Delta 38 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Hmm, interesting... I think the main problem with Iron Man is the lack of armour and not the helmet. I don't mind oversized helmets, though Iron Man's torso does seem to make the helmet appear even larger. It's nice to see that Hulk has a standard minifigure-shaped head, or possibly an actual minifig head. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 (edited) possibly an actual minifig head. Nope but seriously, just check out the first pages of the topic. or no nevermind i'm an idiot, I guess the shape has been revised past the ol' prototype - and it's the right size! (Oh I hope they don't disappoint) Edited January 13, 2012 by SpiderSpaceman Quote
B-Lister Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Shell head would look better with a printed deco for the helmet, or sculpted armor. Quote
Oky Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I don't know what you guys are talking about. Hulk looks exactly the same as the prototype to me, aside from the face and pants paint of course. He was probably just scaled down for the ad so that he can fit into a picture with the other heroes. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I'm not as impressed with the Marvel figures as I was expecting. Sure, those aren't the actual figures, but they give us a pretty good idea of what to expect. The Hulk should be okay for a molded piece. I think Wolverine is spot on! Although you'd think they would use the pieces from PoP for the Wolverine claws. But I like these better since they are new. Captain America is good enough I suppose. I haven't read the comics or seen the movie, so I don't know what to expect with him. I feel Iron Man is by far the worst, just because of his helmet. And I agree with what others have said, if his torso had some armor that filled him out a little more, the helmet wouldn't look out of place, but as it is, it is really out of place. I can't wait to see Loki the most, especially if they have his helmet. I will buy multiples of that if they do it justice. And I am excited to see other X-Men down the road! Quote
deskp Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Hulk looks good, except for his pants I hope that's just a mistake. If they didn't want to do purple they could of at least made them blue. I think thats how he is in the movie, I have seen other toys of him where hes pants are beige aswell. Quote
andhe Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I think thats how he is in the movie, I have seen other toys of him where hes pants are beige aswell. Wasn't there a joke about his pants/trousers in the 2nd hulk movie? The only trousers Betty could find for him were some stretchy purple ones, and some joke about not ripping. Beige makes more sense, as is more of a normal colour for pants/trousers. Quote

The staff suggested to him there that the Marvel stuff will launch April for the May release of Avengers and that there are stocking instructions in regards refreshing the line that has just launched. In short each wave could be extremely short lived from the point of view of production runs so that there is no overcrowding of shelves and competition between the sets. This isn't a new notion, I seem to remember Lightningtiger mentioning it a month or so ago for Oz, so maybe I'll never get the Batwing on sale Edited January 13, 2012 by surrideo Quote

That makes a lot of sense to me from a business perspective since they are releasing so many new sets this year, plus the competition between two superhero brands. But it stinks for the people that can't afford sets right away. That only leaves a few months to stock up on the current sets. I'm not in love with all of the Batman sets, but I do want some of them. We'll see how it goes prior to April release. Quote
Aanchir Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Still love Hulk's design. It looks plenty "minifigure-ish" while still maintaining a strong resemblance to the character. Captain America, Wolverine, and Iron Man all look nice as well, although that pose makes the size of Iron Man's head even more obtrusive-looking. I reckon the hockey armor piece could have fixed that by making his shoulders look a little less scrawny in comparison. But it's not that Iron Man's design is bad-- he's still going to be an immensely popular figure, and a reasonably faithful rendition of the character. Quote
Omicron Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Remember a minfig head must fit under it and if memory serves me correct from those ComicCon images....the face mask hinges upward. Still. There have been way better interpretations for the helmet in the customs community. If Lego could be taught something by us, that would be one of the things. -Omi Quote
SoupOrFishOil Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I think thats how he is in the movie, I have seen other toys of him where hes pants are beige aswell. I only saw the movie once, years ago, so forgive me for being forgetful. It is....but comics aren't normal Well, yeah Otherwise we wouldn't have a huge green man running around or women who can conrtol plants. Of course the purple are more iconic/memorable than beige though, so I guess that it's kind of like with Two-Face who had orange/purple instead of a more recognizable black/white. Alright, good thing my birthday is in February, and I hope that the Summer DC Wave is smaller, or at least has less things I'm interested in. I guess I'll need to get my extra Catwoman too, before it's too late. I need an extra cat cowl to modify... Quote

K-Nut Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Yeah the stromtrooper helmets look fine. Maybe if they were like that.... I say that the Hockey player armor would look great with that helmet. Or just as a Normal Head printed with the helmet. Quote

I think I'd prefer the Hockey Armor to a standard head, I appreciate LEGO's work on Iron Man's helmet, it's just too big. Maybe some custom part buisness will take advantage of our distress and start producing dark red hockey armor with an Iron Man design. Of course, I don't like to pay for custom parts, but I probably won't get Iron-man either, or any Marvel for that matter. I'd rather save up for the second DC wave (Maybe we'll get Penguin and Scarecrow? ) Edited January 13, 2012 by Superficial Username Quote
surrideo Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I'd rather save up for the second DC wave (Maybe we'll get Penguin and Scarecrow? ) Penguin has to turn up sometime! And in a similar style to the last incarnation. Scarecrow too, Ra's Al Ghul? Then maybe, just maybe they could start getting a wee bit obscure with the choices..... Quote

Then maybe, just maybe they could start getting a wee bit obscure with the choices..... Yeah, I hope that Penguin has a Catwoman-styled redesign (not too different from the last), but just giving him backprinting could improve an already great figure. I'd love to see them redo Scarecrow now that dark brown and dark tan have become more common... Ra's Al Ghul-As long as he doesn't look too much like a vampire. Obscure characters? Why when there are so many others that they could do which fans would recognize from the last video game; Killer Croc (had a fairly big role), Mad Hatter, Man-Bat, Mr. Freeze (still pretty sure we'll see him, but in red and lime ), Killer Moth, Clayface, Hush, Batgirl, Nightwing...okay, perhaps I'm getting carried away, but I love the Batman rogues gallery and family, I hope we get an Arkham Asylum, that might get us started with some of these villains (and heroes). Huntress, Batgirl, nightwing, alternate robins would be a great way to go. I know it would never happen but Reaper from Year Two? Yes please Be interesting if Freeze does get the old colour scheme, I like the new two face(in the minority I know). Looking forward to the Sunday build with the kids....Batcave time! Quote

Yeah, I probably went overboard just a little bit A custom Mad Hatter wouldn't be too hard I don't think, and I already have a custom Clayface and Mr. Freeze, an official Killer Croc, and am working on Batgirl, so I'm fairly well set. I'm sure Freeze will have his old colorscheme; it's more colorful, and this line is full of color and it's the classic design, some people will praise LEGO for choosing the original colorscheme, like with Two-Face. I'd love to see Huntress, but sadly, I think she has an equal chance, if not less, of being created than Mad Hatter. I think I could make a custom of her though too, using the DS game's as a model it can't be too difficult... And enjoy your Batcave! Edit: I like the new Two-Face too, but I prefer the old one. Omicron Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I'm sure Freeze will have his old colorscheme; it's more colorful, I certainly would hope not. His old scheme is horrible, and he wasn't even Freeze then. Not to mention his modern scheme is more recognized. -Omi Quote

Not to mention his modern scheme is more recognized. -Omi We already had the Zero/Freeze discussion, and he has worn that costume as Freeze. The picture here is from 2008, so he would of been known as Freeze for decades (On another not, Joker and Ivy seem to have costumes similar to the new LEGO ones there too). Two-Face's black/white colorscheme is also more recognizable, but that didn't stop them. Plus, doing the Zero suit will eliminate the need for a new mold-the dome helmet, they could just use Sandy's. I don't know why I'm arguing this though, why would I want the Zero suit? The colorscheme is horrid and chances are we won't get a dome helmet to go with it... Guess I just want to rub it in if I'm right... Quote
ScaryScarecrow Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I doubt we'll get Hush. He's a little dark for kids. Closest thing we might get is Black Mask, he's a little better known. I'm hoping for Red Robin II (Tim Drake), Nightwing, Scarecrow (I'm AFRAID they will make him Arkham Style to use the more common hood mold and POP claws), Penguin (Hopefully having his face print be like Alfred's so taking off his hat makes him look Arkham City-ish), Killer Croc, Ra's al Ghul, and Taila al Ghul. They probably won't do Red Hood because he was beaten up and killed by Joker when he was a kid, and going by LEGO logic, will be considered too scary for kids. Quote
