The_Chosen_1 Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 This is truly astounding!!! Easily one of the best micro-scale MOC's I've ever seen. Quote
Lyichir Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 This is just incredibly awesome. I was already amazed before I saw the underground segments, and now am even more so. I was particularly tickled by the 1x1 tiles with spider printing being used for Aragog's children. Quote
Vindicare Posted March 27, 2012 Posted March 27, 2012 Un-freaking-believable! This is just wonderful. You really captured EVERYTHING that Hogwarts was. The Castle is quite spot on. Hagrids Hut, with the dirt path that leads to it. That fantastic Quidditch pitch-great posts! The Chamber below and the lake. Greenhouses, wow. The only minor criticism is you forgot the creature who lives in the lake. But you literally got everything else. Well done! I would without a doubt buy this. CUUSOO, anyone? Quote
Im a brickmaster. Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 That is a extremely well done mini MOC! I am amazed at how much detail you put into it, which is a very good thing. A job well done. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 For Cuusoo, I don't think it matters because they won't use this exact set (I don't think). It would just give TLG ideas that Harry Potter is still on the minds of buyers and cool version in mini scale might be worthwhile for certain sets/themes. I mean, they always have polybag versions of mini Star Wars ships and whatnot. Maybe a slightly larger scale Hogwarts would be right up their alley. I agree 100%. We need to get this on Cuusoo ASAP!!! I know a ton of Harry Potter fans who would register just to vote for this model. Quote
Piratedave84 Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 This is really, really awesome! I had seen a couple of mini-builds before but this is by far the biggest and most comprehensive to date!! VERY nice Quote
vynsane Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 This is just... woah! Fantastic. Totally thought of everything. I don't know what I like the most, the Chamber of Secrets, the Quidditch Pitch, the Forbidden Forest... I can't decide! Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 This is one of the most incredible mini pieces I've ever seen. I was geeking out before I even saw Aragog and his offspring. After that I was just speechless - and then the underwater/underground scenes took it up to 11. The planning of this must have been giving you migraines for months. An amazing masterpiece! Quote
BeKindRewind Posted March 29, 2012 Author Posted March 29, 2012 I really do want to thank you all for your responses. The planning of all the details did take quite a bit of time. I had actually wanted to build a paddock for the Hungarian Horntail using a black baby dragon as a stand-in and, yes, I had thought about the giant squid in the Lake as well, but trying to keep it to a single baseplate drove me a bit nuts as it was and I just ran out of space. I didn't want to make it seem TOO cluttered. As it is, Aragog is merely a stone's throw away from the Quidditch pitch Anyway, I wanted you all to know that I've posted this on Cuusoo. You can find it at: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/13184 Quote
andhe Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 This is fantastic. I'm not a massive Harry Potter geek, but even I recgnise the details from the films and you've contained and combined them well within the limit of the baseplate. The microscale builds are very clever, the challenges hidden underneath make this go from a great build to a superb one! Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I voted for this on Cuusoo! We really need to get the word out on this one... Quote
thomaslam2 Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 this MOC is amazing. I'm such a huge fan of Harry Potter and this castle is 90% close to the film. I was hoping to build my own Hogwarts too, but lack of money and bricks:P Quote
Big Cam Posted March 29, 2012 Posted March 29, 2012 I won't even attempt to,critique this as its just too amazing! At first glance I said, huh, cool mini build. But it is much much more than just a mini build, there are details in every corner and it's just damn impressive. I hope you plan to keep this one built. Very impressive! Quote
Snojd Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Simply amazing! So much detail in such a small scale, you really got everything in there. Quote
Legomaster34 Posted June 2, 2012 Posted June 2, 2012 This is simply beautiful! Keep up the astounding work! Quote
Sextant Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 I didn't see this one the first time out, so thanks to Legomaster34 for dialing it back up. Instantly recognizable as a whole, of course, but the real fun is in playing "spot the reference" and uncovering all the little easter eggs throughout the model. Stupendous job! Quote
HawkLord Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 It's all in the details with this one - and it looks amazing. Easily one of the best MOCs I've ever seen, as it's loaded with great references and a full understanding of the material. Quote
Ferrik Posted June 6, 2012 Posted June 6, 2012 Amazing! If only I could build something like that... Quote
DD840 Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I love all the details. Does anyone have ideas on what color could replace the sand green if I was trying to make a smaller version and am having trouble finding sand green bricks on bricklink? Quote
Albus Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I love all the details. Does anyone have ideas on what color could replace the sand green if I was trying to make a smaller version and am having trouble finding sand green bricks on bricklink? You could possibly use Dark Tan or Dark Grey. Not sure if these specific bricks come in those colours (maybe not with Dark Tan), but the colours can be considered accurate. Quote
Robert8 Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 This is truly a master piece. I'm totally amazed with the level of detail. You should post this in LEGO Ideas! Quote
DD840 Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 Oh, but it is: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/13184 Quote
