badboytje88 Posted April 3, 2012 Author Posted April 3, 2012 Badboy, will you be doing player feedback? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this motley crew I will, but I need some time to get all my notes together. Stay tuned!
Peanuts Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Forgot to post my role PM. If anyone is interested, here it is: Welcome to Yakuza Family, in this game of wits and strategy you'll be playing: Played by Peanuts Isamu is the families spy. He managed to infiltrate several major companies and even some government organs. He is currently trying to infiltrate the local police station. But his efforts so far haven’t been very fruitful. You are the Godfather Lyncher. Together with your team you need to decide who to investigate every night. When you find out who is the Godfather, your killing ability will be released. Your first victim should be the other godfather. If you succeed in your task his team and your team will be merged. To win you need to get the Scum Godfather lynched. Your team needs to outnumber the Town to win this game.
The Legonater Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Badboy, will you be doing player feedback? I'm curious to hear your thoughts on this motley crew Ditto! Personally, I'd say my performance was mediocre at best. I honestly tried to do what I could for the town, but seemed to fall short. Mind you, I don't have a lot of the experiance you more active players do.
def Posted April 3, 2012 Posted April 3, 2012 Personally, I'd say my performance was mediocre at best. I honestly tried to do what I could for the town, but seemed to fall short. Mind you, I don't have a lot of the experiance you more active players do. I have to say, as regrettable as it was taking you out the way we did, I was quite confident that you were scum by the way you posted on day two. I figured a townie would defend their position a little more, and at the very least try to get in touch with the person publicly planning to take you out, and proclaim that since you were town, that the people trying to get you killed must have scum in their midst. It probably wouldn't have made a difference in your survival, but it would have set the clockwork in motion for the next lynches. With the scum kills and lynches, I was about 99% sure with boywonder, rufus, VolcanicPanik, Nightshroud, Bob and you (those being the ones without the investigation).
Brickdoctor Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 Mind you, I don't have a lot of the experiance you more active players do. I think you've been playing mafia longer than I have.
The Legonater Posted April 4, 2012 Posted April 4, 2012 I think you've been playing mafia longer than I have. I think you've played more games than I have, though. Not counting the Prince of Persia bloodbath, I've played 3 mafia games and 1 Mystery.
iamded Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 It's not too late to chip in my two cents, is it? I had fun this game. I thought my role was... interesting, to say the least. Starting off as a neutral with my only goal to stay alive, I figured it would be a pretty easy ride through. Then zakura contacts me claiming his life is tied to mine or something... things got interesting pretty quickly. The conclusion was nicely done too, well done badboy. Congratulations to the winners too, well played. And of course, my character role: Welcome to Yakuza Family, in this game of wits and strategy you'll be playing: Played by Iamded Aiko may look very sweet and innocent but don’t be fooled. This girl knows how to defend herself. Her favorite weapons are words. With an IQ way above average she’ll always outsmart you. You are the Survivor, you are a Neutral player. In order to win this game you have one goal and that is to stay alive until the end of the game.
Professor Flitwick Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I will, but I need some time to get all my notes together. Stay tuned! badboy, I don't mean to be rude, but it's been over a week now. When will we see the player feedback?
badboytje88 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 You're not being rude Flitwick. I'm indeed late. I've been swamped with work lately but I'll have the feedback online by the end of this day.
badboytje88 Posted April 15, 2012 Author Posted April 15, 2012 Player feedback I'm really not good at giving feedback, so if you don't agree with what I have to say, just let me know Scubacarrot You did an amazing job in this game of wits and strategy. Whitefang killed you off with his one shot ability. I’m not sure what he based his choice on but he nailed it. Out of all the townies with night actions with night actions, Whitefang was the first and only one who targeted you. Fhomess I like how you played this game. Claiming to be a Miller was a smart move, however it did come a bit late in the day. Some of them considered not voting for you because of your defense but since Defs results never had been wrong they went with it. To bad for you! TheBoyWonder Whow, that went fast! You made a wrong choice of words in the C&D topic and people were on to you before they were even allowed to vote. At first your defense was weak. But teamed up with your scum partners and try and make the best of your downfall. I really hated you getting voted off so soon. Your fig was first wearing something different. I bought the pink brick box specially for that torso. So I was kind of sad to see it go so soon… Bob I’m proud of you, especially the way you managed to keep it all together at the time when you were the only member of the scum. You at first did a good job at defending yourself. Until you decided that it wasn’t going anywhere and you gave up. Etzel You were investigated by def so that’s pretty much where it all went down. Too bad you didn’t try too hard to defend yourself. I’m not sure if you could have changed anything about the outcome but it would have been more entertaining. Peanuts I made it too hard on you and your team to win. Which might have made playing this game a less enjoyable and maybe even a frustrating experience for you guys. For that I am very sorry. I should have realized it before I started the game or I should have adapted it during the game like Hinck suggested. Rufus I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy the role you got. It was about the same role I had in the Penguins Gotham Mafia. Even though you didn’t like the role I think you did a good job not trying to focus on it too much. VolcanicPanik If I had know you and Zakura knew each other in real life, I wouldn’t have let the both of you play in this game. Playing the game outside the thread isn’t allowed, let alone discussing the game in real life. Claiming to be a neutral blocker is a rather interesting move. However neutrals usually stand on their own so a block role for a neutral wouldn’t be very useful. Nightshroud99 You managed to find the Godfather in 3 days. Was it instinct, I’m still pissed at myself for giving you the wrong results on scubacarrot. The game would have been very different if your teams would have merged from night 4 on. Tamamono You had a good defense. You just used it too late. If you had defended yourself like that from the beginning, you might not have been lynched. Now people refused to change their vote because it was too late to change the lynch or because people didn’t knew what to believe. You tried to pass on the information you had as last resort. But unfortunately it didn’t work. The Legonater During the night you were killed there was quite some action going on around your character. Tamamono thought you were scum and revealed your NA in public. Unfortunately he thought you were the scum role blocker and it looks like the vigilante seemed to believe his story. Jimbutcher 2 out of 3 of your targets actually were scum. So you have a pretty strong gut feeling. Too bad you were killed off so soon. I would have loved to see what you have done if you had gotten to stay longer in this game. Masked Builder Throughout this game you never once were a target of a night action until you were killed. So kudos to you for playing a nice and smooth game. Alopex I liked your choices for the night actions. You chose to target some prominent characters but also some of the more silent peeps who enjoy flying under the radar. Professor Flitwick Most of the nights you protected def which was a very smart choice since he has proven himself to be a valuable townies. I liked your attitude in the day time threads. CorneliusMurdock I personally really enjoyed your contribution to the game via pm. We were very much on the same page when it came to your character. Working together with Def and Cecilie must have contributed to the choice of your victims a lot. 3 Out of 4 were scum, so I say job well done! Swils Even though you didn’t have a prominent night action in this game I think you did a really great job. Def Well Def I have to say you did an amazing job. You managed to create a very strong alliance in the first few days. I have to admit I was kind of worried for the sake of the town before the game started. I had designed the characters and added the roles and affiliations to them. As you noticed I didn’t do this completely random. All of Nobuo and Chiekos kids were town affiliated and all of the brothers had a power which allowed them to see an aspect of what was going on at night. Plus Akio’s role and affiliation weren’t picked at random. The rest was. So when I saw you turned out to be the cop, I at first thought town was going to lose their cop on the first night. Luckily that didn't happen. Cecilie Too bad you were killed off so soon but you had a very nice start. After two nights you found out that Rick and CorneliusMurdock weren’t scum. So my guess is you started up a little alliance with those two players. Trusting Def was risky but I do think it was a wise decision of you to tell someone about your action and your target. Zakura If I had know you and VolcanicPanik knew each other in real life, I wouldn’t have let the both of you play in this game. Playing the game outside the thread isn’t allowed, let alone discussing the game in real life. I don’t know if you informed people of your role and your target on day one. Even though you don’t know who to trust on day one, you had big risk of dying by using your night action. There for it would come in handy if someone knew who you were targeting. So if you were to die they knew who was responsible for it. After day 1 you could just inform your team on the writeboard. WhiteFang You were voted of because you weren’t that active throughout the game. In your defense you role claimed you were a vengeful and that backfired on you. However I do have to compliment you on taking out the scum godfather with your one time action. Iamded You were doing so great, I would have loved to see how you would have played if Zakura had died and your serial killer powers would have been released. Too bad we’ll never know. MetroiD In the beginning you were roleplaying a bit much for my taste, but that’s just a matter of taste. You were at times a very vocal players but I didn’t feel you were always contributing to the discussion, which put a target on your head. If I was playing the game I think I might have interpreted your actions as scum behavior. CallMePieOrDie You were targeted so frequently. Nearly on a nightly base. I’m not sure if that is a good or a bad thing. You were a valuable player to this game. Rumble Strike There were little to no night actions used on you which means you either did a great job or you weren’t considered a thread to either of the parties. Eskallon There were little to no night actions used on you which means you either did a great job or you weren’t considered a thread to either of the parties. RileyC Sorry RileyC no feedback for you. Thanks for being honest and quitting the game. ADHO15&KielDaMan The two of you get a prize for shortest lifespan on a Mafia Game. Brickdoctor At one part in the game some of the players thought you were the scum godfather! The votes were really going jumping from you to Capt. Redblade and it was a good idea of you to go with it and try to pin the voting on Lizzy. Too bad it didn’t work out for you. MetroiD, CallMePieOrDie and you were the most targeted vanilla townies of this game. So both town and scum thought you were an important player. Not sure if it had to do with you behavior in the daytime thread or it was purely based on metagaming. Capt. Redblade You were so close to being eliminated on day 7 mainly because of not being able to contribute to much. Rick I think you did great in this game. I really want to thank you for your feedback in the conclusion topic. I’ll take it to heart. Scorpiox Thanks for taking over very late in the game. I think you did a good job taking over at such a late stage in the game.
Brickdoctor Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Brickdoctor At one part in the game some of the players thought you were the scum godfather! MetroiD, CallMePieOrDie and you were the most targeted vanilla townies of this game. So both town and scum thought you were an important player. Not sure if it had to do with you behavior in the daytime thread or it was purely based on metagaming. Thanks, but I wasn't trying to pin voting on anyone or go with anything. I voted for Lizzy because I thought she was Scum.
CMP Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 CallMePieOrDie You were targeted so frequently. Nearly on a nightly base. I’m not sure if that is a good or a bad thing. You were a valuable player to this game. I feel so important. I really should've been more active in the Naakayoshi PM, and got lazy in the days in the latter half of the game. Glad to see I was still perceived as a threat though.
Masked Builder Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Masked Builder Throughout this game you never once were a target of a night action until you were killed. So kudos to you for playing a nice and smooth game. Thanks. I think I did a much better job this game than I have ever before.
def Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Def Well Def I have to say you did an amazing job. You managed to create a very strong alliance in the first few days. I have to admit I was kind of worried for the sake of the town before the game started. I had designed the characters and added the roles and affiliations to them. As you noticed I didn’t do this completely random. Luckily that didn't happen. Thanks. I was really surprised to survive. I really had wanted to play a more low-key game, even before I got my role, but boywonder and MetroiD put an end to that pretty quickly. I wasn't looking for trouble, it just found me As for the family affiliation, I just ignored that as window dressing, since hosts should never ever hand out roles that way And for the record, the Nakayoshi were Cecilie, Murdock and me. When Cecilie went down, Rick and zakura came in. When Murdock and Zakura went down, Pie and Flitwick came in. So, I was never working alone. I have never been and never will be a cowboy!
CorneliusMurdock Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 CorneliusMurdock I personally really enjoyed your contribution to the game via pm. We were very much on the same page when it came to your character. Working together with Def and Cecilie must have contributed to the choice of your victims a lot. 3 Out of 4 were scum, so I say job well done! I really enjoyed writing those kill PMs as well. Might as well share them: I would like to kill Tadao (The Legonater) tonight. I'd like to fly through the air like Sailor Moon yelling something like "Take that, evil villain!" with my lips not synching up to the words. Then I will swoop in and with one swift stroke, cut off Tadao's head. Then I will strike a winking, thumbs up pose against a brightly colored background as his head falls to the ground. Then I will cartwheel out of there before I am discovered. This set the template for my night shenanigans. Badboy was kind enough to include the winky pose after the kill in the day thread which was hilarious and only further encouraged me to be.... More Awesome, Sailor Moon Style! Unfortunately we had the wrong intel about Legonater. Sorry, Legonater. Killer Sailor Moon returns as out of the shadows I somersault towards Isamu (Peanuts). Taken by surprise, Isamu lets one large bead of sweat pour from his forehead as I hold the katana to his neck. "Any last words, Goon?" I ask with my lips not syncing to my speech. Isamu opens his mouth as if to speak but is silenced forever with one swift stroke. I will then strike my famous winky pose before bounding off once again into the shadows. Then his head hits the floor. In other words, I'd like to kill Isamu (Peanuts). Ah, about the same as the previous night's. The time stamp indicates that I should have been in bed a full hour before posting this. In the Temple, Momoe (Rufus) walks alone. She hears a small noise behind her and turns, katana drawn, to confront her attacker. But Momoe sees nothing there. She giggles about being so paranoid. That's when her katana is knocked out of her hand from behind. She turns and sees Killer Sailor Moon. "I welcome you into the Family and this is the thanks I get?" I say lips not syncing. "The government thinks it can take us on? I think not." Just as she is about to scream in terror, my blades silence her forever. I strike my winky pose as her head tumbles across the Temple. Then I am gone, back into the shadows form whence I came. So I'd like to kill Momoe (Rufus) tonight. Thanks. I tried to have Manga relate a little more to her victim since they were closely related. It is late once again in the Temple. Kenta (Nightshroud99) is occupying his time by gutting fish to make more sushi. Killer Sailor Moon leaps from the shadows and confronts the chef, swords drawn. "I have been told to call you a bastard. You are a bastard. There, obligation fulfilled," I say with my un-syncing lips. "Is that all? I thought you were here to kill me," Kenta snickers as he jumps to his feet. He pulls an oversized butchers knife from his apron and stands ready as he taunts, "You are no match for my Wasabi Powers!" "You will die like the bastard I was told that you are," I reply. The two of us are blurs of clanging steel as the swords and knife crash together in mid air. Metal sparks fly as we whirl around the temple floor each trying to end the duel to our advantage. It is only too late, however, that Kenta sees the pool of fish guts that he left on the floor. He steps into it and loses his footing. As he flies up into the air, the world seems to slow down and I jump over him, slicing his head cleanly from his neck. "Wasabi now, bastard?" I say as I land on my feet and do my winky pose. Then I leap back into the shadows. So I'd like to kill Kenta (Nightshroud99) tonight. This is where I hit my stride. Too bad someone had to go and kill me that night. So this was my first game where I wasn't some form of vanilla. It was fun actually having something to do at night that wasn't dependant on what meal or pill I took during the day. The first night I really didn't have a solid enough lead on anyone so I decided not to kill just to be on the safe side. It was only just before day 2 started that I was contacted by def and the wheels were set in motion for our merry band of townies.
MetroiD Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Thanks for the evaluation, badboy. Reading through your comments, I must admit that I once again found it surprising how much effort you seem to have put into doing what supposedly shouldn't have been done in the first place - i.e. allocating very specific roles to specific players - especially considering how you hardly gave us much of a story to begin with. And that's what I was a bit annoyed about in the beginning of the game, hence my roleplaying. Basically, the introduction to the whole game sounded like "So, there's 32 of you and well, some are goodies, others are baddies. This is coming from some old guy. Aaand that pretty much sums it all up, now get to business, the lot of you". Which, while obviously effective enough, does very little in terms of welcoming players to the whole setting/universe of the game. Apparently, we have different definitions of what a Mafia game should be and when it is fun for the participants, considering how people have on multiple occasions expressed being unhappy about roleplaying, etc., but at the end of the day I still feel that some actual form of storytelling, as opposed to just letting 32 people get to it, would have been nice. In fact, I had huge expectations with regards to that considering not only the amount of players you'd included and their funny biographies, but also the whole premise of the game. The lack thereof was a huge let-down to me, I must admit. The sheer awesomeness that was the Time Dragon did help make up for that though, as did the vigilante's kills (mega-cool job, Cornelius!). As to your other observations, I wasn't contributing for large periods simply because I wanted to become a target and be offed. When I saw that this was apparently not going to happen, I had to drop the act. And def - what you wanted (and what you shared your aims were) and what you then did were substantially different things from the off. That inconsistency, as I've already stated on numerous occasions, led to my pursued interest in your moves. Once I'd questioned your involvement in the initial stages, it would have taken a very different response from you if you had wanted to stay low-key, and I'm sure you could easily have done that, but you didn't. In the end, it's all about different playing styles, as you said, so I'm guessing you altered your game plan to whatever you felt would serve the purpose, so well done on that.
Professor Flitwick Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Thanks for doing these, badboy! Professor Flitwick Most of the nights you protected def which was a very smart choice since he has proven himself to be a valuable townies. I liked your attitude in the day time threads. Cheers badboy. I'm quite proud that all of my three targets (def, MetroiD, and CM (although def asked me to protect him)) were town, and that I didn't foolishly protect a scum. I tried to keep relatively active, but I feel I offered more behind the scenes.
badboytje88 Posted April 18, 2012 Author Posted April 18, 2012 Thanks for the evaluation, badboy. Reading through your comments, I must admit that I once again found it surprising how much effort you seem to have put into doing what supposedly shouldn't have been done in the first place - i.e. allocating very specific roles to specific players. I'm very sorry to hear you didn't enjoy my game that much. I do would like to let you know that indeed some of the roles were specifically assigned to some of the characters. The characters were all randomly handed out to the players.
K-Nut Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Scorpiox Thanks for taking over very late in the game. I think you did a good job taking over at such a late stage in the game. Thanks! But I'm not Scorpiox.
def Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 And def - what you wanted (and what you shared your aims were) and what you then did were substantially different things from the off. Just to be clear about things, so you can consider it in your next game: I didn't ask Boywonder to PM me as a defense and drag me into the thread. Once he'd done that, I played it as best I could. Basically, it was a spotlight shone on only me and Tammo that first day. After that, as I was using that situation in a way that best benefited town, you, Murdock and Cecilie all tried to put a little pressure on me in thread. I explained to all three of you that I would share Boywonder's PMs later, and Murdock and Cecilie became my partners for the next few days of the game. It seems you are the odd one out in that situation. You drastically ramped up your pressure on me. My response to you, at first, was very polite and clear, and it wasn't acceptable to you. So, I don't know what I could have done differently to stay low-key, other than bow down at your feet. Seriously, I wrote in thread that I'd share Boywonder's PMs in due time, and two hours later you were complaining that I wasn't sharing them fast enough. He was already convicted, I wasn't defending him, but you needed it now now now!... Baffling stuff, but I don't see where I played it wrong or aggressively. You focused on me for the wrong reason and I tried to be polite about it for as long as I could. I really, really did. And then I gave up being polite. And know that I had a number of PMs asking what the deal with MetroiD was from different people. You had a thing with me, and it wasn't something others shared with you. So the inconsistency really seems to be with you My notion of low-key is definitely participating, but not trying to be a spokesman for town. Closer to the game Rick and Flitwick played, which is active, but not out front. Tammo actively tried to be the spokesman, and I just sort of fell into it, thanks to a special spotlight of my own
badboytje88 Posted April 19, 2012 Author Posted April 19, 2012 Thanks! But I'm not Scorpiox. Sorry K-nut, forgot to change the names in my registration document.
MetroiD Posted April 19, 2012 Posted April 19, 2012 Baffling stuff, but I don't see where I played it wrong or aggressively. I never said you played anything wrong. Obviously, you played it perfectly, seeing as Town did win thanks to your guidance in the end! I did, however, provide the reasons for my actions and what I was referring to was the fact that you chose to share a bunch of PM's in the Day 1 thread - which in turn helped aim the spotlight in your direction. Either way, all water and beer under the Yakuza bridge now.
