate universe are completely separate.

Oh goodness. Don't even start trying to understand who Ronin is if you don't already read some of these comics that he is in. This may have all changed in recent months but Ronin is the codename hawkeye uses after he comes back from the dead. He takes over that codename from a female ninja chick named Echo who wore the suit before him. He can't be hawkeye at the moment because bullseye is posing as him with the avengers who are actually all evil and called the dark avengers. Bullseye enjoys saving defenseless women while dressed as hawkeye, killing their attackers with hawkeye-ish arrows, and then killing the woman he just saved for the fun of it.

Confused yet? You should read Ultimates volume 1 & 2. I enjoyed them a lot. I found volume 3 to be a bit on the awful side. Now, though, they've reset everything so Ultimates may have started over, I think. That may also be a good place to start. Find a good comic shop in your area and ask the people there for recommendations.

BUT shouldn't this kind of conversation be in another section of the forum or another forum all together? To bring it back on topic I built the Wolverine chopper, shield truck, and Cap sets. I enjoyed them all. I like the cap figure, but his set was pretty lacking. Everything in it I could have done without. I also think the blue on the minifig should have been much lighter. The dark blue just kind of dulls the look and makes him a bit bland.

I haven't yet seen it on the Internet, but I can assure it aired on the television.

O.k, this seems fairly complicated. BUT, I would just like to have one question answered about Hawkeye: was hawkeye's new costume in the ultimate comics related IN ANY WAY to Ronin?

I feel like Caps whole fig could have been lighter. His skin is oddly dark on the minifig and it just doesn't look right to me *huh*

All right. I've let you ask off-topic questions in this thread long enough. This thread does not exist for all of us to help you understand the Marvel universe. I think everyone has done a great job being patient with you and answering your questions.

If you want to have a discussion of the comics either find an appropriate thread in Culture and Multimedia or an actual Marvel fan site.
