Fun With Photoshop

I've been playing around with photoshop using some of my MOC photos and here's the result:

This is the first time I've tried to add exhaust to the engine nozzles and there's plenty of room for improvement but it dosn't look too shabby either!

nice first. Now I'd make the edges of the battle station glowing a little bit (in white) so it shows the light reflecting on it.

Plus I'd blur it a bit more. Nice work in general, its looks really clean

It looks pretty good, what did you use to achieve this?

However, I think what lets the images down is the backgrounds look a bit grainy. Where did they originate from?
