Matn Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 That batcave sure looks great, but not something I would buy. It looks very playable and classic. The figures are the highlight, they're awesome! Quote
Aanchir Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 Definitely a fan of the new Batcave. It's good to see a new interpretation of it in any event, and the colorful design really speaks to me. Bane's drill is creatively-designed, and all the new figs are excellent (even if Batman's grin is a bit weird). I wonder what the other Batman sets will look like... I guess the color schemes will be similar to the Batcycle/Bat-Pod in this set. If the Batwing looks like its image on the big display screen, I'll be very impressed. It's not as stretched-out-looking as the old one, and I like that. Quote
KristofBD Posted October 16, 2011 Posted October 16, 2011 The figs are great, but the design of the batcave is just so-so, in my opinion. Too bulky. Quote
The Real Indiana Jones Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 So are the DC sets still slated for release in January, or not until May? Also, is there a final word on when a Green Lantern fig will be in a set? Quote
Oky Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 So are the DC sets still slated for release in January, or not until May? Also, is there a final word on when a Green Lantern fig will be in a set? Well, you live in the US, so it's January for you. And there hasn't been any word on if GL is even going to be released in sets at all. Quote

Ah, thanks for the info, so that explains why I saw a French advert saying "Lancement en Mai" or "Launching in May". And it makes me glad that I just bought a Green Lantern Comic-Con minifig for $60! Also, do we know if the final version of Superman will have printed red boots, or not? The LegoSuperHeroes.com preview site and the Comic-Con preview fig both show plain blue legs, but the leaked box art clearly shows Superman with printed red boots... I can imagine that printing onto the sides of the legs costs them a bit more than just printing the fronts of the legs... Any word on that? Edited October 17, 2011 by The Real Indiana Jones Quote
Ceroknight Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 The fact that the CC Superman was used in a set kinda implies that the CC Batman and the CC Green Lantern will be used in future sets I think. Quote
Oky Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 I just noticed that Bruce has a slightly modified version of Superman's face. That's pretty weird, but I hope that he at least also has a playboyish grin on the other side of his head. That would suit him and would make up for the fact that he looks like his best friend. Quote
deskp Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 The fact that the CC Superman was used in a set kinda implies that the CC Batman and the CC Green Lantern will be used in future sets I think. The CC superman design is a standard comic design, while the batman and green lantern designs was from the movies, I do hope for movie based DC theme, but I wouldn't think the CC release of superman should be any indication on the matter. Also someone should ask TLC if the summer wave of batman will be movie themed, so we could stop the speculation. Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Also someone should ask TLC if the summer wave of batman will be movie themed, so we could stop the speculation. From Variety, but if you still want to ask LEGO, go ahead: WB and Lego had already been producing toys and videogames around the Batman franchise, and will launch a new set of playthings around next summer's "The Dark Knight Rises" through the Lego Batman collection. The "Lego Batman: The Videogame," published by WB Bros. Interactive Entertainment, has sold more than 12 million units since 2008."This partnership gives builders a chance to recreate the characters, vehicles and worlds of some of the most iconic super heroes, so they can relive the action and even customize it, a proven and winning formula in Lego construction," said Jill Wilfert, VP, licensing and entertainment for the Lego Group. The fact that the CC Superman was used in a set kinda implies that the CC Batman and the CC Green Lantern will be used in future sets I think. All three, including Superman, say "Preview Edition" on their card, so I think Superman kind of confirms what that means Quote
Dino_Bot Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Good grief. How come I was totally unaware of this?! Bionicle+Batman since July? HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!!! Quote

I doubt side-printing on legs costs TLG much more than printing any other surface. However, they did start printing the sides of legs only recently, and as such, I'd wager that they have fewer machines capable of doing so than capable of printing the front surfaces of legs only. Good grief. How come I was totally unaware of this?! Bionicle+Batman since July? HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS?!!! When was BIONICLE mentioned? Or are you talking about the "Ultrabuild" action figure sets that use Hero Factory parts? Quote
1980-Something-Space-Guy Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 You know, for a moment I had the opportunity of getting GL at $25, even with free shipping, and ultimately I decided against it. Unless you are a completitionist, there is nothing to worry about. We are looking at a multi-year deal that we already know is going to bring a GL action figure. I find it hard to imagine that we'll never get a GL minifig. Of course, it might be based on the comics and not on the movie. However, as I said, this should only worry you if you are a completitionist. Quote
Ogre Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Just wondering how many folks AREN'T going to get the new Batman sets (for whatever reason), that will end up kicking themselves down the road like so many already do for not picking up the previous Batman line... Quote
Algernon Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Man, it really seems like LEGO is being careful with the Superheroes line. Just about every other theme has had hi-res official pics posted but this one. I really want a better look at the Batwing! Quote

Geki Brick Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) WB and Lego had already been producing toys and videogames around the Batman franchise, and will launch a new set of playthings around next summer's "The Dark Knight Rises" through the Lego Batman collection. This could just be talking about the sets that we've seen so far. The article doesn't specifically say that there will be additional sets released in May. But the fact that Green Lantern and a Harley sets haven't been leaked yet may debunk this or it could just be like what somebody has said: TRU/Target/Walmart exclusives. Edited October 17, 2011 by Geki Brick Quote
J_Bro83 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) We also need to remember that there is the chance for there to be some store exclusives too...Harley and Green Latern could be in a TrU, Target, or Walmart exclusive. With as big as Super Heroes has the potential to be, I could see the major chains wanting exclusives even though there weren't any for HP or PotC. Edit: looks like Geki Brick beat me to my thought Edited October 17, 2011 by J_Bro83 Quote
Housey98 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 (edited) Well yesterday I decided to email lego about any sets containing The Riddler. Him being my favourite Batman villain of course They finally got back to me literally minutes ago! The email said: "We think it is great that you are excited for the new LEGO® Superheros theme for 2012! I'm afraid the set you ask about isn't available to buy at the moment! It might be around soon, but I can't tell you about any new LEGO® toys until they're actually in the shops. We actually don't find out specifics of sets until right before the sets do come out, just like you! Keep your eyes out though in the next couple months, hopefully there are more details released!" What do you all think about this? It does state they dont know much more than we do And it says its not available to buy at the moment when i didnt even ask if it was But wait; does that hint towards him actually being released in a set?!?... Yeah, I think the Riddler was confirmed as being in a set a while back. The response is interesting though... ..."isn't available to buy at the moment"... that's possibly a broad way of answering (i.e. it's not 2012 yet, so the sets wouldn't be out), or maybe it hints at future waves. It just mean you received a generic answer to your question from a sales guy that have no clue about what you were asking..... and I promise you there is no hidden word in this answer because.... I already got the same. Exact words.... Quote
Housey98 Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 Meh! Anyways, I think we should call upon Grogall to get us some hi-def pics of the rest of the Batman wave, no? Quote

lightningtiger Posted October 17, 2011 Posted October 17, 2011 You mean, shine the Grogall-signal? No, call him on the Grogall-phone ! He can use his Grogall-computer to upload them for us. The Grogall-man ! Now, back on topic....perhaps why we haven't scene those set designs is Time-Warner wants to keep them under-wraps for a while longer and dribble them out like the Bat-cave on the weekend....what else do you show at a comic show but the Bat-cave right ?
