Probably the most amazing auction of 2013 was this Norwegian lot of LEGO... dating to 1955-57.

This sold for over $4000 !!!! :look: And it wasn't even an Ebay auction... but a Norwegian one...

This auction may not look like much but just about everything here sets off alarm bells for old time collectors.

1) very rare 1956-57 Norwegian road signs with red bases.

2) very rare 1956-57 Norwegian printed bricks with decals.

3) very rare 1955-56 red waffle bottom plates (and early white waffle bottom plates).

4) very rare 1955-56 tall classic windows in dark blue or yellow.

5) rare 1956-58 red solid stud classic windows/doors.

6) all bricks of the rare 1949-56 slotted type.

Many of the non-brick parts here go for $50-$100 each.

Gary,

That is an impressive lot of very old LEGO! Wow!

All,

I have bought used LEGO on eBay, and once when half of the bricks were not LEGO after the seller claimed they were, I contacted her and she immediately refunded half of the price and shipping. I emailed her photos of the LEGO pile and the NON-Lego pile. Then I gave the non-LEGO stuff to charity. She was very nice about it and said they were her son's toys. It could be that much of the time the seller does not know what they are selling.

I find that the work of sorting out the non-LEGO bricks and cleaning everything often is not worth the effort. Especially when you get bricks that stink of smoke or other horrible smells. Washing them may or may not get rid of the smells. But if you are short on funds and have time to spare doing this, it can pay off.

Right, lot is here and sorting is proceeding.

Sets I've identified as being represented so far are (in addition to those listed above);

4770-1 (blizzard blaster)

7945-1 (fire station)

7477-1 (T-1 Typhoon vs T-rex)

4210-1 (Cost Guard platform)

8633-1 (Mission 4: Speed boat rescue)

4766-1 (Graveyard Duel)

3827-1 (Adventures in Bikini Bottom)

Those are all some fairly expensive and hard to find sets. Most go for well over $100 used and complete these days. (If you want some fun look up the current price for a Graveyard Duel)

I always make sure those clone brands are bagged and sent straight to landfill. Harsh as it may seem I would not want to see those clone brands in anyone's hands. Kids don't deserve to have inferior product.

I even received a couple of clone brand 1 x 6 plates from a brick link seller last year, I took it as a genuine mistake, but they ended up in the same place.

Getting lots like that is fun.

As clone brands apparently aren't as common in Europe/Germany, the biggest worry is dirty/non Lego parts. I take care of the dirt by putting everything through the washing machine at least once.

One lot I scored last year for only about 90€ including shipping was a real treasure trove. It included heaps of complete or almost complete sets from the late eighties and early nineties...Blacktron, SP1, M-Tron, Futuron, Ice Planet 2002, Spirius. Some of these I already had identified from the pictures, but others were real surprises. There also were a lot of town sets and a few technic bits in there, though I only ended up building 6395 Victory Lap Raceway (which was 98% complete) and a technic bike out of those.

Nice find!

From left to right I believe,

Star Wars Rebel (hoth), I believe the torso is from a pilot in Star Wars and the rest is just generic parts, Pharoahs Quest Mummy with the headpiece of a monster from Atlantis, Ninjago Kai without mask, Star Wars The Emperor with Blackbeard's sword, Pharoahs Quest adventurer, torso I believe from Dino and other random parts, Ninjago snake warrior, Star Wars Emperor's Royal Guard, Ninjago snake warrior, Ninjago Zane without mask, Pharoahs Quest mummy, Ninjago skeleton warrior, and in the back I see some ninja masks/mummy helmet/snake staff.

First on the left is an older SW Hoth Rebel trooper... looks like a complete figure to be honest. Second along is the torso and legs from a SW Naboo pilot but with generic yellow head and hair. Fifth along is what looks like a complete SW Emperor Palpatine (just requires a black bar to complete the look)... and Ninth along is the SW Emperor's Royal Guard, this one requires a black spear to complete it.

The Emperor actually sells for around £10 on it's own usually.

Some Pharaohs Quest and Ninjago stuff also. The brown pilot's helmet on the figure wearing the vest should probably go on the Naboo Pilot's head.

I like finding cheap little collections like this. I wish I found more!

Let's see how I do

1. Star Wars Hoth Rebel with Pirate Sword

2. Star Wars Naboo Pilot Torso. Mix and match for the rest. Castle type crossbow

3. Mummy fig from Pharoahs Quest wearing headpiece from Atlantis manta villain. Trident from Atlantis.

4. Ninjago, Kai the red Ninja, original version. Missing ninja cowl.

5. Star Wars Emperor Palpatine wielding Blacbeards sword from PotC.

6. Mac Macloud from Pharoahs Quest. Missing goggles.

7. Dino Attack Digger torso, mix n match head and hair.

8. Ninjago villain Fangdam with Pharoahs Quest staff.

9. Star Wars Imperial Guard wielding mix n match sword with clip.

10. Ninjago Rattla,

11. Ninjago Zane, the white ninja, DX version. Missing white ninja hood.

12. Pharoahs Quest Mummy Guard. With correct headpiece and weapon.

13. Ninjago Bonezai, with helm from Castle.

It looks like some of the needed pieces such as Zane's ninja hood are in the pile behind Bonezai.

I would love to know the characters name and what set they come from

We have a dedicated thread for this, therefore I merged your topic in here. :classic:

I believe it's the latter due to this two reasons:

a) 87994 looks like it is too long

b) the bar seems to have a whole, so it should be a cutted tube.

It might not even have to be cut to length. A short flex tube (about 3 modules long, more or less) is used in the TMNT sets in that very color.
