There is no way to be sure on that.

Yes there is. The only Movie Sets will be based on the upcoming Avengers movie. If you remember the press release way back from Comic Con last year it stated the sets based on Xmen and Spiderman are all comic book inspired.

The X-Men Movie Series, including the Wolverine movie and Reynold's Deadpool, are through 20th Century Fox.

Since Lego's deal is with Marvel specifically, they can do the Marvel Movies (Iron Man, Hulk, Cap, Thor, and Avengers so far) - but any other Marvel character probably has to be a strict representation of the comic version since they don't have deals with those studios for the movie version. Ergo, Reynold's Deadpool is off limits, unless Lego made a separate merchandising deal with that studio.

Things can change over time.

Indeed. Since Marvel is now owned by a media company (Disney), they may bring the property back under their banner.

Disney certainly has the money and the pull to buy out Fox's contract for the X-Men.

Sure things can change, but they wont for a long while. So the deadpool figure will ramain being from the comic and not Ryan Reynolds. On a sidenote, the Deadpool that was in "Wolverin" isn't very well regarded in most of the comic comunity.

How come the "Captain americas avenging cycle" isn't popping up on websites along with the rest of the sets?

There's a chance that it's another exclusive (although it's not quite in the right price range for that).

And the Nolan Batman series is through Legendary Pictures.

So what's your point?

The better analogy would be to say that Nolan's Batman is through Warner Bros. Studios. And Time Warner is the owner of both the Warner Brothers movie studio and DC Comics, so it's easier to keep the merchandising all under one banner, so to speak, and a DC comics deal with Lego allows Lego to make something specific to a Warner Bros. movie, like the Tumbler, because the money flow is ultimately all to the same pockets.

My point is Marvel doesn't work that way, and Marvel licensed several properties out to other movie studios before it formed its own studio. Those properties, therefore, can't be exploited by Lego just by making a deal with Marvel, because the money flow won't work out.

That's pretty close to it. Marvel licensed movies, toys and TV separately. Spider-man is the most confusing one. Sony has the rights to the movies, as long as they keep making them (maybe there's a five-year window they need to fill, something like that). They gave up the TV rights, and the next Spider-man show should be made by Marvel, last I heard. I don't know how the Mega-Bloks deal works, but it's obviously still operating using the movie characters (whereas the TV shows are independent).

The craziest thing is that Fox has the rights to 'mutants' in movies, meaning Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch can't appear with "Marvel" properties outside the comics. Hopefully in the future, it all gets consolidated within the next few years :sadnew:

Such an innocent comment I made about Ryan Reynolds, who knew he wasn't so beloved by the comic community.....at least now we know how they'll make Captain America and The Human Torch look different should they make Fantastic Four sets, with the rights issues as they are.

I never read Marvel as much as DC as a kid, but Im wondering who the vilains will be in the respective Marvel sets. Hoping they are as diverse as they are in the first wave of DC sets.

I just checked the cheese slopes on the catcycle too, same cracks developing...Is this normal now for lego?!?!?

Connect Lego, they should replace those parts....but it is a worry. I haven't built any 2012 sets yet, hopefully later this week. Quality control a problem again at Lego is it, hopefully by next month these problems are corrected for the Oz release of the DC themed sets.

Just been on ebay, the relative scarcity of these sets and the history of Batman sets is making people do crazy things.

I've seen the Batcave for £99.99, Funhouse £59.99, Catwoman at £15 and rising, Batwing at £45 and rising, Superman at £23 an Two face at £55. These prices are all net of shipping and they range from £5-£8.

The Funhouse is the only set that the price hasnt been entertained yet, absolute craziness!

Here's my two week old batman, built once and hasn't been played with.

Those pieces always crack in that exact same spot. I've had that problem for a while, but they still grip so it's not THAT much of a big deal, still a big deal though. :sadnew:

So at least three, maybe four, or even five if what Brick Heroes posted about Red Skull turns out true (would make sense unless Loki is included as the villain in the Captain America set). So doesn't seem to be as many as DC, but there is a wider range of heroes (naturally, as most of the wave is based on The Avengers).

I need to find it, but a MovieWeb post said the two figs in the Cap set are Cap and Fury.

Actually, in the first wave the only x-men set is the Wolverine Chopper Showdown. That scene is from the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. Magneto isn't even in that movie. The main villain would be Striker. I forgot some things about him in the movie, but I do know he wanted him dead. It could be SaberTooth though, he was a villain in the movie.

I think the sets will contain the "alien" enemies that will be in the new film. The aliens would not be a part of the press release seeing as how they would spoil the movie for some. But I can assure you that Loki has found "friends" while falling through time and space, and they work together to wage war on earth which is why in the trailer people are always shooting up. Think of them as the henchman and the guard from this DC wave.

While there is indeed a Wolverine chopper scene in the movie, Wolverine has a chopper in many comics and cartoons. The X-Men sets, for now, are indeed supposed to be based off the comics, and numerous sites have listed Magneto and Deadpool as being included in this particular set. Should be interesting to see what Lego comes up with!

Additionally, the prototype Wolverine figure we saw earlier is in a comic-style X-Men outfit, something he did not wear in the Origins movie. It doesn't make no sense at all for it to be a Wolverine vs. Magneto set, since Wolverine is a favorite amongst the X-Men and Magneto is the main bad guy, but Deadpool is a little weird. I can only hope we'll see at least Cyclops, Jean, and Professor X in the future.

They are making a Deadpool movie, I heard. Samuel L. Jackson is trying to get up there too with Mace Windu and Nick Fury now. Waiting for Lego Die Hard!

Don't forget Christopher Lee (Dooku, Saruman) - bound to show up in LOTR

And we coulda had John Rhys Davies (Gimli, Sallah, {treebeard}) as well, if they'd done a freakin Sallah instead of just leaving him in the Indy game.
