Rijkvv Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I really like it for the parts and figs, especially the bat helmet. However most of the sets are poor designed IMHO. That may have been the unluck of the theme to be released around the juniorization. I have to say, I only own 6004 (my first castle set ) and that is a good set. I did play with the castle my friend had, but I never really liked it. The most sets I never saw in real, so maybe they are very good. It is better however than the KK1, KK2 and Fantasy Era sets. Legoist Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 (edited) It's certainly not my favourite Castle subtheme, but I don't hate this either. I think the 2nd castle is indeed a poor design, but the 1st one is not that terrible, and almost all the smaller sets are just fine (the only truly ugly one is the tiny flying machine) although I can't say from the picture if they are <insert that tiresome argument>. Not so important, but the dragon IMHO looks much better than the current dragon, which barely looks Lego at all. As a whole theme, FK seems definitely better than KK to me. And considering the level of the other Lego themes of late 90s, FK is possibly one of the best theme of its time. Edited March 5, 2009 by Legoist Quote
Zorro Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Parts only I say. The sets themselves are a waiste of time IMHO. ALthough not as bad as everyone seems to think here? Quote

Minifig Lecturer Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Ha! Just saw a picture of Witch's Magic Manor. How lame a set, has impressive fortified entrance, only problem being so side wall Quote
Capt. Bluebeard Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Two castles? As far as I know, there was only one Fright Knights castle. No, there are two castles. He is referring to this one and this one. Bluebeard, out- Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I like them. They have a new, yet a classic feel to them. LEGO didn't start losing money for 2 more years, and that's because of Star Wars, and the fact that Town became Town Jr., and City/Town is one of the biggest sellers. it is probably the biggest non license theme LEGO has. Dadster Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 I never had the Night Lords Castle... Its still a decent design for a basic castle. Quote
Sir Kohran Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 They weren't terrible by themselves, just too goofy and poorly designed when compared to their predecessors (Royal Knights and Dark Forest - hard to believe these great sets had come out just a year or two before, the negative slide was very rapid). And, whether they deserved it or not, by 1998 they had marked the death of the Castle line that had been going since 1984. Quote
