mifkar33 Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 Hi All, I'm new to the Lego world and this forum, so if I'm messing anything up here, please give me a pass! I have a mix of Legos and am hoping you all can help me identify some of the parts so I can try and find instructions and build a few sets. 2nd Image... Sorry for the poor quality pics. Quote

This will also allow for the linking of larger images; Flickr and Bricksafe are two of the preferred around here. Unfortunately a lot of those pieces are in many sets, too many to really narrow down specifically which they came from but here goes: The 3x2 slope blue with red triangles is in 15 different sets The 3x4 slope blue with red triangles is in 13 different sets 3x4 slope green with with yellow triangles is in 7 different sets The white computer screen slope brick is in 71 different sets Tile 1x2 with dynamite pattern is in 40 different sets The grey wing piece bottom middle is from these 2 UFO (space subtheme) sets this is one of your rarer pieces I'll locate more later if someone else doesn't get around to it. Aurore Posted February 12, 2021 Posted February 12, 2021 @mifkar33 A few more : The white brick with three stars (4 sets) The grey container door (5 sets and an extra brick pack, all from the M-Tron theme) The blue slope with classic space logo (only 1 set and an extra brick pack, unsurprisingly from the Classic Space theme) The grey plate, modified, cross with dome (hard to tell from the photo if it's light gray (4 sets) or light bluish grey (more recent, 15 sets)) The large grey wedge, triple curve (much more recent than the other parts, 15 sets) Quote

It was in the first series of Harry Potter CMFs, so I would expect it to be. I found it on the Bricklink site by searching "saucer" and "Tea" should also work. As the software uses the bricklink database, I should hope their search algorithm does the same thing in each. Quote

For some reason, it's not on Stud.io, but I downloaded the dat. file for it from LDraw and imported it into Stud.io as a custom part. Quote

Alexandrina Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Not sure if this is the right thread, since I'm fairly sure I have identified what the part is, but I recently acquired a job lot with some parts whose authenticity I'm not sure of (images spoilered since I'm having a hard time making them not prohibitively large): Spoiler Now, I'm fairly sure they're Part 71076, and colour-wise they are a perfect match for known legitimate bricks in the old Light Grey. Bricklink recognises the existence of this part in the old Light Grey. Fabulous. What gets me suspicious is the fact that they're not included in any set inventory in Light Grey, and the few they have are going for several quid. That to me implies that these aren't common bricks, so finding three in a job lot is unlikely. Unfortunately, I've not got any others to compare against, and while there's no visible Lego logo, there often isn't on parts with a blocked open stud like this seems to have. So failing that, is there any way to be sure whether or not these are legitimate Lego? It's worth mentioning that the job lot appears to be mostly legitimate Lego, though a significant minority of the parts were other brands. Apologies if this is the wrong thread! Quote
MAB Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 It is very hard to prove they are LEGO, without scraping some of the surface and comparing it with a part of known colour. They could be unchromed or dechromed parts. Some old chromed parts are transparent / clear underneath, some are more of a dirty white, while I've also seen grey and tan underneath some chromed parts. ukbajadave Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Evening all, I'm sorting through a big box of old Lego and a couple of bits don't seem familiar. Any help gratefully received Some kind of creator style shark, perhaps a poly bag? Another creature, this time a crab or spider? Last but not least this legless guy and his enormous weapon. Bigger pics should be available on bricksafe LINK HERE Cheers Quote

Even then, do you know for sure that the head and torso are from the same source? Quote
Aurore Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 (edited) The shark looks like the one from this polybag, but modified : The crab comes from an Atlantis set : The machete appeared in recent City Jungle sets : https://brickset.com/parts/6177418/sword-no-12 Edited February 19, 2021 by Aurore Quote

Alexandrina Posted February 19, 2021 Posted February 19, 2021 Your best bet is identifying uncommon sets then seeing what common parts are there. I can see most of the 7668 Rebel Scout Speeder at a glance though Quote

Alexandrina Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 I'm in the process of sorting through a big joblot I acquired last month, and while I'm getting good at narrowing down mysterious parts, some are still eluding me. For instance, this torso: Spoiler It's a genuine Legoland Torso with the Lego logo on the stud, but I don't know of any way to identify whether a sticker is genuine Lego or not. This particular sticker does not belong on the black Legoland Torso according to Bricklink's inventory, nor is it on the sticker sheets for any set the torso appears in, and a Bricklink search for "torso sticker" yields some similar results but none quite the same. I'm curious to know whether the sticker is a genuine one from some set - obviously I'd like to avoid going through the entire Bricklink database and checking the sticker sheets for every set which ever included minifigure torsos if possible so hopefully somebody here will recognise it. Man with beard Posted February 21, 2021 Posted February 21, 2021 (edited) @Alexandrina, looks to be from a Lego Idea book. Way before my time, but I recognized it from the video by Jangbricks on that book. Edited February 21, 2021 by Man with beard Quote

I used to have this part in quite a number of colours, besides chrome. Loads of non-production parts/parts in non-production colours were made for the modelshops in the UK Cheers, Ole Quote

The seller I bought from is UK based, and I can't vouch for the path the parts took before they came into my possession so it's entirely possible there was a model shop connection somewhere down the line. PhillyFrank Posted March 8, 2021 Posted March 8, 2021 Hello! Having a hard time figuring out what the piece at the top is. Appears to be some sort of 4x4 dish? Thank you! Quote
