Mr. Elijah Timms Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 It seems kind of fruitless to have all of these pages complaining about collector exclusives when the wholepurpose of the promotion is to randomly give out a true Lego treasure. So many posts have said it's unfair to award these only at CC or that if someone wants them so bad then go fly out there and pick them up. The truth is even if you attend the Con it's no sure thing that you'll get EVEN ONE. The system is based on a badge scan of each attendee as the enter the Lego area, and it's designed so that each randomly selected badge can ONLY RECEIVE ONE MINIFIG (details courtesy FBTB). So if you do "win," it'd be one of them-- nobody's coming home with all four. And even then your chances are dependent on overall attendance for the day-- if 25,000 people pass through that gate, you're looking at a less than 1 in 6 chance of winning... TLG is smart to do this-- it boosts their presence at ComicCon and adds to the mythology of Lego both online and in the secondary market. And obviously look at all of the buzz being generated about these figs-- not here, mind you, but in mainstream media outlets like CNN, USAToday, MTV, etc. Personally I'm much more excited about the prospects that TODAY WE WILL FINALLY SEE THE NEW SUPERHERO MINIFIGS!!!!!!!! Those we can get! TLG's got a by winner in these two licenses... And I think 2013 will see SuperHeroes clearly distance itself from SW, LOTR, and all of the others as the number one licensed theme, if not the best-selling theme outright. Gonna be a great, albeit expensive, year!! Quote
Jedi master Brick Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I don't see anything wrong with the exlusive minifigures. The exlusive minifigures are not stoping those characters being put in future sets, TLG won't go "we can't put that minifigure in a set, we gave some of those away at comic con.". It is just jealously. Quote

It is not stopping them from them putting them in a set though. The minifigure either don't exist or they make 1000 hard to get minifigure so it is a case of jealousy Quote
Spider-Man Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Ok back on topic now.... Today we get to see the new minifigures and hopefully some sets for Superheroes 2013  Doors open at CC at 9:30 Pacific time, so I would imagine we could start seeing pictures pretty soon after that! Unless they are being presented to the public at some point, or if LEGO holds out until 3 pm or 4 pm like they did with Bag End Quote
Tobias_Jay Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Personally I'm hoping for a Flash,Green Lantern, Cyborg,Aquaman,Mandarin,Dr Doom and.... ooooohh a Ghost minifig! My life would almost be complete if I had a Ghost minifig! :wub_drool: Im a bit peeved about how awesome those exclusives look. It's SO expensive to travel anywhere in Australia especially San Diego or New York for that matter Then again it'll probably be more expensive to Bricklink them (exclusive Iron Man and Captain America are going for almost 1,000 dollars!!!) I'm also wondering wether or not we'll see any more build-a-bear figures. Edited July 13, 2012 by Wall E2624 Quote

Unless they are being presented to the public at some point, or if LEGO holds out until 3 pm or 4 pm like they did with Bag End This year I'm thinking there will be a lot more sets in each wave and a lot more X-men and Spider-man sets. Can't wait I'm shaking in anticipation. Quote
super curry max Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) I'm betting that joker is not part of a new arkham asylum and will be in a police type van set. Because I want a new AA but toy companies that produce lines that I collect always do the opposite of what I want. :( Unless said police van includes Gordon and Gotham police. Then that would be gravy. Edited July 13, 2012 by super curry max Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I hope that it won't be exactly the same as the first one (like the first DC wave ), I just want them to go all out with a ton of cells and a huge building with a bunch of characters and generic figures. Actually, if they follow the core gallery like they are supposed to (unless they have a good reason not to for DC) Arkham will probably be comparable to the last photo here. Quote

Spider-Man Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Yesterday it looked like we got some good ones from fans phones and stuff for not just Bag End but a lot of other convention stuff. Plus I think they have coverage on G4 today, so maybe they will pop up there. I am just being hopeful here Quote
Graysmith Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 The printing looks like a lady's plump behind (with 8 arms and horns). Quote
Faefrost Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 The printing looks like a lady's plump behind (with 8 arms and horns). They might have been better off just going with the spider symbol and skipping the printed on abs. Quote
GuntherThePenguin Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Ok, with all the recent bat stuff out (Series 8 Minifigs, Vampyre Castle set) I'm going to be very mad if we don't get a Man-Bat today. Although, unlike the S8 Bat, I'm hoping his wings will be attached to his back, not his arms.... Quote
TheAviator Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) Why did it have to be the Venom costume? Why not the Ben Reilly costume or the Iron Spider? I am seething with jealous rage. Also, although I would have preferred the printing without the abs, it's probably so they can just swap the head and have a proper Venom in a 2013 set. And is it just me, or does anyone else hope that this line revolves around playsets rather than vehicles? I'm not saying I would mind a Fantasticar, a Spider Buggy, or even an Invisible Jet, but I feel like most superhero fights are made interesting by the environments. Although, unlike the S8 Bat, I'm hoping his wings will be attached to his back, not his arms.... But that wouldn't be manbat, I noticed everybody asking for the wing on his back, but Manbat doesn't look like that, he doesn't have separate arms and wings, the wings come from his arms. And those new arm pieces are exactly like he is portrayed so I would find it odd if they wouldn't use them. Quote

How are you supposed to 'play' Man-Bat VS Batman when one's arms are stuck up in the air? And also, they did it in the videogame, and I rather liked how it looked there. I know, that's not how Man-Bat actually looks, I'm just saying that's how I would prefer him. Although, at the end of the day, beggers cannot be choosers. Quote
h-7 Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Actually they do come from his back. I noticed this while paying Lego Batman 2. Manbat has actually become one of my favorite characters in the game. The wings are on his back and it also forms a tail like piece. Quote
TheAviator Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) The arms are part of the wings. Just do a google search on Man Bat. It's always been that way. But it would look clunky in the LEGO game if the wings moved with his arms, so I can see why TT decided not to do it that way. Edited July 13, 2012 by TheAviator Quote

I understand that ManBat has he wings attached to his arms, I am simply saying that in my opinion I would rather have a fig that looks like the videogame counterpart instead of the wings attached to the arms. TheAviator Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 On another topic, who here is still holding out for a Killer Moth? Quote
Spider-Man Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I think it would be cool, but I would rather see a Clayface Quote
DJ Bricks Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 On another topic, who here is still holding out for a Killer Moth? Considering the S8 Fairy has wings like Moth. I say very likely in the near future. Quote
305Bats Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 As the article linked to that shows the Shazam and Venom pictures states, many companies make Comic-Con exclusives. LEGO is just joining in on the fun. Not everything is made to be available publicly and there's no reason it should be. You wanting it does not constitute a reason for a company to not make a promo and instead release an exclusive figure to the masses. It's a special thing for event attendees, and yes, it fetches a large aftermarket price. If you're a completest or you want it so so badly, you pay the price. Otherwise, you recognize that it's a promo and move on with your life, buying the cool products you want that LEGO actually intends for wide release. I'm sure wind turbine LEGO fans everywhere are still moaning about LEGO not selling the Vestas set publicly. Problem is,every other DC character Lego puts out will be relatively easy to get, with the aftermarket price on these exclusives, one's DC collection will never be complete, unless you are rich or crazy enough to pay what they're going for,Thank you Lego, now my 8 yr old Godson's superhero collection will most likely never be complete, they should make the packaging exclusive, not the figure! Quote
TheAviator Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 I think it would be cool, but I would rather see a Clayface Clayface and Killer Croc sewer set? With gators? Please make it happen, LEGO. Also, if they do make Killer Moth, he needs to come with a lightbulb. And I will always pose him in that silly run he does in the games. Quote
