Will there even be a second wave?

As expensive of a license would be to secure for DC and Marvel, I would guarantee another wave. I don't have any details, but TLG would be business-incompetent to only secure a one year license since this is a growing theme.

Will there even be a second wave?

In the original press release Lego said that both DC and Marvel were multiyear licence agreements. On top of this the superheroes line has sold extremely well. Nearly all the shops in my area apart from toysus sold out of the Marcel sets with in the space of about 2 weeks. By the time the film was out there was only ultra builds left. Even if the licence wasn't multiyear then I'm sure Lego would renew it just like they have done with Star wars. We still have one Spider-man set to come and at Comic con we will most likely see prototypes of sets and prototypes of minifigures. One of the reason we may not have already seen prototype images could be because they are spoilers for TV shows or the upcoming films. It took us a long time to get pictures of both waves after the theme was announced and the prototype figures were shown.

Was at my local Lego store today and the manager said there would be 5 more DC sets coming soon! Could not give me any more info. Fingers crossed.

What? Awesome! I might be going to the LEGO store soon, so I'll need to ask the employees about 2013 sets...

Probably 2 are Batman, one might be Green Lantern (TAS), and the last two are probably Superman (Man of Steel). But then again, this isn't a speculation topic...

If that proves to be true, that is very exciting. :oh:

I would agree with that assessment, I am also hoping for The Flash to make an appearance in the next wave.

I suspect until we see The Flash in a movie he's unlikely to get his own set. Next wave will probably be more X-Men, Superman or Spiderman, since each of those themes only have one set each at this stage.

Personally I'm hoping for more X-Men!

I think the reason the first wave of DC sets were mainly all Batman was due to 2 things. First of all the old Batman series was such a collectible theme that rocketed in price, Lego wanted to give people more chances to get some. Also I think Lego was waiting for the realise of the video game to create interest in other DC characters. Lots of younger kids probably don't know who the flash is or who green arrow is. What better way to generate interest in these characters than to release a video game that makes them look awesome.

Well, news came yesterday that there is a Justice League movie in the works, along with a Wonder Woman movie.

Justice League will definitely see its way into LEGO sets if that is the case

Kind of funny however that word of this comes up since the success of the Avengers. DC is making their move to capitalize on the superhero boom!

I can see Lego carrying the Marvel license for a few more years. Avengers should be locked into at least three movies, with the next one being released in '14. Meanwhile, Cap and Thor are each getting sequels and there's talk of SHIELD, Hawkeye, and Black Widow getting a movie together. Plus, an X-Men First Class sequel. All of these add up to a huge opportunity for Lego.

Meanwhile, I'm not so confident with DC. Their movies haven't done as well (TDK being the exception) and as mentioned their characters seem to be from a bygone era of comics. I think it'c going to be a tough climb for DC to get even close to Marvel's level at the movies. I bet the next few DC Lego sets will be for a TDKR and some comic related themes.

I looked all over YouTube and couldn't find the commercial you speak of. Has anyone found it I'm curious to see it? Thanks

That's a pretty awesome commercial and it played in front of the Avengers movie in one of the theaters I saw it at. It's great to see on the big screen. :)

He could also possibly appear in a set like Wonder Woman did in the Superman set.
