We are trying to discover the reasons behind the machine's malfuntion, and who may have deliberatly caused it. What do you know of the other investors? "Well, that's helpful. A few more questions, if you don't mind. Who, if anyone do you think would have the motive to sabotage the machine. Likewise, who had the means. The magic user told us that he, Szalinski, or you two were with the machine from the time that it was set-up until the time that it was started. Someone sabotaged it in that amount of time, so you can see why that paints a nice red target on your heads, among others. Tell us who you think could have and would have done it, if you don't mind, just so we can be sure it wasn't you two lovely chaps... or rather, chap and chappess."

"Maybe one of you who is quicker and leaner than I could poke your head in the room really quickly and see if you can see anything worth seeing. Then we'll move on to one of the others," he whispers before turning back to the doctors. "Doctor Falish, would you like to add anything? I'm afraid we've let your husband do all the talking!"

Jess nodded to Boomingham, then slipped to the unexplored room to see what was there.

Being careful to watch where I step, I search the crate in the corner and sniff the mug and bottle to see if they contain any liquid and try to determine what they hold or might have held.

In her haste to reach the crates, Jess does not watch her footing and breaks through the weak floor boards falling straight to the first floor with a crash. Docken is a little more careful, but the noise seems to have woken other occupants of the room as a hoard of rats stream from the nooks and crannies of the closet and head straight for Docken.

En Sabah Nur had becomed annoyed by the bug-like creature's slow speech pattern and their alien appearance made him uncomfortable but he had struggled to not let it show. Thankful for the interruption, he quickly made his way towards the sound.

Haldor turned at the sound."Jess, are you hurt?" Cried Haldor, with a worried tone. He apologised to the Doctors, and quickly stumbled accross floorboards into the back-room. Haldor carefully tripped his way toward a defensivly stanced Bartholemew."Well this is great, I'll try and get myself over there. Hold on there Jess!"

With my shield in front of me and my Dread Hat prominently displayed on my head, I calmly step back and fire my Mockthril Longbow at Big Rat A from the Back Row.

Round 1 of the Battle of the Janitor's Closet

>Bartholomew Docken vs. Big Rat A - Damage (Scared)

All enemies are too scared of Docken to take a free hit.

Docken unafraid, faces down the oncoming hoard. He smoothly draws an arrow, but his shot is cut short as his target scurries out of view, terrified of the Warden. Nur, Boomingham, and Haldor rush into the room ready to aid their friend, while Jess pulls herself up and starts making for the second floor.

En Sabah Nur reached the room and was shocked by the number of rats circling Docken yet not advancing upon him. "I thought this establishment prided itself on cleanliness? Let's see if I can wash things up with a water spell from the back row." Nur unleashed his spell at Rat E.

Docken with utter confidence looses an arrow at the first Big Rat, but the lighting is too dim and the arrow only glances off the vermin's flank. Boomingham convinced that the should ponder the situation first before charging in, pauses for the moment to meditate regaining 1 ether back, though he is already at full ether. Nur casts a confusing water spell before Rat D's eyes shattering the rodent's wits. Haldor attempts to play wack-a-rat with his metal rod, but is to slow for Rat E which slips behind him, biting him on the ankle and poisoning him. Several of the rats dodge in and out between the heroes legs inflicting minor wounds. Jess having achieved the second floor joins her companions in the fray.
