Actually most of my ship MOCs are meant to last - I hardly dismantle them, although it has happened several times in the past, mainly with my early ships which were pretty lousy... But all the ship MOCs I've built for the last 4 years (more or less) are still in one piece, although some of them have gone through modifications, like this one.

My general rule is to build new ships without dismantling old ones - that's why I don't make them very often, as I don't recycle bricks used for my ships, I need new bricks each time and needless to say, sometimes I cannot find or afford the necessary pieces.
