squidman85 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Hope he will be improved. Is there information abot the sets? And i hope the will be more figures. Quote
deskp Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 In short, I think this theme has a lot of potential. Even before I signed up, I read this forum nearly every day, but this news came up just around my birthday, the first days in a while I hadn't got to check the site. So I was extremely surprised and excited when I learned of this a few days later. I've only recently got into the whole Superhero thing (for some reason, I never liked them as a kid), and now this! It's also reassuring to hear that they may be sold as individual minifigures, so they shouldn't be too expensive (but it is licensed, so I may be wrong ). As for the possibility of a Video Game, if the theme is successful, I'd say it's a near certainty. Theres been no indication that the minifigures will be sold seperatly, and I seriously doubth that will happen. Quote
Derek Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Theres been no indication that the minifigures will be sold seperatly, and I seriously doubth that will happen. There's no indication they won't be...Lego has been throwing us a ton of surprises over the past few years, one being this line and another being Collectable Figures. I wouldn't be surprised by a concept that would combine both... If these are sold separately, I can easily see upwards of $5 USD per figure... -Derek Quote
Aanchir Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Theres been no indication that the minifigures will be sold seperatly, and I seriously doubth that will happen. I also have doubts that there will be separate figure collections. In fact, I think it would be impossible, if we consider a few facts about individually-packaged minifigures. While the recent collectible minifigures have been immensely successful from what we've heard, they aren't the first attempt at minifigure packs. There have also been magnet packs (which are frequently used to accumulate minifigures from a theme without buying the full sets), as well as the minifigure series from the year 2000. Both of these sales models had to be changed significantly because of conflict with Hasbro, which holds the license to produce Star Wars "articulated figures"-- in this case, action figures, but a term which they claim also applies to minifigures. Thus the minifigure collections were quickly discontinued, and magnet packs are now glued. In the case of DC comics, Mattel rather than Hasbro holds the rights to produce licensed action figures, but I imagine the effect will be the same. Especially considering that Hasbro does still hold the rights to produce Marvel action figures, and I can't picture TLG producing individual figure packs for only half of their new "Super Heroes" theme. Yes, but Mega sold its Marvel figures individually (and those really were action figures, whereas minifigures are kind of not), so I'm not so sure LEGO couldn't. I still highly doubt that they will, but I'm sure we'll find out before long. Quote
Zzz Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 HIghly doubt single packed figures for mentioned reasons. High hopes for lots of smaller sets though. Was surprised to see so many small Cars sets - that's the way to go, TLC! Quote

If megablocks was able to do it without getting sued that means that if the licence holding company sues lego, lego will be able to use megablocks as a defense. Quote
vagrant Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Am I the only one who actually likes the Hulk figure?! I really like the Hulk figure! Quote
Gooker1 Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I don't mind the bulkiness of Ironman's helmet b/c the mask flips up to show his face...that alone makes it an amazing minifig!! :) Quote
vexorian Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 (edited) I would actually put higher than 50% probability they will sell individual figs. The announcement mentions construction sets, minifigs and buildable figures as separate entities. There are also so many characters mentioned that it sounds hard that they would be able to design quality sets for all of them. Specially when it sounds that the DC set wave will be focused on Batman. They would be expensive though, and fly shelves quickly. We already know that TLG will be selling action figures for these licenses (The HF-style things). If TLG feel that they can sell actual action figures I don't really see what would stop them from selling minifigs (legally). Edited July 29, 2011 by vexorian Quote
Scarecrow7227 Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 I'm extremely excited for Cap and Batman! Missed out on the first Bat sets, so this is quite nice! Quote
deskp Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 So do we think Black widow will get a new mold or use Dastans(prince of persia) hair? Quote

Mostly because they're not likely to stop the current minifig line and I don't want to be searching for two different lines of minifig packs at the same time. Quote
Shtick Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Hey, guys. I was at Comic Con, and got to see the minifigs up close. The DC figures are pretty much complete. The Marvel ones are very early development. As for the Iron Man helmet, I was told that it is designed to swivel open, like the old knights or space helmets do. The helmet appeared to be handmade, so I'm sure there will be some further refinement as production moves along. Also, the arms are a different color because the body and leg detailing are stickers. None of the Marvel figures had printed details. Here's a close up shot of the Iron Man figure I took. Iron Man Prototype And no, I wasn't able to get either of the exclusive figures. The crowd was insane. What bothers me most is that a majority of those figures go straight to Ebay, leaving few for those of us that actually wanted them. Comic Con handouts used to be a lot better. I scored 2 mini TIE Fighter sets back in the day, as well as the Batman/Joker figures from 2 years ago pretty easily. Just one of my Comic Con complaints. Quote

I hadn't thought of it that way, that's a good point. Collectible minifigs would be a hassle if you're trying to get a full collection even if these figures did go that way, as there are multiple unrelated characters that are pretty much independent from each other. Of course, Hulk would also be a problem to cram into packaging. Quote
LandShark Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Theres been no indication that the minifigures will be sold seperatly, and I seriously doubth that will happen. Well, in the official announcement it said 'construction sets, minifigures and buildable figures', and apart from Batman (and maybe X-men) , there's not really many sets/vehicles they can make for the other heroes. Anyway, I'm sure a line of individual minifigures would be very popular, and they would never run out of ones to make. Quote
Darth Caedus Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 This is the most excited I have been for Lego since Lego Star Wars was released back in 1999. This is monumental and incredible, I cannot wait to get my hands on all the Marvel stuff - Iron Man, assuming his mask is slimmed from the prototype, is my most wanted figure. Robert Downey Jr. minifig! Quote
vexorian Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 Assuming they do make minifig releases (and I am not saying they would), I would guess the packaging will be like the ninjago ones. Letting the character be visible and show accessories off. All to justify the outrageous price. Quote

VenVoi Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I'm extremely excited for both of these lines despite the fact that I'm mainly a DC fan. This is just amazning news! I especially can't wait for the return on the Batman line. On a random note, I made this wallpaper in anticipation of the line. I figured I'd share it in case anyone else wants to use it. Vindicare Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 A bit of a random post... Anyone think(or know)if these themes will take the place of Atlantis and/or Pharaohs Quest? I haven't seen any news on either theme for late '11 or any '12 releases... Quote
Professor Flitwick Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 A bit of a random post... Anyone think(or know)if these themes will take the place of Atlantis and/or Pharaohs Quest? I haven't seen any news on either theme for late '11 or any '12 releases... I think it's extremely unlikely that these are the replacements. Firstly, this is a license/Intellectual Property, whereas Atlantis and Pharaoh's Quest are un-lisenced themes/Play themes. It would be akin to suggesting that Harry Potter was a replacement for Alpha Team. Secondly, replacements for those sort of themes always follow a similar motif, e.g. Space Police (involved Aliens) was replaced with Alien Conquest (involved Aliens). Quote
Angeli Posted July 31, 2011 Posted July 31, 2011 I must say, I like them all, but the Hulk is the ebst one for me - as a castle fan, just think of the posibilities... ;) and it is Lego, the other heads/parts fill fit, and this will be a great hit, I say :) Quote

But that won't be because of super heroes. We are entering August and it seems this is the month in which you start hearing about sets for the next year (or rather Christmas season). Quote
