Or to identify sets by yourself, first find some rare looking part in some odd looking color. For example, I used your orange flag on the vehicle and the drill piece on the mech. Then look those up on Bricklink (e.g. search 'drill', or browse the color guide to find all decorated flags in orange: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogColors.asp?utm_content=subnav ). Once you've found the parts, chasing down the set is simple enough. Here is the link of other items that I couldn’t search the way you explained… I had used following website www.toysperiod.com to reference the Lego set from parts..and was successful on searching 4 items but below two in the link I couldn’t… thank you again.. https://imgur.com/a/K0eFwvp?s=sms Edited January 31, 2022 by Sams93 Quote
Yoggington Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 I think the first one is a MOC. This piece is in only one set: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=87552pb076#T=C&C=88 And it's no tank. I can't really see the piece from this angle, you might be able to confirm that is it. The brown/orange one seems to be a part of set 70603 https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=70603-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0} Quote

Can you see if it says 'Lego' on the studs? They might be some other brand in which case I can't help. Lego doesn't go in for tanks too often. A lot of other brands step in to fill that gap. Might be off-brand or a MOC that combines bits of both. Quote
koalayummies Posted February 1, 2022 Posted February 1, 2022 (edited) Agree about that one. Just went around looking at off brand tank sets and now my search results will be forever ruined Edited February 1, 2022 by koalayummies Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 That ain't LEGO. From the colouring of the bricks I would say Mega Bloks as they do a lot of colour mixes to get that marbled look on certain parts and they had a Call of Duty series. I can't help much beyond that, but searching up for those might help you narrow down the exact set. Quote
zinnn Posted February 2, 2022 Posted February 2, 2022 Hey, I got those lego coins from Ebay but suspecting they may be fake, can you take a look here please: Quote
stevogenix Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 Hi All 1st time poster Can any one help me? I am looking for a set of instructions (that I used to own, but now lost) for a Lego Technic gearbox I can't remember if it was part of a set/universal set/ or instruction cards etc. The only thing I know for sure is that it would have been released in the late 70's early to mid 80's as I remember the instruction sheet was the style for around that time. It was a 2 speed transmission (maybe 3 but I doubt it), it was made of primarily blue technic beams and It was a simple backwards and forwards motion to change speeds (I think) I have searched all over for it, even looking at second hand instructions on ebay to see if I can see it but to no avail. I would really like to build it again, can anyone help Thank you in advance Quote

zinnn Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 I'll repost this again, maybe can get some feedback. I bought a handful of "new and genuine" coins off ebay the other day, today they arrived but look fake to me - the colour is different (more yellowish), the Lego logo is bigger when compared to my definitely original coins, and the numbers on the flip side don't stand out as much as on the originals, the embossing is very light and not as pronounced. Maybe those were produced later on (the ones I have are from the 90s wave)? Can someone help? Here's a pic with 2 of my coins on top of the ebay ones: Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 3, 2022 Posted February 3, 2022 No, those look like the gold chrome I've had. In fact your opened coins might have been affected by atmosphere or handling that has changed the colour. Moulds get re-tooled or replaced after a certain amount of use to. I think if the tolerances on the manufacture of large steel and aluminium products (something I encounter in my job) changes over the life of a mould, it certainly will change on a small detail on a LEGO mould. Thanks What is odd for me is that the Lego logo is larger on those ebay coins, not much, but when held next to my original ones it definitely looks bigger. Also the 10/20/30/40 embossing looks really cheap - my photo above make it stand out, but in reality they dont look that good. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted February 4, 2022 Posted February 4, 2022 With something quite so fine a detail, I think there would be a lot of variation in the final product, especially in a part that does not have to tolerate the micro-changes from regular clip/unclip the same way a brick must. The coin only has to work on the edges to be held by a minifigure, so the logo and the number likely can wear or be less filled in without causing problems for the integrity. Quote

Alexandrina Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Been sorting through a joblot and happened upon a tricky one. Very clearly a sticker from a Friends set, but it's attached to bricks that don't correspond to that sticker. I've scoured Bricklink, but can't find any sticker assemblies comprised of three tan 1x2 bricks stacked on top of one another - and indeed, stickered assemblies seem to have ended in 2011, so there shouldn't be any in Friends sets anyway. Curious to know what set the sticker came from. For reference, the joblot is an eclectic mix of sets but I've found stickered bricks from 3185 Summer Riding Camp, so a set released around 2012 would be my guess. Quote
CastleRail Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 I would imagine that it isn't a sticker from a set - I don't recall seeing (c) Lego on a sticker before. Perhaps from a sticker sheet in related media - a Lego magazine or similar? Quote

Alexandrina Posted April 7, 2022 Posted April 7, 2022 Oh, excellent find! Cheers! Fortunately tan 1x2 bricks are common enough that I can just keep these three permanently together to preserve the sticker. A good job they weren't salmon or light green... Quote
