The_Customizer Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Ok, well, I guess it was a good idea to find the yellow door, now wasn't it? Lets go back to the yellow door and see what secrets it holds. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) The party walks back the long distance to the yellow door. Durkon, catches her breath as they travel back and forth. The party unlocks the yellow door and travels inside. The party sees a bookshelf and searches for 'Aguste of the Magical Beings' and after looking through multiple books, finally finds it. 'Aguste of the Magical Beings' - Quest Item The party opens the book to the book-marked page and finds a strange and poorly written set of instructions. The instructions are most likely referring to the shelves in the potion room, and the magical parchment is probably referring to the pages that were found with the yellow key. The party retrieves the parchment, and decides they only have a few goes at this. Magical Parchment X12 - Used for inventing new rune spells. Quest Item. Edited June 2, 2012 by Bricksandparts Quote

Bricksandparts Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) OOC: Can you tell us what it says? Sorry. It's supposed to be kind of hard to read but: Potion of su*Smear*Tested, needs improvement, unfinished 1 dose apricot with lemon ~ Shelf 2 2 dose foyer mushroom mix ~ Sh*Smear* 1 dose tarshgrom ~ Shelf 1 and 3 1 magic parchment Gather ingredients, stir in cauldron, dip Magic parchment in stew, sketch the magic runes into the surface. Dannylonglegs Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 I believe 2 and 19 are Tarshgrom, 9, 12, or 15 are apricot with lemon, and 1 or 23 is the foyer mushroom mix? Quote
Bricksandparts Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 QM Note: Probably should clear this up. Brewing rules: Once you make a potion, you cannot take substances you put in out. You can always add more, and each magical parchment only has one use. Example: Combine potion 5, 12, and 20, dip magical parchment in, nothing happens. Add potion 10, dip magical parchment in, nothing happens etc. Let me point out that one or more potions may make another needed potion. Quote

Also, in the above example where you combine potions 5 12 and 20 and 20 was the wrong ingredient, and you then added say... 13, and that made something, would 5 12 and 13 make the same thing? Quote
Bricksandparts Posted June 2, 2012 Author Posted June 2, 2012 Are similarly coloured potions the same? They may be. I suppose you could examine/ smell them to try to sort them out. But if an ingredient is the same, it will be the same color, but not necessarily the other way around. Also, in the above example where you combine potions 5 12 and 20 and 20 was the wrong ingredient, and you then added say... 13, and that made something, would 5 12 and 13 make the same thing? No, once you add in an ingridient, you can't simply take just that one out, if you throw away the batch or drink it or something, it depletes all of the ingredients there. Remember, each vial has a number of doses equal to each brick plate not including the top. Quote

Remember, each vial has a number of doses equal to each brick plate not including the top. I know that I can't remove them but, for instance: Potion 1= water, potion 12= vinegar, potion 20= oil. that does nothing. potion 13= baking soda. Adding baking soda makes a bubbling. The same reaction occurs with 1, 12, and 13 without 20. Quote

It has to be what it says on the recipe like when you are making a recipe in real life, you don't want to add extra stuff it doesn't need. Quote

The_Customizer Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 "Gotcha, I just wanted to make sure. And BTW, I always add extra things to my recipes." Agreed, chocolate chips makes everything better. Ok, so what type of potion do we have to make again? And I agree, Durkon would probably be best at smelling the potions to find out what they are, especially after all the potions he/she has already taken. Quote

The_Customizer Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Agreed, there are way too many different possibilities, and we only have so many scrolls. Perhaps Sam could help us? Quote

The_Customizer Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 Well, Durkon, do any of them smell like mushrooms? I mean, for one thing we don't have any clue as to what the potions do, or what we mix with what, however, here is a list of the ones that are the same/smell the same. Own Smell #1: Similar Smell: 2, 19 Own Smell #16: Similar Smell: 5, 6, 13,18, 24 Own Smell #20: Similar Smell: 2, 9, 19 Own Smell #23: Similar Smell: 5, 10, 13, 21, 24 #20 is very similar in smell to #1, and are the same color, so they may be the same potion, or the same base, but with some variations. Now, onto the potions that smell like other ones. #2 smells like 1, & 20, and is the same smell as #19. Therefore, #2 and #19 are most likely the same potion due to the fact they have the same smell, and are the same color. #3 appears to be similar to #2 and #19, as well as #9 and #11, therefore, based off of color, it appears that #3 might be a mix of #9 and #11. #4, is similar to #2 & #19, and is the same as #11, showing that #11 apparently smells like #2 and #19, and may have similar ingredients, though it is more like #4, hence the same color. I am sure someone else will want to explain the next chunk, as this is rather tiring, however, it seems that #2 and #19 are the same smell and color, and smell like #1. #3 is similar to #2 and #19, though is more likely composed of #11 and #9 based off of appearance, and smell. #4 is the same smell/color as #11, therefore it also smells like #3. Also, just a random note, #8 & #25 are a brown-ish color, therefore I believe they might possibly be the mushroom potions. Quote
RPGer Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 (edited) Do any smell like mushrooms? Do any smell like gender-changing potions? Lemons? Apricots? Tarshgrom? Edited June 2, 2012 by RPGer Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 "I'm now confident that 2 and 19 are both Tarshgrom. The book indicates that a dose is on shelves 1 and 3, and that's where these potions are. They are also apparently same smelling. 9 is the Apricot and lemon. It is the only one only on shelf 2 (plus, the colour.). That being said, the mushroom mix cannot be from shelf 2, as it is also only found on one shelf. That means it can only be 1, 3 (which is similar smelling to the Tarshgrom), 20, or 23. I suspect that as it is called "mix" it is 23, but I cannot be sure. Durkon, have you ever eaten or smelled mushrooms? Of course you have. From what I can tell you eat anything that looks vaguely edible. That's not a good strategy in the dark forest, let me tell you that. Anyway, smell 23 and the others I mentioned and see if it smells like foyer mushrooms. They likely have an earthy, sweaty smell if I recall correctly." Quote
