Paul Boratko Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 (edited) Yeah, but I refuse to reach out to that crowd for support... I think that Hayabusa model only needed 1,000 votes because Cussoo at that time was only for Japan... I may be wrong though... There is a contest being run this week(I think it starts on Monday) at DudeIwantThat.com and they are giving away one of my Custom Red/Black Vampire GT Models with Black Chrome Rims... In order to register to win, you must Like the model on Facebook and Support the Model at Cuusoo... Of course if you've already supported prior to the contest, you can just like the contest link through Facebook... The randomly selected winner will have to post under the comments section of the Vampire GT at Cuusoo that they won it at www.dudeiwantthat.com for verification that they supported... Tweeting the contest also earns extra chances to win... CONTEST LINK It should be interesting... Edited May 3, 2012 by Paul Boratko Quote
mrklaw Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Supported you a while ago, and just hopefully entered the comp. Reading the official Lego comments is very encouraging. I wonder if cuusoo has to wait for 10k votes or Lego just has that as a safety net. You can almost feel them wanting to jump on the Vampire early. it'd be a perfect flagship technic supercar for next year. Quote
captainmib Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Supported on Cuusoo! I don't understand why there are so little votes on this great model... Has every Eurobricks-technic-member already supported??? Quote
dunamis Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 Excellent design! I just signed up for Cuusoo to support it. I'll be bidding on the Ebay one as well. Quote

Has every Eurobricks-technic-member already supported??? Now that you mention it, I have had 2 people in the last few days e-mail me and say that they tried to support the model at Cuusoo after they registered and the Support button was shadowed out and they couldn't vote for it... And I was just on the site logged in under my name and I have not supported my own model so the Support Button is there for me to support and it was in fact Shadowed out and I refreshed the page 3 times... Then I went through the link from this site and it was showing up in green... So I don't know what the deal is with that... Someone just recently made this comment at Cuusoo... This is something that I already knew going into this... "This is going to be very hard to get enough supporters because it is Technic and let's face it, most people that build with Lego just don't like Technic and turn their nose up at it. It also has no license or theme support fan base backing it up. Every model that has made it and is doing well here had a fan base outside of Lego that supported it or is supporting it. In my opinion, Lego cuusoo should lower the Support count for models that are an original idea, especially ones that are this good." I clicked the link 9 times in a row from here to the Cuusoo project and every time the Support button was shadowed out and unclickable and the on the 9th time it was available to select... Something is most definitely glitched up there... Quote
DLuders Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 @ Paul Boratko: Even IF your excellent Lego Technic Vampire GT model does not make it to 10,000 votes in Lego Cuusoo, folks can still make one like it (using your Building Instructions and Bricklink). You and many other Technic AFOLs on this forum have been MOST GRACIOUS in the time & energy it takes to share your creations with others. Don't be discouraged -- I bet TLG's Technic Designers have noted the Vampire GT, and maybe they'll produce a set like it soon! Quote
Paul Boratko Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 (edited) Dave, If this model would ever get to 10k supports(which I know that it won't) I would be content if Lego would say "Hey we are not going to do it, but we will come out with a set next year that will have the 19L Black flex axles and also Black Bushings"... I would also like to state that the Charity auction was planned a month before I ever considered submitting this model to Cuusoo... There are quite a few guys that can attest to this including Joe Meno and Fernando from TechnicBRICKs... It was just one of those right place, right time deals... I have also told quite a few guys what sparked me into doing an auction for that particular Charity... Edited May 3, 2012 by Paul Boratko Quote

Slow and steady wins the race mate Remember the work around with the tubing but the bushings well that's a hard one to fix unless we build our own ABS machine (MOCs are hard enough as is). Back on topic - I can't wait for the auction, refinance the mortgage and I am ready Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 It is a pretty sweet looking, detailed car. I supported it, as well as annual donations to Make a Wish. 2005 I was giving a wish. Good luck, he did a great job! Quote

I checked it just right now and it still works for me, i get a green support button... (oftopic - are you going to show more pictures of your porsche? i'm trying to build it from pics, although i'm not sure if i have al the needed parts) Quote
Meatman Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 He said somewhere here that he was going to photograph the building sequence after either the Brick magic or Brick world show and do a Black version. Quote
mo_ Posted May 10, 2012 Author Posted May 10, 2012 (edited) Boom 1,000 supporters! It’s a good milestone to reach. With this achievement I am proposing an idea to the technic community: I need 5 (more are welcome) volunteers to help me get the word out for the Vampire GT. I have put together an information package with templates that can help with emails and tweets. PM me your email address and once we get the required persons I will send it out. All that is required is 10 mins of your day for tweets and 30 mins twice a week for emails (copy paste). The way I see it is having a coordinated approach to creating awareness for the Vampire GT will greatly increase its chances of being featured on high profile websites and get the attention needed to get to 10,000 supporters. There are 7 billion people all we need is for 0.00014% to vote that’s not too bad right? If you are not interested in volunteering you can still help. I ask everyone if you are a member of any other forum regardless of what it is, place a small blurb in your signature asking for support (this passive method of advertising yields surprising results). One last thing, is there anyone that is a member of TeamLiquid (more than 25 posts) or any other large/popular forum if so please PM me as I need you to create a post there about this. I already have it written out and it will be a matter of copy and paste. I look forward to hearing from you Edited May 11, 2012 by mo_ Quote
