Darth Lurtz Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 New clip: http://starwars.com/watch/tcw_s5_battle_of_onderon.html Its funny how even though droids are firing right in front of them, none of them are killed. This show has gotten very stale and is very one sided, the republic always wins and any victory the CIS has is conveniently offscreen. Quote

Clone OPatra Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 That clip looked horribly stupid for two reasons: 1. As said, the ground CIS units did nothing at all. That wasn't a fierce battle; that was an easy mow-down of Seperatist machines. The gunships, on the other hand, were shown to be powerful, but… 2. The gunship RIGHT IN FRONT of Ahsoka and co. couldn't hit them! What!? I know main characters don't just die in gunfire, so don't put a freaking gunship right in front of them! It's actually shown to be five feet away and still missing! Also, when did Pandora from Avatar become a planet in the SW universe? Those creatures sure were reminiscent of Pandora. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 New trailer! Bad quality, but still a great trailer! And to answer above question, The Clone Wars will now air on Saturday mornings at 9:30am, premiere episodes on the 29th. 9:30 am on Saturdays? That doesn't sound good? Has CN lost confidence in the show? And is Commandos a show? Or a game? Because that trailer sort of screams game? Single armed character running an elaborate escort mission, just as a cutscenes, not FPS gameplay? Quote
Darth Lurtz Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 Also, when did Pandora from Avatar become a planet in the SW universe? Those creatures sure were reminiscent of Pandora. Thats what I was thinking as well when I was watching this clip. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 The trailer was okay; it looks like we're in for another season focused on Jedi, Sith, Mandalorians, and seemingly randomly selected planets. I did think that the use of the Imperial March so prominently was a little too much. Even Sith doesn't play that score so clearly, if I remember correctly. (though the end of Clones might approach the level at which it was played in the trailer) I know CW producers are trying to use it to hint towards the darker plots of the show, but it needed to be more subtle and less like the revealing of the Executor or the arrival on the Second Death Star. I'm hoping that that was just a one-time use like that in the trailer, and that the piece doesn't get used like that throughout the show. That article did mention public protest agains the Jedi. I don't know about you, but I finished reading Fate of the Jedi not too long ago, and I have had enough of that plot. Also, at first I was indifferent to the proposition of a story arc focused on astromechs, but then the camera panned and revealed...a pit droid. On a mission to infiltrate a Separatist cruiser. A pit droid. Quote

The clip wasn't really exciting, but I wouldn't call it "horribly stupid". It's an ambush and not a battle, and the ambush worked. As for the gunships, they hit several targets, but not Ahsoka in this particular scene. I'm pretty glad that the gunship was put right in front of them because I find they look pretty cool :) Onderon was featured by the EU several years ago. I have no idea though how it looked, so I can't say if Pandora's look was influenced by Onderon, or if Onderon's look in the show was influenced by Pandora. But to be honest, it's a question I really don't care about. I think that playing the Imperial March is not so inappropriate. The show features for the very first time direct action of Darth Sidious. Mr Man Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 New clip: http://starwars.com/watch/tcw_s5_battle_of_onderon.html Finally a CIS ship that can take a few hits, how come the MTT wasn't ray shielded? I think they should make more use of The Duel of the Fates rather than The Imperial March, even the duel between Yoda and Sidious, and Anakin and Obi Wan in ROTS didn't use TIM. Quote
jmagaletta Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 (edited) I have a theory for Maul's death that i think would be great. Have Palpatine kill him. I am all for seeing some sith on sith action. Also that could be a great fight scene. "Good god, Sidious vs Maul and Savage, please add Dooku, Grievous, and Ventress in there ." I called this months ago. General Magma Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Is there any reasoning behind the fact that Ahsoka was shown fighting Ventress in a rather "outnumbered" state right after they mentioned the death of heroes, lowering down two bodies in Jedi Order body bags? Or could they both be Jedi Councillors - Stass Allie and Eeth Koth - in this case? Quote

To be honest, I'm really not sure what will happen to Ashoka. Most of us thought she'd die after the season 4(?) trailer aswell, because of the darkside stuff that happened to her.. Quote

Sam892 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 After watching the trailer this season certainly gotten bigger on scale. The whole Mandalore battle shot looks incredible and it looks like Maul will add a bit more flavour to the series. Although its more interesting giving him command of an army it doesn't immediatley fit into Ep 3. Hopefully this whole plot won't be rushed. seeing Palpatine fight Maul is going to be a highlight but I also want to see Maul fight Dooku. Hopefully they don't get rid of Maul in this series as he throws in some interesting plot lines into the mix. Quote
Brickadeer Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 (edited) Just read the article the trailer is embedded in on http://insidetv.ew.com, and immediately wondered what "the one thing" is Filoni is talking about. And I still wonder who's the one character that won't make it to season 6...trailers...maybe I shouldn't watch them... Edited August 27, 2012 by Brickadeer Quote

Can't see them killing off Darth Maul now already, but one of those three is my guess. Otherwise, add Maul to it too, but the candidates should be easy to uncover. Oky Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 I must agree with my fellow Clone Wars critics here. The trailer merely seems to show more of what we've already seen, and that battle on Pandora Onderon is indeed illogically biased, even more so than usual. Of course Filoni claims that the good stuff from this season wasn't shown in the trailer, but they said that about the last trailer too and "the good stuff" turned out to be the worst. So I'm not very hopeful. Also, at first I was indifferent to the proposition of a story arc focused on astromechs, but then the camera panned and revealed...a pit droid. On a mission to infiltrate a Separatist cruiser. A pit droid. I know right? And this must be a pretty important mission too, if they are being briefed by Mace Windu and get cover fire from Delta Squad. Good god, Sidious vs Maul and Savage, please add Dooku, Grievous, and Ventress in there . A 12 bladed lightsaber fight with only 6 people? That would certainly be interesting. But I agree, it would be pretty awesome if Sidious defeated his old apprentice and his brother. It would get rid of the unnecessary Sith apprentices and make Sidious look even stronger. But that probably wont happen because it's The Clone Wars and nothing truly awesome ever happens there. Quote

So I'm not very hopeful. That's not quite correct ;) “The first season 5 trailer we released back in June was about the most limited version possible of what you could see,” Filoni says. “It didn’t have any of the good stuff in it, because there’s so little that we could show that wasn't going to give our secrets away. So for this new trailer I said to our editor Kevin Yost, ‘I’m giving you all of the footage, and the only thing you can’t show or talk about is this one thing. But everything else, put it in, and I’ll tell you if you went too far.’ Except for one thing, everything was fair game.” Edited August 27, 2012 by Brickadeer Quote

Brickdoctor Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 And I'm calling this now, the pit droid will defeat General Grievous by accident. And do it in a way that's clearly intended to be funny, but isn't, à la Jar Jar Binks. Quote
