Obsidious Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Where are people getting the idea that there will be a new set? They are getting this idea from the fact that a new exclusive will be revealed at Brick Fiesta on July 6. We don't know if it is Super Heroes or not, but we are hoping it will be. The Dynamic Duo Funhouse Escape set came out of nowhere. Hopefully a TDKR set will too. Quote

vynsane Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I don't know how likely TDKR-based sets are, given that LEGO continually says its products are primarily for children and the Nolan Batfilms are anything but. I know they've done a Tumbler set in the past, but it was only very loosely based on the films. I don't remember anything about an Ice Cream truck in the movie (the only scene it could be trying to emulate would be the one where The Joker is using a Semi to kill Dent), and the Joker figure included looks nothing like Heather Ledger's version. Sam892 Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 But the funhouse came out with other batman/dc sets. Ye but it would make more sense to hold back a TDKR set until nearer the time the movie is released. Also DC most likely didn't want a possible Dark knight rises set out that early because it may have given away certain plot points that we didn't know about. Plus sets don't have to be released al at once. Star Wars had the R2-D2 set released in May long after the Star Wars waves. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Where are people getting the idea that there will be a new set? Are you under the impression TLG signed multi-year deals with not one but both of the two major comics publishers in order to release a single wave for each publisher's universe, and then dump the theme immediately after? I think it's extremely likely there'll be multiple new sets, for both Marvel and DC, before TLG is done with the "Superheroes" theme. Quote
GuntherThePenguin Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) Love to see more X-Men sets, but personally I think Jean Grey, Mystique and even Emma Frost should come before Kitty. *Slap forhead* I didn't even think of them!!! But, yes, a Mystique and Jean would be wonderful. And, please don't hate me for saying this, but am I the only one who isn't that interested in TDKR sets? I mean, for the most part I only get a set because of the figs in it, and we already have a Bane and Catwoman, so there would really be no need for any sets based of this movie, IMO. I would much rather get another Funhouse-type set, with a re-done Scarecrow, Mad Hatter and Clayface rather than any TDKR sets.... Edited June 21, 2012 by GuntherThePenguin Quote

I don't think he's talking about the theme overall, just why people think there will be a new set coming in the summer outside of a normal wave. We already know there will be multiple waves for Superheroes in general, but there's nothing to say that there actually will be some Superheroes set revealed at Brickfiesta for special release. Quote

The only things from this movie that might spark my interest would be a good set of that flying "Bat" or a new "under $300" version of the Tumbler. I can't see any good minifigs out of the movie. (well maybe a Jim Gordon. I could live with that). Quote

New movies, tv series, comics, etc. I hope superheroes says around even longer than SW has/will ! And are batman magnet sets minifigs stuck to the magnets like the star wars ones? GuntherThePenguin Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 My dad Emailed me last night to say that he just bought the Batman 2 Videogame (we play all the Lego video-games together when I go to visit him ) and he told me that along with the game he got a 'Mr. Freeze minifig'. I asked him for pictures, but he said I would see it soon enough (grrr)! Now, I'm not sure if he means a character in the game, or some secret fig??? I don't know, but I'll post more when I found out more... Quote

wesker Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Original X-Men, please. Start there and release a set with each roster from every era. What? I can be just as wishful as anyone else on this board. :) I'm not sure that mystique and frost should come before kitty. Kitty's been an X-Man much longer. If its because of current comics then only frost should be made. I think she's the only one currently in the comics, but I've got a lot of catching up to do. Being realistic here - most of the people who are buying these sets are more familiar with the characters thanks to the various cartoon series, movies and even video games rather than the comics themselves. The reason I suggested Mystique and Emma first was because they along with Storm, Jean and Rogue have had more mainstream exposure than Kitty (although admittedly in Emma's case not that much more) Lego would be better off focusing on characters most people are aware of first rather than follow the order of rosters from the comics. The first wave of Marvel has given us (or will be) Deadpool and Iron Fist. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that neither is particularly well known to the general public. Even with Iron Fist being in the new animated show. Quote

I totally agree with you that LEGO should stick to characters that everyone knows but I'm not sure Emma would be a perfect fit. The only way I could see ghee included in the line is if she was a villain like she was originally. Its not really about exposure but more of fan favourites that will make it into sets along with core characters. Admittedly Emma is a very core character to the series but there are lots of other characters which are more likely to make it through. I think we will see other the next few years the following: Nightcrawler, Storm, Jean, Cyclops, Gambit, Rouge, Beast and professor X for the X-men. With Toad, Mistque, Sabretooth, Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Juggernaunt for the brotherhood. After these are made we will most likely get Emma along with Kitty, Iceman, Angle and Colossus. Hopefully Lego does a big set like the Mansion to get a lot of these figures done. That's just my opinion though. Quote

Faefrost Posted June 22, 2012 Posted June 22, 2012 Kitty Pryde is actually an almost perfect X Men character for Lego to do in a set, and I will not be surprised when she shows up. For X Men Lego is limited to the comics, and maybe some of the cartoons. They can't use the movies. This means that Lego will probably use mainly "classic" Clairemont era characters in more classic costuming. So many of the mainline "new" X Men. Storm in classic outfit. Colosus, night crawler in classic red and white, etc. Kitty was one of the reader POV characters from that time period, and probably more well known and liked hen we think. Plus she is a cheap minifig to make. They can easily use existing head hair and use a fairly generic X Men uniform print for her. Whereas Storm as an example would need a new costum hairpiece. Plus the pretense of Kitty in a set screams "not from the movie don't sue us!!!" Quote

Obviously. Kids will know the cartoons the most. The comics are aimed at kids and adults that are fairly out of the actual range that LEGO markets to. Unfortunately, the flipping' cartoons can't seem to last very long. Wolverine and the X-Men wasn't outstanding, but it was good and fun to watch. The last cartoon before that was the X-Men Evolutions, I think, but that seems too old for kids to know about unless they caught it on Netflix. The movies are out of the question, but a loose basis could be made as anything in the movie must have shown up at some point in other media. Anyways, if we take that most recent toon, wolverine/X-Men, Kitty was a main character. I may have to catch it again, but she got a lot more screen time than either frost or jean. Also, pretty much every character from the beginning is still used in each form of media. Very few have permanently died or left for whatever reason. Now if you wanted to argue costumes then I get it. I'd love for those to be released as some sort of store or convention exclusive. Less so the convention, though. They would be ridiculously expensive. Quote

Faefrost Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Do you guys think there will ever be a Lego Marvel Superheroes game? I can already see some of it! I'm sure they are planning a Lego Avengers game. I just hope they aren't rushing it. Tt games just shipped Batman 2 this week and has the LotR game and Lego Undercover already in the pipe. Most game studios don't really do much more than 2 1/2 projects at a time well before quality starts to slip. Quote
iambob13 Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 Do you guys think there will ever be a Lego Marvel Superheroes game? I can already see some of it! Most definitely. I see it being Marvel Ultimate Alliance in LEGO form. Which wouldn't really be bad as both of those and the X-Men legends games were great. I'm with ^^^ that guy, though. Hopefully we don't see it until next summer for when Thor 2 and IM 3 hit theaters. Quote

riddler Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 I would specially like a MARVEL vs. DC Lego game, though it is really unlikely. Please, that would be like if Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse met each other... oh wait that did happen. Well if Disney and Warner bros can agree on Roger Rabbit than maybe a video game with thier comic book properties may come to pass. Like I always say; If there is money to be made than it shall be made! Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted June 23, 2012 Posted June 23, 2012 But deadpool came with woverwine, a well known character. They can release lesser known characters if the set has some more known ones. That's very true. For example, if you look at the new Spider-man set, you get Spider-man and Doc Ock (both very famous), and Iron Fist (didn't know who he was before the set was revealed. I thought he might be a villain before the set picture was released). Quote
