Wow, I would kill for those elf figures to be made into real Lego figures.

I would die for those figures to be made, let's cooperate. ...or maybe I'm not that fanatic, but they would be nice anyway.

Most of those designs are rather more lively/creative/niche than the CMFs tend to be, though. Even the ones that have ended up in the CMF series have often been watered down/commercialized/simplified somewhat. Clearly these were drawn for the job application as examples of his wide range of design skills rather than as actual design suggestions per se (as evidenced by the use of other companies' IP). On the other hand we have seen so many of those realized (with some alterations) already that it seems inevitable that there will be (some) more in the future. But I suppose there's still some more obvious fantastical/historical creatures than the high elf warrior waiting in the line.

Alexandre Boudon aka Toth has indeed been working as concept designer for Lego since 2010, so who knows what will come more! :classic:

Maybe the lack of Castle figs can be explained by the fact that there was a Castle theme ongoing, so they could have put any medieval figs there. Now, with LotR taking over, we might see some medieval figs in the CM line (or maybe not, as there were no classic pirate figs alongside PotC).

Of course, TLG made space figs alongside SPIII and AC, so that could disprove my theory. Basically, Im saying the opposite of what I wanted to say.

I agree with those who would rather see unique minifigs, like a Conquistador/explorer or a roman patrician/emperor or a mandarin, or a warrior from China/Arabia/India/..., or continue with the line of Western figs.

And also, this:

third row, third and fourth minifig (it was about time TLG made a Drow hehehe:)

Edit by Hinckley: Please don't quote pictures.

Edit: sorry for the picture size, but it has 100 small pictures in it :)

I agree with Sirens-Of-Titan- thanks for posting this! This makes me want to see what is on the line for Series 8. And there can never be enough fantasy characters. The possibilities are endless.

"Lego, Y U NO make one?"

"Lego, Why do you not make one?"

So every time I make a spelling error I get chewed out on it, but then someone is aloud to use a internet meme with poor spelling in the title.

It's spelled "allowed."

Once again I am singled out! I'm sick of this discrimination!

I think it is just a joke ;)

Let's stay on the topic. Answer me, and you can spell how ever you like (look at my spelling, I always write sad for said, meter for matter etc:), What is the minifig that you would absolutely LOVE to see in series to come and I will exclusively tell you if it going to happen in next year or more :)

And I will get slaps for this, but on the other hand, you will know that you've been singled out again, but in a good way, because for all this time I haven't shared neither one information about upcoming series, expt for the wings :) ok? :)

How about these?:

- Any peasant type fig

- Any noble type fig

- Any heroic/good knight fig

- Wolf pack redesign

- Pinocchio

- Female Forestwoman

- Zorro type fig

Sorry Hinckley, my excitement got the best of me. Reprimand noted. No more quoting of pictures. default_thumbup.gif

I have to admit that while I would personally welcome with open arms any medieval civilians in the CMF series, they would be rather hard to design so that they would be interesting to the masses. Some sort of farmer/peasant I think could be possible, with a torso design that would be somewhat passable both in modern and medieval farm settings, and with some new accessory like a (new) scythe or an animal (a shepherd for example would be nice, but certainly pushing the limits of the accessory size if a sheep would be included). Artesans, I fear, would just look like "guys with different aprons and hammers" to most people. I would love a minstrel/troubadour figure with a lute, or a herald/messenger with a trumpet.

Oh yes, the minstrel would be fantastic.

The minstrel and the herald would both be must-haves for me. The lute would be awesome, and it'd be a cheap way of getting a trumpet.

I am sorry to see that I stand alone with my love for artisans. In a MOC I would only use 1 Minstrel or 1 Druid, etc. But I would use plenty of farmers, shepherds, woodcutters etc. Bricklink and customization is my only friend apparently.

A minstrel, definitely. We need a good 'ol lute, possibly a brown beret or a brown version of the bagpiper's cap. We have a lot of generic citizens rolling out of Kingdoms and MMV, so some specialized jobs would be appreciated.

The point is that there are already several peasant torsos out there which you can use for farmers, woodcutters and stuff. Sure, there would be place for even more but it doesn't really sound CMS material.

Also to be honest the nobleman and other fancy clothing selection seem quite a bit smaller and so does the selection for medieval middle-class. (Merchants and the like.)

I think there is a TON of compatibility between castle and other Lego lines, so there is a pretty wide range of torsos, heads and hairpieces to choose from, albeit a lot of the torsos would fall more into the tradesmen/guildsmen class or higher. I think the unique pieces would be the key to a great castle CM, and headgear is the way of the medieval future, IMO. New accessories would be nice, but I think new headgear would add enormous variety to the common folk.

Here are some thoughts I had one some of the ideas presented:

Bard with a lute or lyre, and with one of these types of headgear

Shepherd,(female) with a cane and lamb, and a new dress and torso.

I would like to see some nice headgear worked in with this fig as well such as one of these

Monk or Druid with a tome and new walking staff piece, with a hood neck piece that would be down in back, or

I would also like to see a new more warrior-esque female figure - like the female forestman, or

In terms of tools, we already have hammers, picks, shovels, knives, hatchets, brushes, pots and pans... most things are already covered. Although musical instruments are usually one-use per MOC, we already have a flute and bagpipes, and we still need the 3 other iconic medieval instruments - the lyre, lute and horn. the staves and tome would be usable with more figs, as would the lamb.

IMO, LEGO has done a stellar job thus far with Castle CMs. The Elf alone is such a huge addition. The Minotaur is amazing, and the new dwarf is also excellent. The Valkyrie and Highlander are both nice figs that, while limited in utility, are both very cool The Witch I could do without, while I am excited for the new armor and shield of the Evil Knight, but these two both have very good mass appeal - like the generic outlaw and the generic space characters.

I also say look to the Monster Hunters line! There are some great new figs coming that are very usable in medieval MOCs, assuming you go for the Supernatural.

Both number 1 and number 3 of these are headdresses typical for higher ranking woman, they would be way off on a shepherd. Also being a shepherd was typically a man's job in medieval times (and later, too). It would be a very odd choice for a female minifigure.

I agree about the headdresses being too fancy (though I certainly would like to see them produced on some other more appropriate minifigure), but not exactly about the female shepherd being a very odd choice – this is Lego we are talking about, they are not doing historical figures per se, they are doing things that we as masses perceive to be historical. Regardless of the real historical authencity we do recognize an archetype of shepherdess, so it could very well be made into minifigure. And a female shepherd would steer farther away from biblical imagery than a male, which in TLC's viewpoint would probably be a good thing.

We might have a very different view on how mortal human civilians looked like during the medieval age. Also our opinion on when the medieval era started and ended might differ a lot. I should have specified. Mea culpa.

I didn't spend to much time reading your post. The title didn't say civilian minifig so that's why I posted all medievalish minifigs from the collectable series. Serie 7 comes with a female viking and red riding hood. Those look very suitable as villagers after you change them a little bit.

any news angeli? :cry_sad:

The Grandma Visitor / Red Riding Hood minifig is a great little medieval civilian fig. And one that adds a nice splash of color to your scenes.
