The Real Indiana Jones Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) Wonder Woman also has a more modern outfit in the comic books and for TV, with tight blue or black pants in leather or latex. I am sure we will get another fig of her in a newer outfit, especially considering the unprinted legs will be much cheaper to create. Also, are they still planning on doing a new movie version of her? Is it still rumored to be Megan Fox? Edited October 27, 2011 by The Real Indiana Jones Quote
Mr Man Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Now what boy doesn't want a female in tight fitting costume eh ? (Tighter the better ) In Lego ? Quote
surrideo Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) I think the pilot can be watched online, but I think it got canned even before it attempted to air. Could it be as bad as Birds Of Prey was..... ? It was never Megan Fox alas, that was a good mockup. Adrianne Palicki or something like that Edited October 27, 2011 by surrideo Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Well with Potter canned and PotC uncertain it doesnt really have much competition to be fair. I think Batman will sell well but other than that i can't really see boys getting into WW, Supergirl or Batgirl............. Probably right about that, seeing as two of the three female minifigures we've seen so far, Wonder Woman and Poison Ivy, are prisoners waiting to be rescued by "a big strong man" . I'd think the only reason Catwoman isn't in that situation is because A)She is more popular than the both of them B)Kids who haven't seen the movies/cartoons/comicbooks or only like Batman for being a superhero and really don't get the stories probably take her even more seriously than the Joker. C) It would be harder to fit Catwoman into a larger set, and the sets that we do have aren't very heavy on the minifigures. D) I'm unsure of her role in The Dark Knight Rises, but it could easily be as an independent and strong woman E) DC insisted on it, which could be because of (D) I do think that we might have a chance at Batgirl though, she'd probably be the perfect damsel for Batman, but I wouldn't expect her until they're stuck for new minifigures and are already repeating popular villians (such as Joker and Two-Face). stayunspoiled Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 (edited) Does anyone here actually read the comics? DC just did the most expensive and biggest advertising campaign for their new 52. For those who don't know they have rebooted every single one of their books back to #1. I'm usually a marvel guy but dc have really done something special here. Here are some updates on the characters... Superman has gone back to his roots as a brash, idealistic, gun ho super hero as he was in the 30's Wonder Woman is a badass Amazon going up against the Greek gods. Zues is her dad. She has fought centaurs and cuts them into ribbons. Batman is batman. There is still nightwing (dick), robin (Damien), red robin (Tim), batgirl (babs)... Aquaman is awesome. Everyone should read that book! Just awesome. Flash same There are four GL's Hal, Kyle, John, and Guy Cyborg is part of the Justice Legue Oh and superman has lost the red underpants too! She's got a more classic look in the 52 relaunch. Does anyone here actually read the comics? DC just did the most expensive and biggest advertising campaign for their new 52. For those who don't know they have rebooted every single one of their books back to #1. The Batman comic by Snyder is a real gritty story. I'm glad to see the Dark Knight in a real dark comic. Wonder Woman is indeed badass. I've never been a fan of hers until now. Action Comics with Superman is very enjoyable. The other new 52 I read will never get lego sets, which is a shame because I'd love a Jonah Hex minifig. Quote
SirSven7 Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Hello All Have we seen this the 6860 The Batcave for 2012 I didn't see it at the start of the post and thought I would add it, sorry if this isn't new. Cheers Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Yes, we have but thanks again 'SirSven7' and 'Mr Man' what's wrong with a female figure in tights, ROTJ Leia in slave girl outfit ! Quote

Probably just because LEGO minifigures are naturally blocky and whenvever they try to make them look small they seem strange. Going by the prints, the original Catwoman minifigure's arms didn't even attach to her shoulder Quote
Geki Brick Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 I can imagine the havoc that will ensue if Batman Poly-bags are released. PotC and Harry Potter both had polybags and they are both licensed sets. Quote

lightningtiger Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Even better idea - Battle Packs of DC and Marvel.....oh, now that's just wishful thinking isn't it ? Quote
brickswindler Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Even better idea - Battle Packs of DC and Marvel.....oh, now that's just wishful thinking isn't it ? Battle packs will be nice. That worked well for Star Wars, but I don't see much army building potential in the DC or Marvel universe. What I would like to see are Superheroes exclusives similar to Diagon Alley. I'm hoping that we'll get an X-mansion in 2013 with around 6 X-men and 4 characters from the brotherhood of evil mutants . I know it's a distant dream, but we got Diagon Alley and the Death Star. Those were distant dreams too once upon a time. Quote
Esurient Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Even better idea - Battle Packs of DC and Marvel.....oh, now that's just wishful thinking isn't it ? so far Lego havn't really made any battle packs with licensed characters, except for hoth rebel trooper battle pack and POTC battle pack (with 1 jack sparrow). If such an idea really comes to reality, then I would probably expect a BATMAN/JOKER? 3 henchmen and 1 policeman. Quote
surrideo Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 I think there will be promotional polybags. May be the place to "give away" some of the lesser known lights in each universe. I cant see a Batman fig coming in a polybag tho. Hoping that the Sun or whoever are ready for another lego giveaway Feb/March and a superhero bag or two will be part of the promotion. The three ninjago bags already revealed would be great too if anyone is listening....... Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Even better idea - Battle Packs of DC and Marvel.....oh, now that's just wishful thinking isn't it ? I'd love a Batman family battle pack-Batman, Robin, newer versions of Alfred and Nightwing, and a completly new Batgirl Quote
CMP Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 This line is taking an entirely new direction to LEGO Batman, going for the 'early morning Saturday cartoon' Batman rather than the darker approach on the other, which I believe to be a partial cause of its cancellation. I'm not saying I love it...I'm saying it's different, that much is apparent. The bright colors, slightly more cartoony look to things. Giant drill on treads = classic. Quote

I think Batman will sell well but other than that i can't really see boys getting into WW, Supergirl or Batgirl............. to be honest I don't think most boys even like the idea of the incredibly effeminate Throbin'........ sorry Robin. Charming. Whether boys get into those characters or not is something of a moot point - most of the characters are still male anyway (and have Supergirl and Batgirl even been announced for the minifigure complements of the sets yet? I'm sure they'll happen eventually as long as the theme runs long enough, but I don't remember seeing anything indicating they were on the way anytime soon). most superhero films nowadays have gone for a slightly more realistic interpretation of their themes. Batman, and X-Men being the best examples. I don't think there is much place in the world anymore for the camper superheros but please feel free to shoot me down in flames. Perhaps not for the major studio summer tentpole releases, but TLG isn't drawing just upon the movies for this theme; they're using the comics as well (though truth be told, even comics run rather dark these days, compared to how they once were). At any rate, TLG's core market is young kids, remember, not teenagers and AFOLs. Quote

Didn't we get news on a TDKR line in May earlier in this topic? Besides, it's a kid's toy, and you know, they can't really make quite the amount of 'realism' we have in the movies and the newer comics, as much as we may want it. LEGO is a kid's toy, for the most part, and they really can't put adult themes and tons of violence in their products. Quote

Let's just hope they make such a good job of the first 2 waves that it gets an extended run. The Batman stuff should sell well. On another note, is it possible for a moderator to arrange the front page of this thread so that it bears more resemblance to the layout of the Star Wars 2012 topic? I think it would be nice to have a page we can refer back to that lists all the current sets (and prices where applicable) that we know of in each wave with a small picture. I get fed up of having to look back through pages upon pages just to get a decent hi res shot of one set. Quote
surrideo Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Are their high res shots of anything yet? Apart from the batcave, compared to the other lines this is definitely much more under wraps and kudos to lego employees and affiliates for managing it. Quote

Sorry to disappoint. Quote
Vindice Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 I know there may not be hi-res shots of much yet but we could still have the front page laid out nicely couldn't we? I'm not trying to be picky but the SW forum is laid out in such a nice way where as this thread is a bit messy. I read this page at work and I can't trawl through 20 odd pages of old chat just to find any info on pricing or new pics. In fact why doesn't the superhero theme have it's own section on the forum? C'mon lets have a big shake-up! Quote

Vindice Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Ah OK, I do understand that. It must take the mods quite a bit of their personal time to do this much anyway. I think it's something we all appreciate. Quote
