Yzalirk Posted July 28, 2014 Posted July 28, 2014 Do you mean set or where you can buy it? Set, Buy, Thanks, I hate how people who sell the Urak Hai sets on BrickLink don't include the minifigs! Quote

RobNL Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 (edited) Today i had a lucky find and came home with a retail illuminated sign. Needless to say that i am very happy with this decoration piece for my Lego room, but i am wondering if anyone can identify its age. Based on the logo with the stripes i think it is from the 70's, but the Duplo clock is from the 80's i guess (as they started with the rabbit in 1979?) and since they came from the same store ... And what is the story behind those stripes? Edited July 31, 2014 by RobNL Quote
Lego Otaku Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 I do remember seeing those signs in early 80's so some stores could have kept using it for many years, long after LEGO stopped using the color bar design on the box sets and started using yellow box. Quote
Sid Sidious Posted August 1, 2014 Posted August 1, 2014 The stripes were part of the LEGO logo in the 70s. Here are some (but not all) of the sets that had that logo. Quote

62Bricks Posted August 2, 2014 Posted August 2, 2014 And what is the story behind those stripes? The "stripes" represent the colors in which the basic bricks were produced at the time. Note the absence of green, which I think was used only for baseplates and trees, at least in the US/Canada in the 1970s. In the television ads I grew up watching in the 1970s, the logo was animated to show five 1x6 bricks clicking together, as at the end of this vintage ad: Quote
RobNL Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 Thanks for that, hard to imagine nowadays with that wide variety of colors that they have now :) Quote
antp Posted August 3, 2014 Posted August 3, 2014 (edited) Note the absence of green, which I think was used only for baseplates and trees, at least in the US/Canada in the 1970s. Indeed, it was only used for baseplates, trees and flowers. Green parts only started to appear as 2xN plates for basis of some Castle sets in mid 80s, then for a few other parts in early 90s in the Octan sets. It became more common in second half of 90s. These color lines are also missing the old grey, which became common in the end of the 70s I think. Edited August 3, 2014 by antp Quote

BirdOPrey5 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 I know C is Lego, I just thought it was cool to remember how those translucent pieces used to come- I haven't had to seen a set where I needed to detach them since my childhood. Does anyone know if A, B, and/or D are Lego pieces? None of them have any markings I can see. B has a broken leaf, that's why it's not in the right place, it's hanging on by a small thread of plastic. Quote
Yzalirk Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 BirdofPrey, part "B" is from old Mega Bloks sets, it's just messed up. So that one is not LEGO. Part "C" is just a trans-red stud with the little connector on it. Quote
BirdOPrey5 Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 A is part (leg) of Technic minifigure Thank You. BirdofPrey, part "B" is from old Mega Bloks sets, it's just messed up. So that one is not LEGO. Part "C" is just a trans-red stud with the little connector on it. Thanks. Now I'm not so sad it broke. Quote
killerfinger Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 Hi all, I'am trying to identify a set, but I can not find anywhere on the net. I searched various databases as well. It's a blue boat, similar to the 4025 Fire Fighter. It has 5 body parts with 2 red keel. No stickers, no signs on the boat. Thanks for the help. Quote
Rolli Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 I'am trying to identify a set, but I can not find anywhere on the net. This one? - Set 315 Quote
killerfinger Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 This one? - Set 315 Oh, I had a wrong search. (cargo boat) Thank you very much! Quote
jFox Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I came across this photo of someone's MOC, but can't figure out what is the grey piece (or pieces) in the nose? It looks like it has studs facing forward, and at an angle toward the left and right sides of the ship. I thought maybe it was several pieces connected with a hinge piece of some kind, but cant really see any seams between pieces. http://i.imgur.com/tKvQN9L.jpg Quote
Vincent Kessels Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 My guess would be: Vehicle, Tipper End Flat with Pins (BL 3145) http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3145 Quote
Rolli Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 There is a very similar part to the one that Vincent posted - without those pins: Vehicle, Tipper End Flat without Pins I guess thats the one you are looking for. Quote
