Posted March 30, 201212 yr Hello everybody, I present you my entry for the Architecture Contest, the "Art Deco" skyscraper Chrysler Building, in the Landmark series. This replica has about the same size as the official set of the Empire State Building. Some facts. It's located in New York City, in the Turtle Bay, on the East side of Manhattan. This 319 meter high building was built in only two years (1928-1930), it was the world's tallest building for some 11 months before it was surpassed by the Empire State Building in 1931. The Chrysler Building is one of the best known examples of Art Deco architecture and is considered by many contemporary architects to be one of New York's finest buildings. The building was built and designed specifically for the car manufacturer Chrysler, but this corporation didn't pay directly for its construction. Its founder, Walter P. Chrysler, financed it himself. It ranked ninth on the List of America's Favorite Architecture in 2007. March 31, 201212 yr Nice, but it falls victim to scale. Maybe a larger scale could get more detail in the model. Yet, I know the contest typically uses a certain scale. Neat anyway.
March 31, 201212 yr Author Thanks for all your comments! It's really encouraging... For the size of my representation, it's better if it's smaller than the Lego Empire State Building, like in real! I wanted a simple and a recognizable representation of the Chrysler Building.
March 31, 201212 yr I like it, but I have one suggestion: wouldn't it be better to use the new jumper plates with groove? You wouldn't see so much difference between the tiles and the jumper plates you used.
March 31, 201212 yr This model fits the Architecture series really well. It's a simple (at least looks simple) and clean design, and it's recognizable. Great use of the round bricks for the spire. And good luck with the competition!
March 31, 201212 yr Very nice model! It could be the perfect complement to the existing classical landmarks (Empire State Building, John Hancock Center,...)! One little thing: Compared to the real building I wonder, if your model could be a bit higher, maybe 1, 2, 3, ... plates in the 2x2 section?! Good luck in the contest!
